Featuring a markedly more sobering atmosphere, “The Empty Hourglass” explores both new moods and new genres for the neo-noir maestro. Garage and techno are key flavours in this new 3-track package, enveloped in themes of regret, hopelessness, and longing. At the center of it all is the nostalgic, nocturnal vibe that made “The Darkened Path Ahead” such a standout release.

I pulled the strings of a puppet that portrayed me to the world, but I knew that someday those strings would snap, leaving me exposed.
