Friends Of Pangea EP:1 Jason T James Custom Car and Chopper Builder
This is an audio interview and photo slide show of my friend Jason T James. I used to work at a custom car shop in Southern California with Jason and he helped me put together my first street bike. Jason has worked on some of the most famous hotrods and customs built in that last 20 years and has owned and built a bunch of Harley Davidson choppers. check him out on instagram @jasonjames4523

When ever I try to record midi data in garage band with my Roland td07 v-drums the high hat rim and crash rims do not have a sound associated with the assigned midi note. This is how I remapped them to work a little better. If someone has a better way please leave a comment below.

In a couple weeks my friends and I will be riding our Harley Choppers down the California coast to the Born Free Vintage Motorcycle Show. We took the new bikes out for a spin to get some break in miles on brook's freshly rebuilt knucklehead engine and see what other tuning we need to do on Dannys Panhead and my Shovelhead before we leave for CA. #knucklehead #panhead #shovelhead
Ignition Condenser Test harley motorcycle
Переглядів 23 тис.Рік тому
A simple way to test an ignition condenser. this will work on most condensers but for this video we are focusing on Harley Davidson applications. there are better ways to test these if you have a capacitance meter but most of us do not have those in our chopper tool kits. I hope this helps people keep these old machines cruising down the road. www.pangeaspeed.com

Here is a walk through of this 1984 Harley Shovelhead that I just finished up. This isn't a full show bike like I usually build but I just wanted something that my wife and I could hop on and take a rip up the canyon or go to the hardware store on etc. I hope you enjoy the walk through and I added some riding footage on this one. #chopper #harleydavidson #shovelhead
How to make a cone pattern for exhaust pipes, intakes, velocity stacks, headlight trim….. etc.
Переглядів 253Рік тому
Making a “frustum cone” pattern. Basically draw a 2d version of your cone and divide it down the centerline so if you wanted a 1in cone to adapt to a 2in cone and you want it 2in tall you would draw a vertical centerline and at the bottom draw a 1in perpendicular line then go up 2inches and draw a perpendicular line that is 1/2 in long. Then connect those lines to find the center point of your ...

      @@pangeachoppers You got it! Yeah, that exhaust is a "Dirty Biker" setup marketed by Paughco. Great exhaust modeled after Dick Allen's 2-into-1 setup. Alphabets (Cycle Shack) started making that type of exhaust system back in the early 1970s. Back then, I told guys that 2-into-1 pipes were good for more performance over straight drag pipes. They look and sound great too! I'm glad to see a lot of guys running those kinds of exhausts.

    I know nothing about the Harley world, it's interesting to see the similarities of timing a mag on Harley vs a Triumph. Seeing how there is variation on the timing plug hole where things align, is it worth your time to use a piston stop and degree wheel to find the exact 35 BTDC spot on your bike and mark it on the plug hole ie verify that mark is correct?

    • @pangeachoppers
      @pangeachoppers Місяць тому

      @vorhese That is pretty much what I did on this motor when I was building it. Before I put the front head on I put the engine at tdc and zeroed the degree wheel. Then turned back 35 degrees and put that sharpie mark and a little scratch on the case so I knew exactly where it all landed. I also marked the pulley so if I want to use a timing light I don’t have to get covered in oil

  • @pangeachoppers
    @pangeachoppers Місяць тому

    I have been playing with that lately but honestly to me on these bikes it’s kind of all about getting them to start and so timing it while it’s running doesn’t really seem like the way to go. That’s just my opinion though. On a race bike Or something with an electric starter I would Absolutely go off a timing light.

  • @johnchristianfraser
    @johnchristianfraser Місяць тому

    Is it worth dynamically tuning these after with a timing light or do you usually find they’re dead nuts?

    Your fingers were shorting out the meter when you added charge, slightly discharging your cap.., and again when you tested the voltage, YOU were discharging the cap too. That is an odd way to test. I would suggest learning to test with a cheap ANALOG ohm meter, but also keep your fingers out of the circuit lol You can also spend more money on a multi-meter that has a separate capacitor/condenser test. You only need to know what readings are normal...good. I almost always pull out my cheap analog meter, with the mechanical needle, to test a condenser. You watch the needle jump just as you make your second connection, then quickly return....hopefully. Then switch your contacts around to test again; there may be a bigger bump this time because you charged the cap a bit.......again, keeping your body out of the circuit ;-) The needle jumps because there is a tiny bit of resistance, just for less than a second, till the condenser stops charging...has taken all that the meters cell or battery has to push. If you are not shorting with your fingers/body, the condenser should hold the charge...voltage depending on the meter's battery. With an analog meter and just the ohms setting, you can test and don't really need to know any numbers. Test a few known good ones so you know how the needle is supposed to behave. Make sure the meter has a good cell or battery.
