370Z G37 Koni Yellow Strut Install
Переглядів 845Рік тому
In this video, I am showing which OEM parts need to be transferred to your Koni Yellow struts, as well as addressing some quirky issues you may run into with the install. I am also covering how to make a DIY bushing press, specifically for your lower strut bushings on the 370Z/G37. I did not initially plan to make this video, so I had not recorded the install of the front struts, however, the O...
I usually do the shifting through the gears after adding the fluid, while the trans gets up to temperature, so the fluid is well dispersed before letting it drip down to the proper full level. Oh and the temp should be 104⁰F not 140⁰. Thanks for making the video!
So how do you get negative camber with them? Do you just rotate them on the car?
You can’t clean the pan with diesel?
These cars could have been made better 😅
These cars are bullets, you definitely dont have one so you definitely dont know
Monkey Nissan could have just put a tranny dip stick but nah
Did it drive better did u have any issue u didn’t have before with shifting
Thanks man needed this
Thanks for all the great camera angles and commentary, super helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
how is the transmission holding up? i wanna do this to my 2013 g37 but im afraid the transmission might act funky afterwards. infiniti told me they dont recommend but i wanted to make sure my transmission is fine before i tune my vehicle. please give me your input on that.
Still shifting beautifully smooth!
Infiniti BSing you based on 10+ year old service (dis)information, fluid changes for both the engine and transmission make the car run super healthy almost immediately.
Why didn’t you just fill it up through the transmission dip stick ?
Let me know when you find it!
@@MDVLmedia that’s how I did it lol I didn’t need none of those extra gadgets you used .
@@1of1.92 You should make a video about the transmission dipstick and send it to Nissan. They’re not aware it exists. 😊
@@MDVLmedia how do you check your transmission fluid level then? lol
@@1of1.92 You really don’t, aside from opening the fill plug. It’s a sealed transmission and Nissan states it is “maintenance free”.
You can buy the adapter to fit that fit fill plug G37 & 370Z jatco 7 speed transmission. Plus, apart from running through the gears ,you need to run the car when you have filled it, until, "little or no oil runs out of the fill hole". You will notice the fill hole has a short pipe on the inside of the pan as a fluid level gauge hence filling from there. With the trans fluid circulating up to the radiator and back to the transmission, you need the car running otherwise it all runs back into the trans. Then you can fit a copper washer to fill plug and tighten. So you nearly have it. Otherwise you can overfill, that fluid heats up too much, and it can't cool it down at slow speeds on hills etc. You wouldn't notice at normal speeds but with correct fliud level it will change gears more crisply also. Pan bolt is 20nm
Thank you! Does this also apply to manual?
Hey man appreciate da vid u made it’s funny af . Straight to da buizness n very informative!! Do you remember where and what kind of adapter you got for the pump
Hey, glad you like it! The pump is a generic one you can get at any local auto parts store, which comes with the hose. The adapter was just a random one I found at Advance Auto. I brought the tube for reference and just found one that appeared to fit.
Great tip on using the wrench for leverage! 😅 great video! Thanks
Awesome video bro
Thanks man!
do you remember what size adaptor you got for the pump hose?
Doing all that just to clean the filter instead of actually changing it out is crazy…
Nothing wrong with it and I had to be in there anyways. Throwing away money to replace good parts might be crazy ;)
@@MDVLmediathat’s like saying your oil filter is still good while changing your oil after only 2.5k miles 🤦🏻♂️ dumb af
Great video... thanks for taking the time to make it. Can you verify the torque specs for the filter bolts and pan bolts? I'm seeing 61 in-lbs for the pan bolts, but can't find anything for the filter bolts. Thanks again!
Love your engine bay clean af
Thanks for the vedio! You have an instagram? I want to ask about the torque that you put on the filter and pan bolts.
You’re welcome! My Instagram is @medieval.media I used this forum for the TQ specs: forums.nicoclub.com/torque-specs-capacities-at-transmission-pan-t400481.html#
Automatic huh? Jeeze
I hope your day gets better ❤
First koni yellow sport install I’ve found. For the price one would think it would have better instructions, hence all the parts and using old OEM parts.
Agreed! I wish I had thought to start making it from the beginning of the install, but at least the front was fairly intuitive.
That’s an announcer voice for sure!!
What was the whole point of replacing the rear bushing on the knuckle?
The first side (not in the video) was destroyed. I forget exactly how now, but it was not useable.
@@MDVLmediahow bad was the alignment on the rear toe and camber? Did you buy rear camber arms and rear toe bolts?
@@khoazyxo Camber and toe were both pretty rough when I finished. I tried to get an alignment done by two different places and they were unable to get my camber within factory spec. I ended up buying adjustable rear camber arms and adjustable front full upper control arms. Toe was adjusted to spec with the factory toe bolts.
@@MDVLmediaword thanks for the help bro I appreciate it 👍
@@khoazyxo Very welcome - Have an awesome day!
How many quarts
Z1 kit came with 6, so I did all all 6 and let the excess drain back out. I believe it ended up actually holding under 5.
Great video, when you replaced the bushing , how did you know you were at “ride height” when you raised the jack?
Thanks! Doesn’t need to be exactly ride height, but you want it around there just to reduce any binding.
I love the chill ness in this video
Glad you like it man, hope it was helpful!
Do you have a video for the fronts?
Sorry Joe, I do not. But if you follow the link in the description, there is a video that shows the overall process. Its for coilovers, but that’ll get you 95% of the way there. If you have any additional questions about the install, Id be happy to help.
@@MDVLmedia is there a small bearing in the strut mount that can sometimes come off and stay stuck to the OEM shock shaft?
@@reesecup4567 Are you referring to the silver collar you can see at around 45 seconds in the video? 0:40
@@MDVLmedia Yes! My Konis dont have them. Do I have to swap them over from the oem shocks on to the Konis?
@@reesecup4567 Nope! That collar is what the top portion of the strut assembly sits on (which you will swap onto the Konis). The Konis have sort of a shelf, where the shaft becomes wider. This serves the same purpose.
