Hello and thanks for visiting my channel. A bit of background for anyone interested....
I've decided to challenge myself and try to do some basic recordings of as many cover songs as I might know. There's no agenda to these uploads, I'm basically recording how I practice. I like the idea of keeping things a bit looser, I want to make things simple for myself.
There will be no multiple takes or edits, no rehearsing the song before I record it and no multiple cameras. There will be mistakes, but I'm playing most of these songs from memory and the idea is that these recordings represent how I would tackle these songs if I was going to be playing them in a cover band situation.
Thanks for visiting the channel and I hope you enjoy.

Good morning. I found the song for you ua-cam.com/video/c2HaN8AglS8/v-deo.html NAÏVE - Heroes of Our Time Alexander "The Surgeon" Zaldostanov is boss of Moscow Biker's Club "Night Wolves" (friendly for Hell's Angels of USA and Canada, I met bosses of Hell's Angels in Moscow Tattoo Convention in 1995), I knew him in 1987-1995 personally. After that he stand friend of Mr Putin and very rich man, and he forgot old friends as me LOL. About the song: I guess It's will be good idea for your cover.
I'll reply to your comment here because my comments disappear in the replies, bro. No offense. ****** I'll let you in on a terrible secret, James (your name is James, ain't It so, if I remember correctly). The people of the USSR didn't suffer at all. These are all fairy tales for fools. Western propaganda and all that. I really don't like communists, because they are morons - they didn't know how to govern a country. However, the worst secret (for a westerner) is that only Russians are capable of living WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION to their own government. If heavy metal was banned, I listened to it illegally. All the albums and all the bands could be bought on the black market, it was no problem at all. By 1988, I had 686 Western metal bands in my collection, that is, the ones I had heard or had recordings of. I was 18 then and had been into rock and metal since I was 13. Anything illegal in the USSR could easily be bought. Of course, a little more expensive, but what can you do. You have to pay for pleasure. A Russian person will survive anywhere, anywhere on the planet, in any country, in any society and under any politics and conditions. Russians are like cockroaches. I have one friend, he hangs out with black gangs in Los Angeles, and he's a Russian dude. The blacks accepted him into their gang. You can understanding? A white dude, Russian, in a black street gang. I was invited too, but to join a Latino gang. I declined because I'm too old for that, I'm 54, and I had my own gang 30 years ago. I just love music, I love metal, I love girls and beer, I love good cars - I have a black and yellow Hummer 3, and I really like it when no one bothers me, especially the Russian government. 😉
Awesome job dude!
@@mikecottondrums thanks man. One of the greatest tracks ever recorded IMO... Thanks for watching.
Это слишком простая песня. Попробуй сыграть Among The Living или Caught In A Mosh
i just recorded about a dozen Anthrax covers.. i'll give you one guess as to which song i didn't cover... haha.... i actually don't know Caught in a Mosh that well, i'll have to revisit it... i can't remember the arrangment at all!!
@@JJDrumsChannel U didn't cover to Antisocial or Indians.
@@Fox.Crueger i have now... but not posted yet... soon though, gotta pace myself with the uploads... haha...
Sevrn hundredh. My pleasure!
thank you for the sub! glad to have you on board!!
Check this cover of "Tom Sawyer" ua-cam.com/video/9x4bfHllX2A/v-deo.html
"Smoke on the horizon, well Fire..."
The cult - a very underrated band. I've been a fan for 30 years.
i just did another version of this song with my updated audio setup... stay tuned i'll post it very soon!!
My favourite!
one of my favorites too!! such a cool song, and the saxophone solo is just icing on the cake... thanks for watching! cheers...
Also, I would to recommend Living Death "Protected From Reality" of 1987. Living Death was german speed-metal band, and in this album no one bad song, at my taste. U know, real brutal teutonical metal LOL *** Reiner Kelch - guitar Dieter Kelch - bass Frank Fritche - guitar Torsten Bergmann - vocals Atomic Steif (real name Guido Richter) - drums ** Atomic Steif in those times was age 19 ;) ua-cam.com/video/-qUtCb5D8NM/v-deo.html
Привет, коллега-драммер. Как всегда неплохо, только одна проблема - звук несколько глуховат. Могу дать совет: обклей стены пустыми упаковками от яиц. Ты удивишься, как изменится звук. В лучшую сторону. Hello, fellow drummer. As always, not bad, only one problem - the sound is a bit muffled. I can give you a tip: cover the walls with empty egg cartons. You will be surprised how the sound changes. For the better.
@@Fox.Crueger thanks man.. I did the egg carton idea years ago in an old rehearsal space and I wasn't a fan. It deadens the sound because it kills room reflections and I really like playing drums in lively spots. It makes them come alive. Playing drums in a padded room isnt very exciting. It might yield a better recorded sound for some people, but I like the sound of what I have in that space. Different strokes for different folks, ya know? But I always appreciate suggestions. By the way, I checked out that MARS album you suggested to me, and I really like it. Tommy Aldridge is amazing on that album.
@@JJDrumsChannel Well then, I wish you success and hope to hear a drum cover of one or two MARS songs soon.
@@Fox.Crueger as soon as I saw Rudy Sarzo and Tommy were involved I knew I'd like it. Where did you discover that album? I'd read 1000 interviews with Tommy but never heard him mention the MARS project before... Did you just pick it up randomly at a store? Sometimes I used to just buy albums because I thought the cover was cool, but there was always a good chance the songs sucked! Haha.
@@JJDrumsChannel Well, I first heard this album in 1988 in the USSR. The thing is, metal was banned under the communists, so we listened to what we could find illegally. I was 18 then, and I actively listened to all the metal I could get my hands on. One of my friends showed me this band MARS, and I liked it right away. There aren't many bands that don't have a single bad song on their album. It was a project of one of the famous metal producers, I forgot his name, created specifically for Tony MacAlpine as a power metal guitarist. The album was recorded in two weeks at a studio in California. There was also a second album, but without vocals. Tony's solo album. So, the band MARS recorded only one album, not a single concert and not a single video was created. They stupidly did not promote the album for sale, so few people know about this album (except for me, and now you). Rob Rock still performs some of the songs from this album live, you can look it up, there are videos on UA-cam.
Also, I would to recommend Living Death "Protected From Reality" of 1987. Living Death was german speed-metal band, and in this album no one bad song, at my taste. U know, real brutal teutonical metal LOL ***** Reiner Kelch - guitar Dieter Kelch - bass Frank Fritche - guitar Torsten Bergmann - vocals Atomic Steif (real name Guido Richter) - drums **** Atomic Steif in those times was age 19 ;)
The drums in this song are really great.
thank you...

thanks alot.. one of my favorite songs to play along with.... thanks for watching...
Holy shit! I haven’t heard this song since high school!! Great job!! 🤘🤘
Thanks! I hadn't listened to it for years so I'm actually kinda surprised I remembered all the parts as well as I did. Haha.
🤘
thanks man... i did it for norm... haha....
Cool! This is a song a true fan knows!
oh man!! David Silveria was one of my very early drum heroes.. severely underrated IMO....
Sweet cover! 🤘🏻
Thanks a lot!
Nice!! One of my favourite bands! Good to see you back dude! Watched a drum cam of adrian edlasson playing tortured soul asylum and it was effortlessly played!
@@bencross3759 thanks for the nice words... Yeah I took a bit of a hiatus but wanted to get back to doing covers again. Hoping the new batch is a bit more enjoyable for everyone. Adrian is an awesome drummer and a great guy. Had a quick chat with him once and he was very humble. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
@@JJDrumsChannel your a decent drummer, I’m checking out your work! I play guitar but nothing better than a good drum cover! He was my favourite cradle drummer, I’m a little jealous lol I’ve only ever met Wednesday 13 and his band but that was back in 05 but he’s a great guy too!
@@bencross3759 adrians era was my favorite COF lineup as well.. Damnation and a Day is incredible.... nice that you met wednesday 13, i'm a huge murderdolls fan and just recorded 5 or 6 songs from the women and children first album, so i'll be releasing those very soon...
@@JJDrumsChannel cool look forward to them!

yeah, i've got 3 floor toms setup nowadays... it's fun!!
More Satyricon!!
Great style, bro. Peaceful and smooth
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching
Awesome job! what kind of kit is that?
thank you... it's a Tama Granstar kit... stayed tuned, at some point i'll likely do a video talking more in depth about the kit since i get a lot of questions about it... Thanks for watching...
Sorry for writing a second comment, my undercomments are just disappearing. So, if you suddenly don't like these russian bands that I showed, then try to make a cover of this (+++). This is an superband, read the description to see who was there. This is one of my favorite bands in 40 years of my life. Of course, I do not insist on my request. But maybe it will be interesting to you. ua-cam.com/video/2VSGDnzHFuY/v-deo.html
no worries... it's funny that you posted about MARS... i was talking with a friend of mine about Tommy Aldridge recently and i've been looking for more projects that Tommy worked on so this is a perfect chance to check out that music... thanks for the link,
Mir hat es gefallen, großartig, du hast keine erfundenen Teile hinzugefügt, du hast es so gespielt, wie das Lied ist, und Lombardos Outfit war großartig
thanks for the nice words... i'll admit, sometimes i do add things when i play this song, but this time i tried to keep it closer to how dave originally played it... it's not perfect, but the basic idea is there... thanks for watching
@@JJDrumsChannel keep playing, you're awesome!!

Superb
Thank you! Cheers!
_Those kick drums man! 🏆 Champion!_
thank you... always loved this song and band... thanks for watching...
@@JJDrumsChannel I don’t know if it’s possible for you to do it or not, but there is a plug-in called Decapitator. I was curious if it was able to be added to your drum sound as you’re playing?
Great drumming! Do you mind if i use this track for a guitar and vocal cover?
thank you... yes by all means feel free to use it for your cover.... thanks for watching and looking forward to seeing your cover!!
damn u s good drummer, how long u spent on that song?
@@spookychickenugget thanks for the compliment... I've been listening and jamming along with this song for a few years, but this take is completely unrehearsed. I'm just playing a bunch of ideas off the top of my head here, so I thought it would be fun to post since I'll likely never play the song the same way again. Thanks for watching... Cheers!
He's like the human version of a midi drum programming
thanks for watching...
Sounds great.
Excellent!
Outstanding sir!! 🫡
That small drum solo must have been difficult to learn, sounds incredible
it's a very weird one... i've never really sat down to learn it exactly, so i just kind of make up my own thing and hope that i come in at the right part... haha... thanks for watching...
Awesome drum cover, keep up the great work.
Thanks, you too!
Great job 🥁
thank you...
Dude I’ve tried sooooo hard to try and play this but I can never get my arm to stop playing at the same time with my foot
that's definitely the hardest thing to get down with drumming IMO... keep at it and eventually your limb independence will be 2nd nature... thanks for watching...
Sick! Well done on the bridge groove! Nice playing dude!
thank you... such a fun song (and album) to play along to... thanks for watching...
