Did you film the entirety of the cancan? If so, could you upload it please??
Hello, thank you for your videos. I’ve been doing photography for a few years, and I’m looking for some nice spots for street photography in the area. I’m watching you from Meudon, France.
Hi Marc, thank you for watching :) I'm working on a street photography guide to Paris. Stay tuned, it might interest you :)
I find your videos really interesting. I'm in the 1% of female viewers, and am a beginner at street photography. I'm also visiting Paris in February, so I enjoy seeing where you go and what you shoot :)
Thank you for pitching in 🙂👍🏼📷 if you need any advice on where to go during your future trip, let me know ✅
Hi Lazhar. The two women at 05:55 really caught my eye, maybe they were daughter and mother (turquoise jacket) or the younger woman was a carer for the older woman. The way she lead the older woman by the hand was an interesting dynamic (I think I would of followed them for a while). Also, I have been watching English photographers doing street photos in Paris. It is interesting to see what they see as outsiders. Stay well, my friend.
Hi Colin, always great to have your perspective 📷👍🏼 id love to know which English photographers. Feel free to drop a link or two. Stay well 📷
It is great to learn from you first hand experience of that Nikon camera. I prefer your Panasonic B/W photos in this case.
Thanks Michael 🙂
Good catch of photos (near Place d'Italie if I am not wrong), skillfully shot, all subjects all look very natural, undisturbed, which is very cool. Many thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your input. Much appreciated (yes not far from place d'Italie) 😉
Hi Laz, been shooting for 7 or maybe 5 serious years, fujigang moving on to LUMIX s9 with sigma contemporary due to poor Fuji autofocus. Actually in Paris for this weekend mainly in 17th arr, live in miami, for now :) ... I enjoy how you create different challenges
Hello friend, so glad you enjoy the content. I hope you'll have a great tine in Paris this weekend. Next time, let me know in advance, we can team up for a street photo session 🙂👍🏼📷
"You have to challenge yourself as a photographer with something new every day. Sometimes it's simply the reflection in a window." Joel Meyerowitz
I love your videos. Was still watching the previous video and am so glad a new one came out already! I’m a beginner, but have been very glad to not have you talk about the basics. I shoot with a Sony a6000 still, but frequently shoot at 24 (36mm ff equivalent) and will be trying out the Sony 40mm soon as well.
Thank you for watching my friend 🙂 the Sony a6000 is a very capable camera. I hope you're having fun with it and the 24. I totally recommend the 40. It's a bit pricey but it's worth it in my opinion 🙂📷🙏🏽
WOW! Very cool and informative video! Thank you!
Thank YOU for watching 👍🏼📷🙂
Les photos super 😊 le cancan j’adore
Merci beaucoup. Content que ça vous ait plu 😉📷
Exactly made the same choice on going with the a7cii + 40mm 2.5 G because I wasn't happy with the AF on the x100vi. For still, x100vi was great but with two toddlers, it was pretty much useless unless I instructed them to stay still- which is impossible! Thank you for this pov!
I can relate about the toddlers. There's no way to make them stand still more than 2 seconds 📷😊 Glass you like your combo. Competition is coming (Leica Q3...) but I'm confident the Sony a7c2 combo with the 40 will stand its ground 📷👍🏽🙂
Again, I enjoyed the video a lot. Your commentaries do help to get why you took the pictures as you did. Thanks a lot! Love that you put yourself to these challenges.
Hey Dirk, thank you for heartwarming comment. Glad you find value in this content. Stay well 📷👍🏽🙂
super ! on voit les danseuses du cancan de Monika !
Merci pour votre énergie et la bonne humeur 🙂🙏🏽
HI Lazhar. It is good you are confronting issues in your videos that are a concern to you and that improve your photography as a result. This was a good theme to help with your having an introverted nature. The street corner with the purple wall was a perfect location to start as you had people coming from different directions and that was a good place to capture groups of people. The photo booth was a good opportunity to take pictures of people holding the photos they had done in booth, it is an idea you can always go back and do another time, especially if it is a couple. I liked the photo of the guy with the blue bag by the mail box. Plus, I now know that the mail boxes in Paris are yellow, compared to the red ones we have in London, and blue ones in New York. I think we take and create pictures depending on what we are doing, and sometimes, doing one leads to the other. The woman sitting by the fence amongst the crowd is my kind of photo as she looked totally out of place which made a good visual narrative (staying around a bit longer and shooting her from different angles could of been interesting). I liked the photo of the woman at 11:31 as it was simple which made it subtle. It came across that you enjoyed your day out taking pictures which is important, and as for the Can Can, it is lucky your camera had image stabilisation :-))) Sending good vibes my friend.
Hi Colin, happy to read your insights as usual. Yes, I have to linger more on certain scenes but I feel the walkie talkie keeps the energy up. One of my main inspirational book is Contact by Magnum and it says what you just said: work the scene. The Can Can was really fun. I stayed in touch with the group. Who knows ? I might organize another session with them. Stay well, my friend 🙂📷👍🏽
These photo walks and videos are a journey of self exploration and therapy for all of us
Thank you so much. It's heartwarming and means a lot 🙏🏽✨
"When I have a camera in my hand, I know no fear.” - Alfred Eisenstaedt
Good❤
Thanks 🙏🏽
what picture profile ? did u shoot on raw? amazing!!
Hello, yes I shot in raw and I apply Kodak Gold 200 film simulation
Great video , next time dont forget to take a picture of the priest !
Thanks for the tip, man 🙂
H Lazhar. Doing what you do best, starting with a theme and conveying your thoughts and influences as you go around. When I recognise someone you refer to I smile or if it is someone I don't know I go and look them up. I can see where you are going with the shot of the yellow bag :-) I hope you had a good weekend, my friend.
Thank you Colin, always a pleasure to read your feedback. Thanks for the support. This channel is still a work in progress and your feedback helps pointing in the right direction 🙏🏽🙂📷
⁉️ Why hide faces? Every known artist uses faces as a important part to show feelings and emotions. You can take a foto of the legs or the back of a person. The pictures without faces I delete immediately -- it makes absolute no sense. 🇨🇭
Thank you for sharing your opinion on this 🙂
Relaxed Sunday morning watching your video, people being people always make good photos, have a good day
Thank you for stopping by and sharing (and watching) 😊🙏🏽📷
The theme focused videos are great. And your comment is also, as you stay on track. Inspirational, thank you!
Hey Dirk, welcome back. Thanks for your support, much appreciated 🙏🏽,📷🙂
Nice photos man.. Yo, honest criticism...just how I felt watching the video.. When it started, I was into it.. Even when you were doing the warm-up shots, I was still into it.. But then you started talking about other photos and other videos and kids and books and ethics, etc etc... During that whole time, your video was still rolling tho.. But as you were talking, I was un-focused on what you were doing on the street, and I was totally removed from the "vibe / energy" you intended to bring us into, for the shots.. Just my opinion.. Stay a little more on track, a little more focused, and in the moment...for the viewer.
Hi. Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated 👍🏽 the viewer experience is my top priority 🙏🏼📷🙂
Esa combinación de camara y objetivo me encanta.la uso muchas veces y es genial
Si ! Es génial. Gracias por tu comentario, Jesus 🙏🏽🙂
The three pictures that I liked the most from this session contains bikes. Maybe this is your calling? Think about it ;)) Inspirational as always, my friend! Thanks!
I love bikes 😊 thanks for support, my friend 📷🙏🏼
Great insights and perspectives!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 😉📷👍🏽
Hope you're having a great weekend 📷😉
My first trip to Paris was made solely for the purpose of photography. Every video that I see reminds me of how beautiful a city it is. So many of your videos are right in the area that I photographed, from the 8th to the 3rd Arr. I look forward to being back again. Thank you for the wonderful posts.
Happy you enjoyed the video. Hopefully you'll be back again soon 👍🏽🙂📷 Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Ces photos noir et blancs sont even better! Quel est le processus d'editting?
Bonjour, c'est Nik Silver Efex 🙂👍
Many thanks for your prompt response. Looking forward to seeing more photos de Paris from you.
great job! Keep wowing us. I like your content a lot! Both of your over voice and photos are beautifully done, thank you.
Then you so much for your encouragement and for watching 👍🙂
Hi Lazhar. I like this video and a good idea from @RandomTech It is always interesting to watch a video like this because as a viewer one is looking for things to shoot from your own perspective as if you were there. The three women wearing coats that were red, green, and blue were worth stopping to ask for a shot with them lined up from left to right showing RGB, they can only say no, but once you explain an idea most people are happy to help. I liked the couple walking up the hill with the colour cast from the practicals through the window. Also, the padlocks on the fence using the angled foreground is one of the ways shooting this wide works best for me. Yes, maybe obvious, but that can be the right thing to do sometimes. The dirty frame is a favourite style of mine. The best thing to take from this video is that perseverance is rewarded, which you were, when the child on the bike with balloons came into frame. You must of been singing to yourself all the way home after that happened :-) Have a good weekend ahead, my friend.
Hi Colin. Always good to read your feedback and have your perspective. About the women, I have to do a session of shooting strangers but I need a good mental preparation as it's not natural for an introvert like me. Much easier to talk to an audience through a camera. I watched once a video of Jessica Kobeissi who has I think 2M subscribers and basically she said that, it's much easier to talk to an online audience of 2M than to stop a person on the street 🙂 and yes, the kid with the ballon and the father on the bicycle made my day. Stay well, my friend 🙏🏽😎📷
Are those stairs at around 8 minutes where John Wick IV was filmed?
Hi. No, they're on the other side of the hill. Thanks for watching 👍🏽📷
Glad you tried out my suggestion!! I thought your images came out fantastic! It's interesting that you also quickly figured out - it helps to have an object close in the foreground that fills in the frame. I thought the POV video quality was more than adequate. It just helps up better understand the environment - it doesn't need to be perfect. Keep up the great work!
It was an interesting challenge. Thanks again for the suggestion 😉📷
Another fantastic video! I’ve been shooting F/8 and it can be a bit more challenging than I imagined! There’s a big festival on my street this weekend so I’m excited to try more F/8 shots!
Thank you, friend 🙂🙏🏽 happy that the video inspired you to try this out. Feel free to share with experience 👍🏽📷
❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤
great video again !
Thanks man 🙏🏽😎📷
surprised you didn't snap the girl on the bike at 3:32 she had a great look with the coat :) the couple at 3:51 are such characters , like the shot at 5:13
Hi Brian, thanks for stopping by 🙂 I wanted to take a snap of that woman but she was a bit far and not detaching enough from the background. I'll do a street fashion session because there's a lot to shoot 🙂
How are you handling the personal rights of the f.e. the girl?
What do you mean "f.e" ?
@@lazhar_captures for example.
There is no personal rights in a public space as long as the dignity is respected. Freedom of expression prevails over privacy in public space in France. I don't know about elsewhere 🙂
@@lazhar_captures Ah that is super interesting! Seems France is a great place for Professional Photographers!
Interesting discussion, questions to think about. Lovely Paris. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it, Dirk. I'm happy that it's thought provoking :)
Hi Lazhar I understand this film as a free exercise for a specific purpose but I have a few observations: - covering heads, faces etc. by various elements of the city scenery does not seem natural to me - if we take a photo in so-called good faith, respecting the dignity of a person who is in public space according to such behavior is ok for me - I am shocked by the current mentality where image protection restricts the right to speech (when at the same time people themselves upload tons of their images to the internet), I think that the role of the media and publications is to shape a reasonable perspective and attitude of society, among others, towards photography - if we were to adopt the current schizophrenic standards - ban on photography and freedom of speech (with simultaneous unreasonable publications on the internet and omnipresent surveillance of cameras and other means of observation - which you rightly noticed) it would mean consent to further restrictions of freedom In general, I am in favor of photography taken with respect for other people (although there may be exceptions to this - documentation of special events) so that the 21st century can leave behind images that will serve future generations just as we do with photos from times past. As for digital manipulation and image transformation, the law should protect the citizen but it should also be properly addressed (e.g. not the photographer but the one who used algorithms to the detriment of the person and their image). I apologize for the long statement. Regards Raphael
Hey Raphael, thank you for pointing out those valid arguments. Yes, this pov session was more of an exercice, an experiment to push creativity somehow. I think yes that freedom of speech should always prevail and it's the photographer who should put his own boundaries within the limits of the law. As an example, for me, I prefer not to shoot homeless people and kids, but anyone can set his own rules. Bruce Gilden for instance has none "there's no ethics" he said. In the end, there's no right or wrong in my opinion, it's not like we were neurosurgeons. Nobody will die if we make mistakes 🙂 Photography is a big game and I treat it as such. i'm really thankful that you shared your insights and your views 😉
Hey Lazhar, do you have any presets? I'd love to buy some from you! These photos are very nicely edited, love the vibe!
Hi ! Unfortunately, I didn't set up an online shop yet. However, I can send you the file by mail for free as you're an early bird in my community 😉 My email adress is in my bio ✅
Hi Lazhar. I think it is important to practice taking pictures, no matter how long one has been shooting, and this video is a way of doing that and making it interesting. I practice verticals in pictures as I can overlook them sometimes. AI wont be able to create random events that take place on the street, although, we have to question whether or not to take the picture. An option for this video would of been to go to Roland Garros when a tournament was on. I will send you an image to the other place to explain. Have a good start to your week, my friend.
Hey Colin, thanks for stopping by. Yes, would love to discuss that 👍🏽📷🙂
Military vocabulary :))
😎📷
Good job again ! 🎉
Thanks my friend 🙂🙏🏽
I totally agree when you're saying that the history of photography can serve as a source of inspiration. I saw the amazing Chris Killip Retrospective in The Hague yesterday (which I cannot recommend enough!) and not only did it teach me once more how important moral and political attitudes are for the creation of a meaningful image; the exhibition also made me reconsider my own limited habits of composing an environmental portrait. And by the way - it's fascinating how those blurry foreground objects do not distract from the main subject of an image. On the contrary, by framing it, they even seem to make it stand out. There is a fascinating correlation between concealing and showing in an image. Very interesting technique, indeed!
Hi Andreas, thanks for giving your insight. I just checked Chris Killip's work and oh! My god ! I wish I was at the exhibition to see those images in real life. Thanks for sharing to the community 📷👍🏽 About today's session, I'm happy it brought some interest in your own photographic journey. It's the point of this channel 🙂
Hi, I love your videos! They are really a great with this format and your comments are awesome. Keep it up! I would like to know if it's possible for you to let us know how you edit the photos for the colors, or if you use a specific picture profile, or maybe a Fuji emulation? Thank you!
Thank you so much for stopping by 📷🙏🏼🙂 I'm actually editing the next video and will include an editing section at the end. Stay tuned. Release in 3 days 😉
I have the same camera and I hate the vlog-style screen. I find it hard shooting street with this screen. Attracts attention. Shame it doesn't come with the newer tilting screens.
Right ?! 😕 I find it harder and harder as well. Nikon is even worse with the Zf that is supposed to be a photo centric camera, yet, Flippy screen 🤦🏽♂️
