The black nose she has really looks like it's supposed to be the shadow under the bottom of the nose, and it usually points up, not down, so I think it should be drawn under the tip of your nose, not on the tip. Otherwise, good job.

This movie rules! Obviously he’s an A hole and although what you say is correct the movie is still awesome. I also like welcome to the dollhouse too ,but that doesn’t mean I endorse the lead A-hole in the movie…. Addicted to Mary Jane? Haha I can’t take you seriously after saying that.

She had been writing letters and is a fully grown adult so saying Simon is into kids is weird. He is pretty clear about what he wants and she wants it as well; He does stand up for her and sees her for who she is. We all have bad relationships but this isn't one. He enjoys the same things she does and if anything he's less messed up at the start and she had a dead cat she's been watching rot so maybe she isn't so innocent. this movie isn't about you and some movies arent even for you. not every character has to be perfect or even good, we can have media with "bad" people in it

So, like, I do see where you're coming from, and you're totally entitled not to like the movie. But you seem to very much be projecting your own experiences and overlooking other points of the movie. For background, I am also autistic, I'm a punk, and I was in a deeply physically and emotionally abusive relationship. - Simon is also neurodivergent. This should be clear. Although Patty's disability isn't explicitly stated, she's clearly meant to be on the ASD, and so is he. This is why he is sensitive about the r slur. This is why he is weird about eye contact. This is why he gets riled up easily. This is why he is submissive around his parents who interpret things like avoidance of eye contact as admission of guilt/evidence of drug use. There is clear evidence in the film that he was abused by his family because of his neurodivergence. Your review completely avoids this. - This is a punk love story. Patty is still a punk. You seem to not understand this either. She's a *sheltered* punk, but she still agrees with and follows punk ideals. This isn't her mirroring him. This is him giving her space and encouragement to stand up for herself and be herself. She doesn't out him to the cops because she knows enough about being a punk and the subculture and values to say ACAB, basically. Why would she trust the pigs? Translating this directly from fiction to real life, yes, I can see the parallels between this and a real-life toxic relationship, but that's not what it is in the movie. He is not manipulating her. She is not mirroring him. - You cannot groom a 20 year old woman. By saying that she's being groomed, you are, ironically, infantalizing her based on her neurodivergence. She's a grown woman. She has/had a job. We have no reason to assume that whatever her neurodivergence is makes her more inherently childlike beyond her surface-level behaviors. Patty and Simon are about the same age. They went to community college together 2 years prior to the events of the movie. - Yeah obviously drugs are bad for underraged people. It's still just a movie. It's fiction. Kevin had severe anxiety that manifested in him lashing out, and eventually into physical violence. Simon gave him weed to chill him out, and supervised him the whole time. I wouldn't approve of this in real life. But this is a fictional movie that, and I want to remind you, is supposed to be a punk movie. This is not for teenagers. This is for adults. Adults should know better than be like "well, if this fictional movie character gave weed to a teenager, I should also give weed to a teenager". - I'm not sure what's wrong with him wanting to fuck someone's mom. Like, in an ethical way, you shouldn't fuck someone's wife, or someone's mom if you're pursuing them, but like. These were strangers to him? Idk. You also missed the part where he starts pouring gasoline on the house after the dad was yelling racial slurs, so he was already intending to do something rash. - I understand why you think the scene where Patty is told to look provocative is toxic. I'm surprised you didn't bring up the fact he told her to flash them first, actually. But regardless, the point was that the jocks were sexualizing her already. It was a lure. She did it, he knocked them out, she was unharmed. In real life this could be an uncomfortable scenario that could result in real harm. This is a movie. This was a plan to embarass and beat up some ableists, conducted by two autistic people, one of which that was just beaten into hamburger by them. For me, this movie was liberating. I related a lot to Simon -- a punk autistic full of fear and rage, who loves music, whose sense of justice leads them into bad situations, and who comes from a home that abused them based on autistic symptoms and behaviors -- and while I could liken those same traits to the people who caused me the most harm in my romantic life, it feels good to have a Good character reclaim those same traits and do Good with them (burning a racist's house down, beating up ableists, protecting other people like them from harm, standing up for those who struggle to do it themselves). I don't romanticize this movie because, ohhh Simon is so toxic and scary and hot, I'm actually a raging lesbian, and I love my hot autistic lesbian punk girlfriend who I can relate to being like Patty. I love this movie because it's a great piece of relatable fiction. No, it's not a good handbook for real life. Movies don't have to be. And again, you don't have to like this movie. But if you're going to tear it down, at least get the facts right about it.

As someone who is ND and who dated a 'Simon'... I agree with you. This movie is great and I love it and I totally get why people think Simon is attractive (I honestly do, too) but irl, these people are not good. My Simon was angry and violent and didn't care who he hurt. He didn't tone it down because I was 'naive and soft'. You don't want a Simon in real life.

With the election going way it’s going we are hoping for a miracle I might even lose my ssi in the next year … I’m glad I made this video so I can rewatch when I’m severely struggling cause I can’t handle normal jobs …. Keep your head held high and hope for the best
