Three Years | A journey to get to the summit of Toubkal | Mountaineering Documentary
Three Years. This is what it took for me and freelance videographer @MarkHillhwtb to summit Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa.
Little did we know that a global pandemic, a few hospital stays, bad weather (and more...) would get in our way. Three Years is the inspiring story of what it took to climb Toubkal. It’s about what makes us go back to the mountains, again and again, the emotion we get when we reach the summit, the passion to do what we do.
It documents the journey we embarked on when we decided to take on Toubkal Three years ago.

Hey Adam, great video. Which tour operator did you use and which camera did you use? Quality is fantastic!
This does not work for any gloves that are truly, 100%, waterproof. Why? Because the moisture is unable to escape. What I'm looking for is a proprietary product that dries INSIDE the insulated fingers/thumb of waterproof gloves (such as Maxidry Zero 56-451). These gloves are excellent in the harshest of working conditions (like on an oil rig for example) but they are impossible to dry out internally between shifts. The only solution I have at the moment is to buy a dozen pairs or more and change them every few hours - for gloves like these perspiration is the main moisture enemy, not rain.
Nice video...just a couple of minor points so viewers don't get confused. It's Ott car park as in otter not O-T-T The mountain you pointed out at the start is Carn as in barn, not cairn as you referred to it a couple of times.
But my washing mashine rinses the clothes with the clean water after the main washing cycle, co it will rinse all the DWR out! How does it suppose to work?!
Nice vid Adam really enjoyed your hands on approach.
Thinking very strong about one of these. Same as you i have a van that i dont really want to cut a massive hole into. Im tempted to go for one.
Which bars did you go for?
Drop te Fm vid bro its been two years
dont take this tent out in anything stronger than 30 mph winds if you are going to take it out in heavy rain fabsil the fly first then seam seal the seams.
which one to choose: hubba hubba 2 or hubba hubba NX old model?
The Hubba Hubba is nice if it doesn't get damaged or the weather doesn't get bad. Even on the official store page for the tent people are complaining about not being able to get parts outside of USA/Canada and MSR's respond is just "Outside of USA/Canada it's up to the local distributor". So if something gets damaged your local distributor might just tell you "Buy a new tent".. As for the weather and overall durability - it's the perfect tent if there is no strong wind and/or rain. The fact that the non-European version has better poles does say a lot about MSR's attitude towards international clients.
Boy I hate climbing Binnian that way, all pain and views not great on the accent. Do it the other way around i.e the blue lough on the accent. The wee Binnian root from the silent valley is hard but well worth it.
hi someone has already try to put this tent in apidura bag ?
Is it easy to mount the tentbox so it opens towards the back of the van as apposed the side?
Its not entirely correct. This tent tent can be pitched outer first. This video slightly damages the reputation of this not exactly lower range tent...You can pitch the outer first and than the inner after that, no problem. Big advantage. Seems you're testing gear but have a less idea about camping / hiking. And the aluminium structure is fine. And it is for £ 450 at least. Gosh maaan...
Thanks for a great review. I have the idea of getting a Big Agnes Copper Spur 3, but haven't ruled out the Hubba Hubba yet. I can't understand why manufacturers don't give an option for a footprint that covers all the ground under the fully erected tent, so all your gear doesn't go straight on the ground! Happy camping! 🤗
First watch…. How did I miss your content. Really good. Thank you. Rob
Glad you put this out, just stumbled on it and great video. Do you by any chance have a .GPX of this route you did as would love to try it?
Mhmmmm plastic infused coffee! Lovely stuff.
Nice review, thanks.
Really enjoyed your video, Adam, very well made. You're very knowledgeable about the area. I'll watch others later today. I made a video up there myself in the month of May at dawn, my favourite time for Binnian, my favourite mountain. You brought back many memories. All the best on your project and aspirations! You'll do great.
Thank you! Been a while since I’ve been in the mountains, we’ve been busy building a house and a got my dream job as a firefighter. But I really want to get back to the project this year!
Great presentation ! Name of the song , please ! 😃
What if you don't have a radiator?
Then you’ll have wet gloves!
Throw them in the dryer
I Recomend also buying the footprint/groundsheet
The inner tent doubles as a mosquito/bug net tried and tested
Which month / period of the year was that?
This was in March ‘22
Hi, really cool video thanks. Is that a sea to summit seal it bowl that you put the rice in please?
Yes mate 👍 great job so it is
Go for your dreams young man !
Thanks for sharing buddy I lived on a hill farm in the mountains of mourn with my x wife years ago a local lassie I used to climb a lot all the best from me in England 😊
Crazy how UA-cam lets good content go unwatched
Simple just works!
Lovely gravel path there now, no muck 😊 great video
Maybe a stupid question but does it not come supplied with a footprint sheet ?
😅
Insane scenery. Wowser.
Fantastic video. You gave fine justice to this mountain. I am a pensioner and have done a huge amount of hill walking in the past, including all the Munro peaks of Scotland. I lived in Ireland for 3 years, and ascended Errigal on two occasions on fine days. Not particularly challenging, but so what. A truly memorable walk with a superb view. On a side note I once did a hill walk on the other side of the glen (to the south), the area around the poisoned glen. It was about the toughest terrain underfoot I have ever encountered.
Is there a possibility to protect the ineer with the outer while setting up during bad wether? Is it possible without the footprint?
Only seeing this now mate. That was superb. Absolutely class
Nice video - what month is this? If you jo in the beginning of March, will there be snow on the way up?
This was in March. Hard to tell, best looking on mountain-forecast.com
Just wondering how hard it is hiking with crampons? im reading mixed opinions on whether you need experience or not.. im heading to marrakech in november and would love to do this hike, but i have 0 experience with crampons
Not impossible but it would make the experience a lot more fun if you weren’t worrying about crampons for the first time too.
@@Adamshandadventures thank you. I do have hiking experience,it's just the crampons I'm not experienced with.
It's a bit awkward on a high van putting it away. I pop my poles in from the inside which works well
Good tip. Standing on the back wheels helps too!
I love this tent, never slept in only the inner tent, too afraid of other people killing me. Strange thoughts.
Lol after showing the correct way to attach the middle pole, at 3.45 it shows it the wrong way 🤷
Not sure what’s crazier, that anyone would consider sleeping in this tent without the fly sheet in Ireland at any time of year or that anyone would consider this a three man tent. This tent barely fits two people. It’s essentially a one man tent. Inability to pitch the inner and fly sheet together is a major drawback, as is the paper thin ground sheet. The extra footprint is an absolute necessity.
Love the videos Adam 👌
Great video Adam. Just bought this tent and it’s been a lifetime since I’ve spent the night under the stars. I was struggling with the outer skin but luckily I discovered your video. Thank you.
Not sure if it was the same problem but I've struggling a few times getting the outer on. Didn't realise until this video that the corners are colour coded 😂
You set it up wrong according to yourself!!!😅
What is the maximum hight for the van to accommodate tentbox?
You done Errigal proud with this video, I loved every bit of it 👍🏻🟩🟧
Thank you 🙏 haven’t been out much lately with a new job, but hopefully back at it soon.
Epic! Have you been enjoying some TentBoxing adventures? ⛺
Easter.. first camp of the year 🤞🤞 for good weather 😂
