How to Read Your Digital Power Meter (NS Power Version)
Bro it's hot as hell In bc
@@dllionmoore9383 got to 30° here
How do I know when the meter was last changed?
You could ask your power utility. Otherwise, if you keep your bills or have access to your data online, look for when the reading was zero.
A Christmas Cactus is a tropical plant - not a succulent. It’s native to jungles.
I knew that it is not a cactus and is native to tropical jungles. Nevertheless it is frequently included in lists of succulents. Thanks for watching!
Mine says 80,000 kWh for the total is that a month?!
That’s most likely the total since the meter was switched on. Typical consumption is 600 kWh per month for household stuff, plus extra for heating and cooling.
The stairs up to the little bench are a lovely touch. I love the variety of shrubs available to grow in your area.
Thanks! We hired a landscape gardener to advise us. My only regret was not knowing more about the benefits of planting native species-it was simply not on our radar 20 years ago. The steps have a ragged left-right pattern that is now softened by vegetation. The nerd in me actually wrote a computer program to randomly offset them. I ran it over and over until one popped up that my wife liked, so I printed that one for the landscaper.
Nice work! ❤
You have a good sized garden with a nice selection of plants growing.
Thank you! I feel you have more space, or at least make better use of your space. I’m pretty happy with my harvests.
That’s a nice selection of herbs. That must be a nice protected space to have those little pots sitting along the edge.
We are on the south side of a hill, which protects us to some degree from prevailing winds, but it still gets gusty from time to time. We also get the odd hurricane!
Does it restart every two months and is it that number x 17 cents ?
No, the kWh continually updates and yes, that is about the current rate. Thanks for watching!
Awesome! So cool to relive that experience through your video. It seemed like an eternity on here but was a blink of an eye while watching it. Thanks for sharing!
Wow! It looks like it got way darker for you than it did for us. Thanks for posting. We were about 2.5 miles inside the northern edge of totality.
We were very close to the centre line
I'm SOOO grateful for you sharing this. So lovely meeting you and sharing those amazement tears :) Wonderful video and photos!
Find a way to force Emera to sell for government ownership at $2 billions. NS cannot afford it but Canadian tax payers can help deliver us from Emera.
That digital readout that looks like a bunch of 8s is to verify that the screen is not defective (for example, the number 8 doesn't appear to be a 6).
Sir Thank you for your Video
This looks like a good time!
I believe that Jimmy Page used the C6 tuning on Friends and Bron Yur Stomp. I never knew about the Hawaiian origin but it certainly made sense as you plucked down the strings. Thanks!
hello, do you have a table containing the qualitative interpretations of the values?
Yesterday there were 2 brown outs with the matter of a minute and today reading up around 3kwh, was running stable 6 to 8 kwh daily, but today 12kwh , The story, meter reading 08/02/2023 11:45am 3347 ,2 power brown outs around 3pm, Next meter reading 08/03/2023 8:30pm 3359 , usage ain't changed much, tho no compensation for extra 8 hours, keep meter reading book
Thank you
What if it says "no rad " instead of reg?
I would like to know the immediate rate at which the power is being used, not have to average it out myself over hours. The old analog meter had the spinning wheel that showed you this. How is it that a digital meter actually shows LESS detail?
I agree
I just got one of these from 1997. I traded a restored recording king Carson Robinson model-k from ~1939. Do you still have you polychrome? What stings do you like?
Yes I’ve had it 20 years as it was a 50th birthday present and I’m turning 70 very soon. I use acoustic phosphor bronze strings but I need to buy them in singles because I now have it tuned in C6/Am7.
Awesome! And cool 1926 Martin- wow
Tremendo asi, sabroso!!
Tremendisimo 👍🏻
Hi friend, I live in Florida, and I have TECO energy. I have the same exact meter installed on my how the only difference is that I have solar panels and I have more than those screens, Test -> SyncNet -> rHxxxx -> r3g ->. After this, I have 4 more reading displays. Where can I get some information on how to read this meter?
Could you ask your power utility?
Ignore this, ignore that, ignore that, read this, ignore that and ignoe this. How about telling us what those other readings *are*. THAT would be useful. What you showed us was listed in the FAQ for smart meters on NS power's website.
I’m sorry it was not helpful to you-it was to many others. The NS Power website must have been updated since I made the video.
What does the total kilowatt hour mean? Is that everything you’ve used since the meter was installed? Is that what you used last month or is it what you’re currently drawing? I don’t know what to do with that number. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for sharing this very short video of what the total lunar eclipse looks like.
You are very welcome
Dave - simple question - I bought my son a telescope. We took it out and every planet we looked at was just a shiny ball. What did we do wrong?
Hey I’m sorry I missed this! I’m guessing the telescope is not powerful enough to resolve planetary detail. Can you say more about the telescope specifications?
So lovely.
Very helpful video thank you!
heyy small world, but i wanted to know what the second number is, is peak power your highest draw? over what time range :)?
It’s an all-time peak power draw in kW. It never seems to reset. It is used in certain commercial rate accounts, not for residential (so far).
I tried to ask NS Power about that but they would not tell me. I think it is something like you say, in units of kW.
nice!! thanks
sweet, great job! thanks for this!
Useful but I like complete details too
no, it was dumber than just useful
Thank you for your helpful assessment
2 like,sub,best wishes;-)
Hi Dave: There's a super bright star in the south east sky right now (Jan 1, 6:37am) - what is that?
Venus
Super cool 👌it looks pretty nice in the sunset 🔭 i'm sure you are interested in Astronomy, if so here are some of my links....Celestron unboxing video ua-cam.com/video/LP-pvPTH2UQ/v-deo.html Mercury transit ua-cam.com/video/f-rRqodMCz0/v-deo.html planet Venus ua-cam.com/video/DS0KdNvVo1E/v-deo.html planet Jupiter ua-cam.com/video/u-StujJjU7s/v-deo.html Solar eclipse ua-cam.com/video/-Zn6ks8GAVE/v-deo.html
Great presentation! I love hearing all the stories associated with each scope. It's so awesome how the experience of witnessing particular events (eclipses, transits, occultations) is so connected with the instrument that was used to see it. Grateful for such experiences! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
nice , video! I am so sure that many of us smiled inwardly as the photos of the little tascos came up. They are little Scopes that are responsible for keeping us hooked as kids
You are right!
Congratulations David!. I have a friend out here in Belleville Ontario who also had an asteroid named after him recently. He's been a bit out of astronomy for the last couple of years but I will forward him this video. I'm sure trying to take a picture of your own asteroid would in Tyson back into his Observatory!
Congratulations David that’s an amazing well deserved Honour I will go searching for this too when it comes around 🇬🇧🔭🇨🇦
i would like to buy one from Mr phenix. HOw can i contact him? thank you

helpful video!
Thanks, I made it for a specific friend, so I did not expect it to be very popular.
It looks great. I really like your homemade trellis. Wandering Jew is what I know not by too. My daughter informed me that there are people who don’t like the name and there’s another name but I can’t remember what.
Transcantia zebrina. I don’t see what’s wrong with the common name, but folks can get touchy these days.
I have the exact same model of National lap steel....from 1956....and I have same problem re the original case....would you mind sending me the plans for your case? I love the way it fits the lap steel so well....
Hi Mike, thanks for writing. The builder (Mark) had no actual plans. He says “I made a rough layout on some cardboard using the guitar itself, figured out appropriate dimensions, and had a construction technique in my head. Some things, for example the hinge and latch mountings, were worked out on the fly. The inside was largely ad lib. It would be hard to reproduce, and if I had to make another one it would likely be slightly different.” I could send you some dimensions and photos if you like.
feels like I'm sitting around a fire with the lads, good listen!
Thank you, that’s about what we were doing, at home. Very casual.
