thanks
You're welcome! 😊
Great tutorial! Thanks so much. Beautiful block and fabrics! Subbed!
Yay! Thank you! I'm so glad you like it!
I have sound. I am having fun piecing my y's together. Here's a tip I figured out about a third of the way through doing the first two pieces: No need to grope from the back to get your pin through on the mark. Simply make a pilot hole by sticking the pin through from the wrong side first. Then remove it and turn the fabric around and use the new hole. If you have trouble seeing it, hold your fabric up in front of your sewing machine light and the light will shine through.
That's a great tip! I've also suggested drawing your cross lines on the Right side of your angled piece.
I have no sound, is this with everyone or just me?
I have sound both on my phone and laptop.
Where IS the patterns? Is it for sale or free?
As this is a quilt along, a new block pattern comes out each week through February 6th. It's absolutely free! :) You can download the fabric requirements on the website: ronatheribbiter.com/charming-spiral-quilt-along/. Each Thursday a post goes up on the blog with the new block pattern download and an email is sent out with the current and all past blocks.
I went to your website and didnt see the download. I subscribed but didnt get the email. It wasnt in my spam or trash. I'll check again in the morning.
I just saw your email about this issue and responded. I think we can get this sorted! :)
❤❤❤
Good job on lining up your corners. Thank you for this tutorial. Didn't start yet, but it's suppose to be really cold this coming week. A lot of sewing to get caught up with.
You're most welcome. Yay for more sewing time! :)
Thanks again for doing this series, and taking the time to teach us your techniques.
That is way too much to make a nine patch. Just do the strip way
There's definitely multiple great ways to make a 9-patch. Also, it's easier to get and use the pre-printed grids. I would have used one if I had the right size. :)
My first sewing machine; it is a Sears; said you could sew over the pins. I wish you had shown us a close up of the machine going over the needle.
I haven't yet figured out a good angle to put the camera on my machine. But my new camera just arrived. I will add this to the list of things to film as soon as I can set it up. Thank you for the suggestion!!
I talk to myself and hum Enya. I am so happy I found you! I have learned that most of the things I am doing is not being done correctly, but I will start doing things the correct way now. I was wondering why my material was not laying straight and flat, but now I know it is because I have been ironing and not pressing. I love quilting and the entire process. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I'm so glad you found me too!! I'm always on the hunt for new techniques and tricks to be a better quilter. I also love to share what I find! 😁
Love the walking tour of Sydney. Your description of Sydney as being in the middle of Nebraska, is a bit off base. Sydney is actually very close to the Colorado border and closer to The Wyoming border than it is to the middle of Nebraska. su
How large is the quilt?
The quilt finishes at approximately 83 x 83 inches
I see you are using Holly Taylor fabric. I love and have all of her collection. Sorry to hear she is done designing fabric. Going to miss her. I think I will be using Kansas trouble fabric. I also collect her line also.thank you for the tutorial.
Her fabrics are so lovely! I had to buy everything the shop had left. :)
I got a brand new janome machine
Nice!
You line up seams like I do. I've never seen anyone else doing that. My sister and I signed up for the Reno quilt show. We have one lecture and one class with you. Looking forward to it!
Oh yay! I'm excited you'll be joining us in class!!
thx
You're most welcome!
nice little trick/technique on this one.
Why thank you!
I listen to audio books
I like to listen to audio books when I'm on road trips. Love Patience Griffith's Scotland series! 😀
Where did you get the background fabric and the jelly roll? It’s beautiful
Thank you! The background is Moda Grunge and the jelly roll is the Wild Iris collection, also from Moda. 😀
@ thank you so much for your quick response. You did a beautiful job.
My quilt is going to made of old sheets and will be mostly blue and green with purple flower accents. I am going to call it Guests Remembered. I figured out my color way and have blocks A and B done. Yay! Can't wait for the next step.
Oh what a fun quilt! I can't wait to see how it comes out!
Thanks.
You're welcome!
Glad I found you.
I'm glad you found me too! 😁
I was hoping for a more introductory video starting with selecting colors. It looks to me like your pattern could be 11 colors. Are you actually using 11 colors? I am not using jelly rolls so I will need to buy 11 colors, so how much of each? It looks like you used your background color in the Block B but not in Block A. Is that correct? So your "white" background is the pale yellow/green color in the picture?
The only color I selected was the background fabric. It's a Moda grunge "off white". For the rest I'm using jelly rolls, a charm pack and mini charms. The pattern is meant to be "scrappy" so you can use however many fabrics you'd like. If you haven’t already, you can get the entire fabric requirements at the link in the description. I also did a little introduction video ua-cam.com/video/LFuDf3Qux90/v-deo.htmlsi=4UhnX9sO4uAE8hh0
I am a new quilter so right now I just focus on what I am doing to make sure that I don't screw up. But later it will be country music
One step at a time. You're doing great!
I like to listen to oldies and yes I sing along!
"oldies" are the best!
Not starting yet, but watching while sitting in hubby's hospital room. I'll save the instructions to start it later. (He's got pneumonia.)
Any time is a good time. I hope your hubby gets better soon!!
I live in Grand Rapids… I guess I should go sometime…
Nice recap. You just popped up and I love your cheery enthusiasm. Scott Flanagan's patterns are some of my favourites from magazines along with Wendy Shepherd. I've reached the point of trying to design my own quilts now. Making my first quilt using Tula fabrics. I just love the brightness. Chitter Chatter Fabrics in BC has Tilda, I find it a little dull for me but it's nice to see in person. Thank you.
So much fun the EPP item is my favorite so far.
the algorithym brought you to me out of the ethers-- super enjoyed your show and tell. I've been quilting since 19** and don't NEED more stuff, just appreciate all the new things. yup, great-grandma taught me to starch the X out of fabric, whether stitching by hand or machine, and I always have. but now we can't buy premade liquid starch anymore! so, I guess I'll moxey down to the quilt store and try some of that Magic spray solution. we'll see... it may or may not be cost effective. as a follow-up, at least this quilter would like to hear your review on this in the future, to compare with my yet-to-be experience. I enjoyed your show, and now follow
My favorite was Tilda Fabric can’t wait till it comes out❣️🪡🧵✂️💗💓💕❤️
You're going to love the new fabrics!
What a great recap! Thank you for sharing. Not sure what my favorite was, I liked it all
So do I! I just want to play with all the goodies! :)
At 10:08 into the video when you showed us the lefthand side of the brochure with the pink barn, I even spotted a PINK CHICKEN! TOO SUPER CUTE!
I LOVE the chickens!!
Merci de prendre le temps de nous faire partager vos trouvailles et les nouveautés
You're most welcome!
Confirming, the QR code link works as expected
Yay! Good to know!
You were Blessed with winning at market
I definitely was! Which means I get fun things to give away at a future date. :)
Love the Tilda update
Love me some Tilda! 💚
What a fun video! Thanks
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Loved the video! Thank you for all those updates. I love Tilda and Tula. Great designs!
I was hoping for a quilt show and discussion of entries;
The music is too much. Couldn't finish the video.
Tentmakers of Cairo are my favs in this one. Thanks for sharing!
They're one of my favorites too!
This is great! The shop looks fabulous!
It really is!
This is exactly what I needed to know today! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
hi Rona! Nice to meet ya. :P
well hello! :D
Your tours all around make me want to shop local everywhere.
There are amazing shops all over! Even in some pretty remote places. :)
do you sew on the plane? lol
The only sewing I do on board a plane is hand stitching.
hi so do I carry this in a suitcase? or a cardboard box?
Neither. If you do not have a cover for your machine, you can carry it as is. Just make sure to take off the needle and foot and put them in the machine storage box so they don't get lost/broken.
Sending hugs and love for your loss ❤❤. Glad to hear everything fun you're planning.
Thank you! The retreat is definitely a welcome distraction. 🥰
@@RonatheRibbiter oh good. 🤗 and you're welcome.
