Jim neyland was a bad ass! He knew how to talk to the players and tell them how it is and the players knew he meant it outta respect even if it never sounded that way at times! Even though they didn’t win the World Series ,I’m forever grateful for the memories JL gave me when he was the tigers manger! Well deserved Hall of famer!

It dawned on me recently that Bonds never truly bought into this team, or any team, because anyone who played for Jim Leyland would know his position on steroids and that taking them for competitive advantage is wrong. No discussion required. Can you imagine juicing up later in your career, running into Leyland, and being able to look him in the eye? Also, I've read a number of anecdotes over the years about Leyland ripping into a guy or a group, walking away, coming back, and yelling all over again. 🤣 I loved playing for blunt and direct coaches like that as a kid. You never wondered if you were doing something wrong and if you did something right you still should have done it better. Congratulations to Jim Leyland on his HOF induction

At this moment every player on the team saw Leyland wasn’t a punk.He didn’t take crap from the best player in the league, so you know he wasn’t taking crap from you.

Jim had huge balls. The only other coach I observed do this over the last decade was Patriots Offensive coach Bill O’Brien when he tooled out Tom Brady on the sidelines. It took Huge balls to do this as Brady was an established superstar and the team owner, RKK, treated Brady like a son. Nevertheless, Jim was a great manager and a disciplined leader.
