Confucianism Vs Mohism. Meme Analysis. How accurate is it?
Having read the Confucian canon (in Chinese) and made videos about his life (see links in the description) and the Mohist canon (with summaries of his philosophy), I’m in a good position to analyze the truth of both sets of assertions.

And why the Confucian should be the "chad".
The Warring States period in Chinese history ending in 221 bc was tumultuous. It was also the time in which the most significant Philosophers and reformers in China lived.
Mozi and Confucius were 2 of them.

Xiang Yu (c. 232- c.January 202 BC) King of Chu and the man who dealt the decisive blow to the mighty Qin dynasty at the battle of Julu, was a mighty warrior renowned for his strength in battle. How did such a man lose to Liu Bang (a peasant leader)? "Sharpen a sword too much and it will become dull"

Id still say confucious is the the right one here. There are down sides on each but confucianism is truer in a sense.
essentially they are approaching life with different questions in mind. Confucius focuses on how to be good - a junzi. righteous person-君子。 and describes this. Mozi's focuses more on political practicality. there is much to say about both philosophers.
mohism is about having a mohawk
I've always liked it better than Confucianism because a lot of my ancestors are consummate assholes
came to this video looking for info about Mo 麽教 or "Moism" the religion of the tai zhuang people of Guangxi province. Do you have any good books to recommend about it or any videos you could point me to? thank you
Maoism. Mohism. Moism. 3 very different ideologies with unfortunately similar spellings. Moism seems to have little information about it available beyond the Wikipedia article which has little to no researchable references. The Zhuang minority has plenty more interesting info - including this article. www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1872497322000229
@@sinolit seems like a gap in the literature, might have to dedicate an anthropological degree to them.... that article is interesting though! thank you! It would be much simpler if the english rendered it as mozism instead of mohism. Why is the 子 always dropped in these names when they are rendered in English

I enjoyed of listening of your video. The only thing I believe The location is Northeast Gaomi Township,China. good luck.
Oh that scene was soooo good. His story is so complicated and isn't about his hapless lucky nature... He had to exile his close friends,, endure terrible marriages and all was more of imposed circumstances than what he originally planned. Best scene in the series IMO.
yes. a very good scene. He endured much and the reason why he started the rebellion is telling - that he was essentially fighting for his life after failing to deliver the convicts to Xianyang on time and in full number. Also, the final scene in episode 80 is great too.

great video! the chengyu you selected perfectly encapsulates Xiang Yu!
thank-you.
Great scene! I didnt realize Fan Zeng was quoting something. Glad you showed the source. Most of the episodes really showed the many reasons why he lost the war despite having a vastly superior military force over Liu Bang. Simply put, he was a brute, nothing more, and he was unstoppable under certain conditions. In an “honorable” battle, Xiang Yu always wins. Alas, we cannot dictate what battlefield we will be fighting in..

😅😅😅i
Yes. it's a great source of wisdom. I am working on an analysis of Xiangyu and why he lost. Xiangyu was reputedly a fearsome warrior. He was also a man of "honour" at times. eg. at the feast of hongmen "鴻門宴" refusing to go along with Fan Zeng's plan of killing Liu Bang - a decision which came back to haunt him. I've come to have respect for this type of character. Ultimately, there is no stable "Han dynasty" and Liu Bang without the brute force of someone like Xiangyu to sweep the table of the Qin dynasty (at the battle of Julu).
I did not get this scene until it was mentioned afterwards by some generals in Chu putting down Han Xin. I guess back then information is passed down in this manner
The last episode 80 has Han Xin returning to his former haunts and there's some well earned plot pay-off to be found there.

This is great timing! Im almost finish with your earlier recommendation (楚漢傳奇). Great recommendation by the way and I look forward to seeing your other recommendations and looking back on your analysis

I remember this scene. Xiao He read documents beforehand and knew that the area was good for farming. It was very difficult to get there though but I guess it worked to their advantage since they were safe from attacks
@@seeanthonyn The Sichuan basin was still fairly new to the mostly Yellow River basin born civilisations - only being incorporated in the Qin conquest. It is plausible that Fan Zeng would know little about it - a fatal error.

Thank you very much for your research on James Legge. He is definitely a great inspiration for us.
James Legge needs to be known by more people. He was an incredible human being and it's sign of our times that so little is known of his legacy.
The Mongol word for warrior is, "Daichin ᠳᠠᠶᠢᠴᠢᠨ" in which the Jurchens of the early medieval period borrowed their lexicon to name their Jin dynasty, and once again in a reiteration for the Qing one: 2.0 Манжууд = 大清 Dài Qīng gurun ᡩᠠᡳᠴᡳᠩ ᡤᡠᡵᡠᠨ (дайчин ᠳᠠᠶᠢᠴᠢᠨ) 1644-1912 CE 1.0 Зүрчид ᠵᡠᡧᡝᠨ ᠵᠥᠷᠴᠢᠳ = 大金 Dài Jīn gurun (дайчин ᠳᠠᠶᠢᠴᠢᠨ) 1115-1234 CE Manchus are the latter Jurchens who are the easternmost, part Mongolic-Tungusic folks. So in more ways than one, the Qing dynasty was a fusion/hybridity of Manchu-Mongol polity.
We are in agreement that the "manchus" qing dynasty were not a mere replacement of family at the top. They considered themselves as different. Unfortunately, most people were unaware of subversion at the top due to the fact that so many turncoats co-operated with the new "regime"
