Writer first. Human Second. Black Creator. Voice Actress. Resident Lunatic. But you can just call me TK. I'm not a filmmaker, media critic or even college educated. I'm just someone who likes to share. Be it my food, my two cents or just spreading a little bit of happiness around.

I just wanted to write this little comment because....well. When I first watched this movie I rly liked it, it spoke to something inside and I could never fully understand what exactly that was, until now. By the end of your video you speak about how this movie is really for people in the service industry, and thats when I put this together. Or rather, when I understood where all my cathartic feelings came from while watching this. Anyway, all in all, damn good movie, damn good video, I'm glad I got recommended your channel!
25:41 as soon as you commentaried on women, yogurt, and bacteria at this point in this movie, i subscribed. This is next level thinking, drawing points together, and it's a gift of perception.
I ONLY want to hear reactions to this movie from ppl who have worked [what seems a lifetime] in restaurants. Tysm!
Interesting, I like the whole narrative 😄 Funny.
Best video on this movie ive seen. Having you to give insights into the meaning behind each dish was awesome
Speaking of coming out if nowhere... this channel. What a gem!
I just had to come in today because if you are actually suggesting did Neil Patrick Harris is a middle age actor going after much younger if not underage girls as a regular thing as possibly the single best terrible read I've ever come across.😂That was essentially a read on Barney Stinson not NPH.
@@cheerfulsatanist I was talking about Casey Affleck. I know nph is gay. I just don't want to look at his naked ass.
Fun fact that is not fun at all, well I do absolutely love this movie and think it's great especially on multiple watches it did have a very negative downside in the real world... Obviously people make connections from this to Laci Peterson however because of the plot twist it created a massive swelling of people insisting that this was an implication that Scott Peterson was in fact innocent... So much so that there were serious conversations about a mistrial... The idea of him being tried again because clearly it wasn't as slam dunk as it initially seemed similar to Nick.
i watched both this movie and hunger, as a creator i completely understand the tragedy of going from hobby->profession ->burnout the vicious cycle of wanting to satisfy yourself and also keeping up with demand so the lights are kept on really sad to see
24 year restaurant veteran here. The Bear gave me a visceral reaction. Couldn't finish the 1st episode.
Found this video in my suggested videos. Do not regret watching it. This is content i did not know i needed.
Beautiful analogy
i would love to see more from you!
How did it take the algorithm gods this long to recommend you?? You're a hoot! I wanted to be chef at one point in time. Then I got my first waitress job and decided customers were too mean/picky and it wasn't worth it. I love to cook and bake for people. It's how I show I care but yeah, people are mean and my plating skill are severely lacking lol. I'll stick to cooking for the folks who don't care that it looks a little messy long as it's tasty. Oh my goodness, now I'm dying for a cheeseburger because that one looked so good! 🤤
I know the video isn't really about asking suggestions, but I think "Proko" is a pretty good YT resource for drawing. He has a lot of anatomy tutorials where he covers every muscle group and boney landmarks and uses some mnemonics that help memorize the shapes, but he also has total beginner tutorials where he focuses on the fundamentals, on improving your confidence in your lines, understanding shape design, volume, gesture drawing, shading, visualizing stuff in 3D and so on. It's more realism-focused, but it is all applicable to an anime style. Good luck on your art journey!
Funny story: I first watched this movie with zero context. I thought it was gonna be more like Burnt than what it was. But i fell in love with it for its cinematography more than anything and breaking down of expectations of horror movie tropes, like when the guy was hiding in the chicken coup. Thats usually the part in horror movies where a hand reaches in and grabs the dude and rips him to pieces but instead he was carrying a plate of food.😂 That being said I loved your review. There was so much stuff that I completely missed like the story telling through the plates of food. Phenomenal. And I found it funny that you said Midsomar was like the opposite of this movie, cause I couldn't stand that one.
Dang if you worked waffle house....this movie aint even close to the wildest shit you've seen in a restaurant then lmao
The Menu is my 3rd favourite film of all time, I love it more every time I re-watch it. Also!!! If you want to see the actress who played Elsa (Hong Chau) in more stuff, she was recently in Yorgos Lanthimos' newest movie Kinds of Kindness which is also in my top 5 lol, I will warn you though Kinds of Kindness is a MUCH more messed up movie then The Menu so please if you are sensitive to gore and stuff in any way check the trigger warnings :)
subbed 🌹
As a person with food allergies, I always fear what the kitchen thinks when I ask to leave something off or need a replacement. These days the staff seems to be understanding and willing but in the past it was just scrape off and present type of serving. As I watched this movie I couldn't stop remembering the time we reserved a table from a fine dining place and told about my allergies two weeks beforehand, and as we were seated and served my spouse had ox meat in nut sauce that had been in the making for 12 hours and I had some sort of tofu soup. I don't know how to take that in but as a customer at the time I felt cheated. So after The Menu I tend to imagine Ralph Fiennes in the kitchen and it makes my allergy requests even more exciting.
Holy shit. I’m so glad I found this video exact moment I did. A perfect climax to my evening.
never realized until now that the two cops at 16:08 were the main characters from Wellington Paranormal (basically COPS meets The X-Files)
So I'm ex culinary and this became one of my top 5 movies of all time. This year I was blessed to go to Mini Bar for my birthday (a bucket list experience for me) and after the meal our servers said that they assumed my husband and I must have been in food service because it the first time any costumers had stacked the dishes when we were done with a course. It made me so sad that people didn't try to make it easier for the wait staff just because it's fine dining.
We all gonna ignore that “Let it Go Elsa” 😂😂😂
Love this review. Im not a fan of gross out horror, but i do like a clut/physiological horror as it rides the edge of possible reality. As a former service worker i dont know how many times I've wished the drunk jerks would just ummm... have trouble swallowing that 10th beer. 😅
This was some phenomenal analysis! (I did briefly feel offended when you said you didn’t like the show 'Hannibal,' but the gore reason makes sense haha)
I really love your Untamed analysis videos, your vids + canary3d’s breakdowns just make me love the story even more than I already did
The novel as whole absolutely was a lot more morally complex. The show made wwx the good guy and jgy & co the bad guys. The end. The novel wwx did a lot of f*cked up stuff instead of basically being framed (thou that happened too). Lwj even says when questioned that he doesn’t know if wwx's actions are right or not and that he simply doesn’t care. 🤷♀️ Like I get that the Chinese government doesn’t like morally complex characters but it’s still a loss. The novel had a lot to say about the nature of good and evil and presented wwx and jgy very interestingly as the two sides of the same coin. But then again the same effect can be seen with Word of Honor/farway wanderers where in the novel they are straight up pretty bad people whereas the show portrays them as people who have done bad things but are still ultimately good.
I hit the like button when you started ranting about molecular gastronomy 😂 which is how I usually respond to it. I mean I love watching documentaries about it like I would watch an art documentary. But eating it... Nah...
I could listen to you for days and weeks. Subbed. Cheers!
Greetings from the Algorithim. From the moment you popped off about the oyster, I knew this was going to a great trip, I also loved the bits of attention you gave to each dish and bits you shared from your service career. Wonderful video! Subscribed.
The guest list is like the kitchen and staff got together and were like "k, what sorts of guests do you HATE?" and then came up with a wish list of who they'd like to kill: a food critic, a B-list celebrity, business bros, the obsessive foodie fan, the super rich people who don't really care, the owner, their family.
YESSS THE GLOVE BIT "where are your gloves!!!" girl i wash my hands every time i touch a f**king ingredient im fine!!!!!!!! (though i've also seen kitchens where chef touches his sock and then the steak and then scratches his nose and touches the steak again lmao)
Hurt people,hurt people.
What a missed opportunity to call it an unhappy meal
Sk8 is so relatable. I still don't know if my acceptance of my life at this point and shutting myself out is a good thing. It gave me some thoughts. Perhaps I should make some moves in my live. I also wanna see the season 2 and have Reki meeting his childhood friend again. I would give a lot to see it.
I wish I watched it when it came out, but I couldn't. But when I finished it it felt satisfying.
I think the point of the film is really about how a tremendous and accomplished chef can always be whittled down to basics to prove that not a food has to be the best to be good. Your take ain't bad but I don't agree with it wholly. The Menu is still a great film and I will rewatch it over and over.
The Menu was so dark but so funny.
this one of the best reactions/reviews ive ever seen and i am in awe of your intelect
Moral of the story: smores are everything that's wrong with our modern society
Great reaction!
Hong Chau is such an amazing actress. Everything she's in she knocks it out of the park.
I'm so happy to have found your channel, your commentary is so refreshing and you're so enigmatic ❤ the intro did give me pause bc of how much I love Hannibal (TV) but I'm excited to see if you've covered it in a separate video
5:14 the curtains are blue bc the curtains are blue ahh energy 💀💀💀
God, I love the actor and his assistant. They're so toxic and perfect for each other.
Relentlessly on point. One or both people are likely carrying a multitude of silent resentments, big or small. No relationship "just works," unless its in the honeymoon phase, and that doesn't and shouldn't last two years.
I legit freaked out in the theater because we left Driftwood Beach to see the movie.
