The most often asked question

What do I get asked the most? "How do you become a pilot?" This videos addresses a few different routes to obtaining your flight training, with an assumption one wants to fly for airlines or other "heavy" aircraft.
What is a critical engine?

If you're flying multi-engine airplanes, you'll want to be very familiar with the concept of "critical engine." It just might save your life!
SID vs ODP

Do YOU know what the difference is? Let's see what the AIM has to say about them, then look at an airport that has both a simple and a (little more) complex ODP.

love this guy talking
A400m has this.. eg here in Machynlleth loop ua-cam.com/video/pYsHJ2FVnOg/v-deo.html
Good job explaining
LOL Watch out for the meat missiles. Love it🤣
you mentioned the railroad tracks for Dead Reckoning. Wouldn't that be Pilotage? Pilotage is navigation by reference to landmarks or check points. Dead Reckoning is navigation soly by means of computations based on airspeed distance and direction. I'm studying to take my PPL so if mi wrong please correct m e Thanks, your descriptions are awesome
best you tube instructor so far!!! Thank Captain Chris
😂😂😂 The intro
I see you know exactly the kind of pilots I'm talking about....they're all over social media and usually crash in the first year of flying!😆😆
@@captainchris0211 😂😂 yup!
What things do you consider when planning a flight? Let me know below!
This helped me pass my exam within 3 days of first learning this all from UA-cam. Big thanks bro
Glad it helped and best of luck in your continued studies!!
Thank you. Can you shed some light on how to make such charts/maps? That will be great!
Thank you for explaining what my instructor could not do ❤❤❤❤
Glad it helped!
Former police Sgt. myself. Currently on month 6. I got my ppl +IR and working through my commercial cert. Thanks for the vid!
Best of luck!
Best explanation, thank you!
You're welcome!
What's the best way to tell distance
This explanation of RoP/LoP is of another level. Thank you. I couldn't understand these concepts... until now. Thank you so much!
You should watch Savvy Aviations "Obsessed with EGT" and you'll understand how wrong it is to be RoP.
Do part 91 operators require an atp lic?
@juandavidbuendia7151 legally? No. But that doesn't mean an insurance company won't require it...The company I work for requires one.
Can I get your email
A great review!
Chris. You have runaway 4 and 22 landing in opposite directions. Is that dependent on which way the wind is blowing for that day?
@felix07ish that's exactly right! Airplanes land with a headwind, not a tailwind. Sometimes the tower will "turn the airport around" or at an uncontrolled airport you simply chose the most favorable runway.
Great video, genuinely appreciate the advice. Any tips on getting into a job besides instructing as a new commercial pilot?
Great explanation man!
THANK YOU! What a great help!
makes much more sense now thanks for the tip
one word, thank you.
Thanks! Great explanation!
Glad it was helpful!
*L means PTT lighting control when field closed
If I were younger and had a collage degree, i’d get into commercial flying.
Thanks Chris! Landed at CHP got murdered and hacked up in tiny pieces by the cartel 😂😂 no fr ty brotha!
My home airport. Such a beautiful place. The lookout next to the resteraunt is a great place to plane spot with your kids and the runway so close makes for great views 👍🏻
nice explaination
Chris, please do a few more sectional chart reading sessions as you did in this video. Then keep adding more information. For example as you talk about the airspace, you then add on VFR requirements etc. Your sectional reading is the best I have seen among so many others. The red markings are so helpful. Many other videos are difficult to follow simply because I can't follow the little pointer fast enough, especially on the small screen of a phone, and the presenter tends to talk too fast.
Thanks!
Thank you!
Cessna 182 flyer here...... Awesome...social awareness video.... for all pilots...Be humble...✈️
How about using that GEM engine monitor?
7:52 class E is higher controlled then D? I thought D was more restrictive?
Spot on with the message here... Also, your CFI videos are top notch. I'd love to see more content.
Beautiful airplane, but please get some fabric on that landing gear!!
can you do some more Vedic like this?
that what I want thank you
you could fly for the military too
Thank you Chris, for this video and the list of the books you recommend to read.
Very welcome and best of luck!
Nice video. I have my CFI check ride coming up I'm glad I watched this at the start of my career.
Good luck on your checkride!
Outstanding advice! I'm going to share this with my students. In the Army, we have the value of 'Selfless Service'. Servant leadership and humility are KEY both in the cockpit and the work/social environment. Be humble, and OTHER people will brag for you. It's even key for Crew Resource Management and ADM. Like the blue angels say in their debriefs... "Happy to be here boss." Even the LEAD. Thanks for this!
Well said @ronsflightsimlab9512! I remember as a young ROTC cadet attending Airborne school seeing a newly minted 2LT helping a PFC shine his boots before formation one morning. It left a permanent mark on my memory of what to be...
Long time Airline Pilot here. Your recommendations are spot on. We are all qualified or we wouldn’t be here. We need to work together as a team. We need to contribute and take criticism in order to grow. At the major airlines, after the probationary period, Pilots are almost never fired for lack of competency, they are fired for their personalities. Being a pain in everyone’s ass and the company building a large file of incidents that you caused, will eventually get you hated by all and eventually fired. In my opinion, the two worst traits in my flying partner are arrogance and incompetence.
Spot on. Thanks for the comment and I appreciate you taking the time to watch and respond!
Does the prop system same for PA34 ?
wise words, just got my commercial yesterday
Great video , excellent summary of the pros/cons , I like that you bring a view from an entirely different segment of work into being a pilot .
Thanks @amgpete7735!
Nice explanations but assuming we know all that is bizzare. You end up skipping stuff I don't know and apperently I need to know all that to fly a drone.
She is alive and well and living in SE Kansas, treated with tender loving care. It is a great airplane.
Great to hear! We had some good times...
Thank you, Great refresher.
Where are you? Price?
