Miss Olena, I’d like to make longer paper rods to minimize the number of joins. I bought steel rods that are 1.2mm by 400mm (and can be cut shorter if necessary). What is the maximum length of paper you would use for rolling?

Хороший МК. Единственное у меня почему-то хромает качество изображения. Всё как-то размыто, даже пытаясь поставить высокое качество. Всё равно размыто.

Miss Olena, my weavers don’t have as much body as yours. They are floppy and tend to flatten instead of keeping the round shape. It may because I had to substitute packing paper for newsprint, or it may be that the weavers are too wet. Do you let the weavers become almost dry in the middle section?

Такой расчет хорош для новичков, так как при плетении расстояние между стойками в "овальной" части будет больше чем "прямоугольной" так как длина 1,8см в округлой части отмеряна по прямой и прибавляем толщину плетения в итоге расстояние между вертикальными строками останется 1,8см, а там где идет скругление расстояние между строками будет 2,2-2,3см.

There is a jump in the video at around 30:30 that is a little unclear. Are you inserting two new stakes for each one that was cut off, giving 48 new stakes?

My aunt and uncle were married in a hot air balloon, I think I'm going to make this my first project! I have to find out what their wedding colors were, and I've got to get started on paper straws. Thanks for sharing your beautiful work, wish me luck!

Just to clarify: After dying and drying the paper rolls, should they be varnished next, then the weavers moisturized and cured before weaving? What is the glue that you used to extend the paper rolls? Should it be clear glue, or can water-resistant wood glue (dries to a tan color) be used instead?

The rods have a light spot near the tips, which I assume is because of the waterproof glue used. When you join rods, do you slide that part into the other rod so the spot can’t be seen, or do you trim off that end?
