Students should also consider mechatronics engineering. It combines the three fields of software, electrical and mechanical engineering. Once graduated, you can get a job in any of those fields allowing you to have a wide array of paths to choose from. I myself am in automation and manufacturing, some of my friends are in software while others went the mechanical design route.

They are fixing it tho, im in grade 9 and they started(this year) this thing called GEC(General Education Certificate) where basically grade 9s do this course and they get a certificate that allows them to go to Tvet collages and in this GEC thing, the subject they value the most is EMS, which consists of economics, business studies and accounting which will basically teach people how to become entrepreneurs in the near future, so this problem HAS been here but it is being eliminated as we speak

If you are uneducated you can be controled therefor ANC made pass rate 30 % chew on that

I disagree, when women build with a men, most men leave them for the woman of their dreams once they can afford her. Women look for financial security because once she bares you children and you leave her she and the kids are thrown into poverty. What woman wants her and her kids to struggle. Most foreign woman are TOLD by their countryman NOT to date South African men because they will end up single mothers like SA women!

I have a masters degree 😢 I have not been able to get a job in my field, so decided to take a one week course in healthe care and now earn more than a GM at a company working abroad. Most people look down on the job I do but my bank account is looking down at theirs.

at some point we have to acknowledge that our government (ANC) is an accomplice to this crime against humanity. 🥺🥺This really hurts me… I did some Bachelor of Education [, failed chemistry and got academically excluded] at UJ in 2020😢 In a module called Education Studies, I learnt that in short, the education system was meant to create the “ideal slaves”; slaves who won’t be question their “boss’s” authority, slaves who won’t mind wearing uniform to work; slaves who will work to get paid just enough to last them for a little while and then come back to work for more while the employer makes money exponentially with “the slaves”😭 I matriculated in 2018 with pretty good marks but here I am, still doing first year at CPUT… But you know what?🫤 From this course I’m doing; I’ll go and teach what I consider important to my people back at home👨🏽‍🦯

I think the best way is to balance . Get the matric and have a good standing. This way you will have an advantage to be flexible. Unlike just leaving school at grade 9 to go to tvet. Whether grade 9 or matric,you can still go to tvet. . I find it unwise to just focus on grade 9 and tvet whereas you can focus on matric and a wide range of possibilities. . What i got from you is how important mentality is. If we adopt a good mentality,we will be able to navigate our lives throughout the system.

This issue has bothered me ever since I was in school.....whereby I had to either shape in or ship out....coming from a previously disadvantaged background...I saw it not wise to ship out as I'd minimize my already scarce opportunities by disqualifying myself from the basic education system possible opportunities.....to sum it up....I'd say to navigate the system even though you know what you want...because no education is a waste.

I think we as South Africa are more concerned about Intergration with the colonizers instead of actually being concerned about fixing the actual mess they put us in. It's pretty pathetic how they are quick to tell us to forgive and move on when instead we should be going through the redress of every step of the "System Oppression" that was and still is imposed on us. You don't find it weird that a guy from higher education (basically the people who build that system) turns around and says it is messed up? Secondly it's not a matter of skill but a matter of licensing and rights that allows them to do that. I actually goes much deeper than this but you can research it and you'll see it get's really dark. It doesn't make sense to insult your department that you are part of unless he was not really from higher education. Other countries don't dictate our curriculum so if it is a mess would they not be blame

Not even good knowledge. All school all over the world are the same. School was created to produce obedient employees who will work for the system and never leave but will serve the system until death. They will have life buying nice cars and houses, but they will never be wealthy.

As far as im aware as a matriculant with mechanical technology i already have my N3. You got a point ill admit. The government is so focused on making us look good for their benefit that we lack substance when it comes to the education. The point i tend to disagree with most south africans on though is the cause of this. Everyone seems to blame other countries for our issues but i dont think they are the cause of them. Europe obviously tends to be blamed quite a lot especially. I dont think they are to blame though. Our government is. I mean for example when loadshedding first started i heard stories of zuma sharing our electricity with other african countries to try make his friends happy. Thats not the fault of those countries for taking advantage of the situation. It was the fault of the ANC for giving it away in the first place. Same thing with whatever country people want to blame. Instead of building mansions in nkandla why dont they instead build a factory there? That way the village gets a source of income which they can use to build their living space organically (or spend it on booze. thats what happened where i lived). But there are so many situations like this. "oh but other countries control the government and thats why this happens" then get rid of the government. The amount of people i hear complain about ANC and then vote for them anyways is depressing. Its been thirty years and you guys are worse off than you were. Get them out. This used to be a first world country. It used to compete with america. Whats happened since then that we are so far away now? Think about it. People are scared to blame the country cause then it looks bad on us but well never change if we dont. "Its always everyone else" they dont care about you. They wont help you fix it. Degree, Masters, and Honours have been praised more (no matter what you study) and trades/artisans have been frowned upon, especially in our black communities. Everyone strives for a uni degree in heavily saturated, unimportant fields that will have no benefit towards our country, because they will be praised for getting the highest form of education possible in that field. As someone from South Africa looking at doing things abroad, we are kinda doomed. Our educational system is flawed.

I completely agree with you brother. Last year when i was in Grade 9, I wanted to go to a TVET college to pursue a career in engineering. My Mathematics and Science was on point and I was looking to make this dream come true but my mother disagreed and said that I should stay in school until matric. This stigma of Tvet colleges isnt going anywhere and we need to raise this awareness so I completely support your insight on this.

I think what you are saying has some truth to it, some** in some of the things you’re saying you are completely wrong it seems you are speaking from one point of view which I understand. I went to a bad school, bottom of the barrel. Managed to get to a good university, got a job at a good company before i even graduated which pays significantly higher than the national average i had 0 experience but i focused on my studies and did well proving im competent. The problem is young people spend their time doing drugs and partying harming their future and get bad results in school then proceed to flood industries with low entry barrier like teaching, HR, and some of the skills you mentioned thats why we have graduates with no jobs you can’t in a right mind go do a course thats already flooded and has high unemployment rate and come back to complain about it. Some things need the maths and physics we learn at school and some things don’t. Maths and physics are hard if we let people get into the Tvets so easily too those industries will grt flooded too and less people will be willing to do the hard things we need as a country. Not sure if I made my point im walking in th rain I might’ve missed a few things
