I keep hearing Politicians say Medicare for all. Who pays for this? If the answer is the government, would Seniors still have to pay for it?

I just went on Medicare 4 days ago. After a ton of research, I chose original Medicare, and a supplement policy with Mutual of Omaha (Plan N). $105/month for a non-smoking, excellent health 64 year old male. I have total peace of mind about my decision. I can afford it.

Unless you're a retired federal employee and you can carry your insurance into retirement.

Are you available to call to compare ChampVA to Supplement Plan F? I want to cancel F but am very cautious above coverage's. Thanks

our state offers something called SeniorCare. it covers the part D as creditable coverage and only costs $30/yr and is great for those who don't have many medications and doesn't result in a penalty if you ultimately need to pick a full part D plan. I don't know if other states have similar programs or not though, something to look into if you live outside of Wisconsin that is.

Never give up your original Medicare. Never. MA is not Medicare.

There is a max out of pocket for both options and it is the same $ amount. That's law.

Definitely have to check to see if your medications are covered by the plan. That is number one. But number two, It seems you have to be a fortune teller and imagine the drugs you may need in the future...you can't of course, but you could easily find your part D plan is insufficient in the future. Not sure it is that easy to change if you suddenly have a "condition" and your current plan doesn't cover the medication you now need.. (?)

Advantage plans are very very inexpensive. Close to free. There are some things I don't like about it but you cannot beat the money savings. They have to abide by the same rules as Medicare as far as authorization. But they can be slow and difficult for doctors to work with at times. Medicare B and a G plan is expensive and they both go up every year. My mother in law has an Advantage plan and she has lots of health problems and she loves her plan.

I'm on an Advantage plan and will be switching to a supplement very shortly, even if the price is a lot more. I'm sick of the preauthorizations and questioning of my prescriptions. Never again!

Wow! That is a shock to me, I really thought that there was no monthly premium for any Medicare and you just had a co-pay for certain procedures. Thank you for the information!
