ARRL Summer Field Day, 2023. AREDN OG put on a public demonstration for two ham clubs, hung out with friends old and new, and field tested the emergency comms for the first served agency, (aka "DRs' Phone"), which is also part of the RF node install. Nodes were completely off-grid with LiFePO4 batteries, foldable solar panels, and were equipped with GrandStream IP phones and Reolink IP cameras....

Part 4 of building an AREDN node. MikroTik hAP ac lite and Reolink cam now online and tunneled into southmesh. Our Served Agency will be RF linked to this node location as soon as the tower is complete... Likely by 2030. After testing every single component, each part checked out individually. I still have no earthly idea why the node went down after the install, but after replacing the 12/24v ...

    Buy yourself a M35A2 Multifuel army 6x6 and then you can fuel it with used motor oil and it's 99% EMP proof. If you have the workshop body you could have a TOC at the same time...

      We are still waiting on the tower guy so we can install it permanently, and were going to use a 5G sector, but so many people are joining up near this node, and are within range, we will likely try a 5G omni, (ubiquiti).

    Leave Tires as is Put that in brush guards and fuel cells . Smaller tires allow you to go more places

      Congrats dude, that is awesome. You plug the ethernet cable from your home router to the number 1 port on the hap....or you CAN go through your switch, but it isn't necessarry

    Hey man! Thank you very much for this video. You help me a lot! I'm in a 3 weeks journey and only today I was able to finally flash my hAP. I'm alone here in London ON if you see the map it's nobody near and is a big AREDN hole in the middle of Ontario. I'm trying to set up my station and attract other hams to the party.       Thanks, We just had a meeting with our state ARRL Chief, and we discussed this phone in depth. It turns out he's a distant relative, and he's very excited about getting the AREDN network built out here. He lives just a few miles from me, too.

    So, in theory, one could create a semi-private mesh by using an SSID on all of the devices other than AREDN or Southmesh in your case. Is that correct? Maybe in the case someone would want to setup a camera network on their property without broadcasting it out to the wider AREDN network.

      @@arednog The link is about 6 miles to my house but we have tested it out to 15 miles using another rocket and dish with very good results, channel 182 5GHz 20mhz channel width.

    Your explanation is excellent without a doubt. One question, what would happen if I flash the firmware to another mikrotik router model, for example the RB750Gr3, I understand that this model does not have a Wi-Fi network. Will it work if I do it with the AREDN firmware? TK... YV4DR
