Dungeons & Dragons at Work ( dndatwork.com/ ) is a blog by this week's guest, Tom. " I’ve been playing roleplaying games since the 80’s and love the freeform storytelling that results. There is real joy to be found sitting round a table with your friends rolling dice and creating adventure. Over time I’ve observed that the skills I practice, running and playing these games port well into the re...

Cracking warband!
Free range miniatures. Good thinking mate and the wife too with the box of posh slosh.
I’m looking forward to videos on Hobgoblin mate. Lord Dick has got quite the challenge in defeating those bunch of hooligans. Hope you can make some battle reports of the game in the new year mate. And you kept this channel a secret then. It luckily popped up on my feed today 😊
That book is such a great gift idea! +1 with re rolls for the wife then ❤
You've been talking about these guys for so long on the podcast it's nice to finally see them. They look like great! I am looking forward to seeing them in a hobgoblin battle report.
I love it!! I got sidetracked from my 15mm Hobgoblin project but this might just be the inspiration I need to get back on it!
Very nice work, I’ve enjoyed listening to your plans for these two armies and seeing them grow. The puns and innuendo are a bonus 😊
My favorite podcast and I just now found that I could be watching content too! I’m so behind on the times, thank you for all you do!
Thank you!
I'm quite happy with a skirmish gaming wrapping up within an hour of set-up, while I don't mind a rank-and-flank going 2-3 hours. 4 hours of gaming is beyond my mental limit these days.
This episode is pretty much what Ivan and I are aiming for with our podcast. "Friendship Simulator." People want to hear other hobbyists talking about their hobby in a pleasant and engaging format without the feeling of being shilled on. I, too, miss PATM quite fiercely. Especially that bangin' theme song! 😅
Indeed, I may start a binge again from the beginning!
Another good podcast. I may have to drop into my spoons so I can measure the tables up and appropriately scale down unit footprints.
Great video, first time I’ve stumbled on the channel
That's a really clever idea! Could you clear up a couple of rules please? Does the miniature who is activated have to use their full allocation of activations points each time? Is there a likely problem of both players trying to keep as far away from the other army as possible to avoid being in range thus resulting in a constant stalemate situation? Thanks
One thing you might choose to include in the tin are sheets with little Tetris-style wall sections you can cut out. These can then be placed on the board to represent obstacles, that the players need to work around. Maybe with a rule that says you can't put more than one such obstacle on each play grid, to stop things getting too cramped or blocking play altogether. Maybe you could make these pieces double-sided and color coded. One side represents solid obstacles (perhaps with rules for spending action points to break and remove), the other a kind of difficult terrain or force field that require double action points to shoot or move through.
Great feedback and suggestions, cheers!
Iv fallen in love with the idea of making games smaller. The KickStarter trend of making games gigantic for no reason even at the cost of making the game worse, has gotten out of hand.
interesting, have you tried to play it with others much?
A couple of people so far, yeah. Will hopefully get more opportunities in the coming weeks!
Great chat.
Woohooo! new episode <3
'PromoSM' ☺️
Would like to know more about 6mm minis, where to buy them. 25 years ago i used to 'sculpt' 3mm minis. 300 strong army was fun to watch :)
Is there a discord to join? :) :D
Woo hoo. Such a cool idea for a video. Veery inspiring to hear all you guys.
You are most welcome and it was a great listen and #alternativearmies was happy to sponsor you for it. Apologies for the delay in response to the pod cast but the whole company came down ill for nearly a week and we are catching up. We will feature the podcast this week in our news.
Battle Systems are great. So many to choose from now.
Ah man so happy to get some video content from ye.Need the full bat rep with dice smashing in to minis.Cheers man
Hoping the Jester turns out to be the Witchunter! Nice table layout, looks run down (based on Bo'ness ?😂). Where did you get the hovel buildings? Looking forward to see this played solo.
Thanks buddy, the buildings were from gamemat.eu
Nice to see the move to video. Gonnae put up some battle reports?
maybe the odd wee clip, yup!
Another great interview! Really good job!!!
thanks mate 🙂
Awesome interviex! Great job! I cant wait to grab a copy!!
I agree 👍 The Old World won't be as big as aos or 40k. That's just for people who had their armies, know the system and because of nostalgia can play it and check new minis. GW missed their opportunity to attract more game players when total war 1, 2 and 3 were popular. So it seems they don't want this game to be big. And the fact that some armies are left behind, bases are bigger... that's another issue for old players.
Which do you think is best for coop and replayability?
I think RoSD is definitely the best for co-op!
Sbayo was my first McCullough joint and what's more my first skirmish game of any kind really. There's something about the 2d10 resolutions that just feels damned good. Ive only played via Table Top Simulator but Ive got a buncha Ral Partha goblins for Dungeon Fantasy RPG that Im ginna use in Sbayo (what I call Silver Bayonet for short) as well as two different sprues for revenants (frenchmen and skeletons im ginna kitbash) so Im working on my first figures as well... just, got to get, i donno, a desk? Lmao I got paints but no brushes etc so Im slowly gathering what I need. Im 28 but unemployed + on disability so my budget is quite small but that's potentially quite a fun thing in this hobby!!!!!! love the cast. especially enjoyed hearing Joe's process.
GW is REALLY bad at marketing. Which speaks volumes about the popularity of Warhammer, the world itself. That IP made them. Everything they've got. People just loved this world, it inspired them, it became a "nerd-staple" through word of mouth. One nerd telling the other "Hey, I found this thing and it's really, really cool!" It's never been because of GW's marketing, if you can even call it that. They did barely anything that deserves the name. Licensing Warhammer to the Total War games was the most "markety" thing they ever did. And you can see how frustratingly stupid that last CEO and his goons were, that they threw away an IP that single-handedly made their company what it is and has become a global brand, recognized and loved by pretty much every nerd on the planet.
Well if they for some reason want to discontine the game, ok fair enough. The worst thing they did is to incorporate it in to the lore and literally kill everybody. To have your mini's you love and collected and painted for years, possibly decades, just plain out murdered by GW is just giving your customers the finger. They could have made AoS some sort of prequel, like the Horus Heresy and just leave Fantasy open ended at the last edition. This would even allow them to continue with it themselves, for example when a certain computer game proved to be rather succesful *ahem*. The attempt to cash grab is just too ugly. We know they want to sell us overpriced plastic, ok, thats one thing, but to simply announce: "Ok guys, all your dudes are dead now, sorry! Please buy a new army" is just way too cynical.
Thanks for the upload lads, it's always a pleasure from a newbie to listen to the oldheads talk.
Good talk guys. Thanks!
Solid commentary boys 🤝
That was an enjoyable interview.
Can't wait for The Old World. Shame we still have nothing from GW about rules, the looks of miniatures, just rumours. I love the idea of monopouse miniatures, just like in 4th edition starter box, easy to build and paint.
I dont... its just too cynical, even for GW standard. To just kill off all our stuff in the lore, replace it with some mediocre stuff (ok lore -wise at least, AoS is just a convoluted mess) should not be rewarded. And to have an OH S**** moment when Vermintide and Total Warhammer were such huge hits is just too much man. They should just bite the bullit, roll back some stuff lore-wise and make a 9th edition Warhammer Fantasy. And sure, I know they have to sell stuff but they can do that with new armies like Kislev en Cathay.
Mission... Quest... Thing!
Came cause of the Chaos Dwarf miniature, stayed for the good commentary
lol same, came to look at the mini but got hooked in
An absolutely fantastic podcast, as they say.
I enjoyed listening to this, believe you me!
