I didn't capture everything at Drag Challenge so we decided to turn the camera on and talk about some of the things that happened behind the scenes.

Great videos guys. Regrading crank & main bearings, I've built a 7AGTE bottom end with standard bearings (no groove) for street use and occasional entry-level track days. I'm just wondering if the bearings will be okay without a groove? The rest of the build is ported 16v smallport, 264/7.9 in/ex cams, standard valves (with angle cuts) late model GZE ceramic pistons, forged H-beam rods, oil-squirters and 3 harden steel dowells in the flywheel end of the crank. Turbo is is the larger disco potatoe. I'm aiming for 15psi boost. Obviously I don't want to spin bearings or do rebuilds - Do you think standard 7AF bearings will be okay? (The sump & head haven't been put on yet)
Thank you guys for putting the builds on here! I'm waiting in parts but I'm about to try and assemble my 1st engine, and a 7A at that, but all the things you guys share will help tremendously. I'm more of a visual learner so watching the videos over and over to do my build will really help and i can't thank you guys enough 🙌🏽🫶🏽

Saw your dyno video, u are correct, the dyno curve looks like it saw a choke somewhere on the intake and exhaust flow. My take on this is in the intake port mcsa, usually an intake minimum csa that is too small makes the dyno curve drop down on high rpm pull. Its like the bottom end wants to go more, but the head air speed is too fast already.. can we have more details on the head? Intake valve dimeter, exhaust valve diameter, intake port csa at the manifold flange, as well as the minimum csa of the intake port inside the head casting.

Why do they knife edge the outside of the crank and not the leading edges? Doesn't make sence to me.
Some yrs ago I did a Datsun 1200 engine for speeway use in NZ. I went radical and COMPLETELY removed the counter weights. Shit that thing could buzz.

People who have never restored cars before, having parts availability doesn't not mean it changes the price of a car. If anything it would mean that they will increase in cost. Replacement chassis and body panels don't mean a car gets cheaper. Look at muscle car or Beetle car restoration you can get newly manufactured body panels and chassis from factories in SA,EU, & Taiwan. Once you use modern metal components the price of your builds go up cause it's a sign of a proper restoration and the price of your build grows with it. It's different from performance parts. Putting money into a engine or suspension is sunk cost but body restoration is actually value gained.
i want to run a honda civic ef sedan with a b18 block and b16 head, with a modified interchiller jackson racing supercharger and jackspania UEL headers. for me its not about having massive power, i just want like have my own way of expressing what kind of car i would build

Hi may I ask, what were the troubles you encountered with the 4AGE swap on the E30? Was there a trouble with the drive shaft like the 3gs beams or trouble with the mount on? Any particular detail that needs to be looked at or changed? Turbo or non turbo (if non turbo I was taking of daily driving it - The ethos is there are plenty of 4age in my country and no 3gs in sight, maintaining a bmw engine though is hell expensive. If I could convert most parts to toyota or accesible one I would do so. The only important thing to me is that E30 is a rear wheel drive and if I can run it on rack and pinion, make the car lighter and more functional plus bit of performance when necessary. Any way to contact you?

Each time I watch these videos I learn something new. I have 2 FA Engines,1 Loyning and 1 Hasselgren. Both of mine run the TRD cast aluminum drysump oil pan but I see yours was a billet made pan. I would think that was made to add a little extra torsional rigidity to the engine.
