Step Through History
United Kingdom
Приєднався 21 тра 2020
Travel back in time for stories from the iron age to the high middle ages (I lose interest when gunpowder becomes too prevalent) that will both entertain and educate. I love to write about those more hidden people and places behind the major events we have probably heard plenty about.
I am a history nerd and lover of HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) who researches, writes, records and edits all the content on this channel. I have plenty of stories to cover so please be patient, and check back for more podcasts, and in time, I will reveal the top secret super exciting second part of my plan :)

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 - The Real Kuttenberg #kcd2 #kcd
This is the final part of my quest to walk the Kingdom Come Deliverance map. Well technically this is KCD2 but I wasn't travelling half way across Europe and not have a sneaky peek of what is to come and what a surprise I got!
Kutna Hora is absolutely beautiful, so beautiful in fact that this may not be the end of my quest after all.

Amazing. I chased my grandfathers surname to william l de percy. Then rollo..so amazing. Thank you. From east Kentucky.
Most knowledgeable videos ive seen.. recently discovered my many great grandfather was rollo..do you have much ancestral information on this male lineage? Very well done. Thank you.
You there stop!
The bandits around Sasau are the real deal
Can't believe you don't have more subs! But you have a new one from me!😊
Thank you so much ☺️
I just stole a key after I changed to get in
This version of Henry is very low level bless him 🤣
@@stepthroughhistoryhehe😂
I love kcd I’m on my 4th play through this is beautiful
I'm hoping the second game has the same replay ability
Kuttenberg is just German name, Kutná Hora is Czech name 😉
That makes sense. I can't remember if it was ever referred to as anything else other than 'Kuttenberg' in game?
When you were looking at the wall (from 19:10) the sounds in the background were exactly what I imagine the soundscape of KCD2 will be. Workers shouting at each other, dogs barking, no modern sounds.
I really felt the same on my journey to Talmberg too. They captured the place well, can't tell between the birds on the game and from my camera. Can't wait to hear the bustling streets of kuttenberg
Wow I’d love to visit
Go for it 😁
great series, I watched Kuttenberg first and then this. The problem with Rattay is that it is far from "civilisation", so it is hard to "pump" money in there and tourism is unfortunately not that good. But some Czech people are going there - I would say in many cases even without knowing about KCD - there is beautiful nature around as you probably know :D, just not spending money there ...
22:44 actually the monastery is across street. There is a Cathedral - which was rebuilt after Hussites destroyed it and next to it is the monastery - now its tobacco factory :(
And a few years after the monastery was built (around 1140), there was church built in my village (1165), which will unfortunately be outside map. It is called church of st.James the Greater. But maybe it will be visible from some place
Nice journey. Can't wait to live in Bohemia again!
I'll be going for a week in September, want to complete the game, then explore the area!.
Fantastic! You won't be disappointed, it was stunning! Enjoy
Kingdom come Is ♥️🙏♥️
So next stop Trosky castle and Bohemian paradise? One day... 😉
Soon seems too far away 😏 I may wait for the warmer weather at least...
Kutná hora is suitable for tourists who want to experience an authentic medieval town without tourist attractions and crowds. It is a completely different experience than Prague, in Kutná Hora there are mostly only local people and there is almost no tourist traffic and attractions that were created for tourists.
I think that is one of the (many) reasons I loved it. It is a dilemma though (speaking as someone who lives in a place with a similar issue). I am caught between wanting to share the history and the beauty with more people but also not wanting it to be spoilt by being a tourist trap nightmare.
Thank you for the series -- very interesting to see these locations in real life (albeit on video for me). An amazing trip I'm sure!
Really glad you enjoyed the videos, thank you ☺️
Aren't you a bit gorgeous 😍 can't wait to play kcd2 on my new rtx 5090.
It can't come soon enough now
This channel is underrated as a KCD 1
Hell yeah!
Tobi's older brother? :)
Haha great call, though he looks after his facial topiary better than I
Now you're just making me want to play CK2 even more :P February couldn't come any sooner!
Absolutely, I've been obsessed with manor lords recently but that isn't cutting it now we're that close to the date 🤣
@@stepthroughhistory Same here! Or I was recently, now I've decided to wait for a second round of Manor Lords when the game is released :) Been curious to try the new maps though!
The new maps are fun, freshens it up a little bit. I'm currently trying to alter my gameplay style so I can survive the crushing tax regime 🤣
Nice work! :)
Thank you. Just seen you are a man on the inside so I can't wait to watch your videos this weekend 😁
@@stepthroughhistory yes, Kuttenberger born and raised :) One day hopefully part of ossuary forever... I have my eye on that chandelier. That wolud be cool, with a little candle on a top of my head :D
You should try to drink Kofola it is Czech super lovely drink better then Coca cola
I will look out for that next time, and next time might be very soon 😁
Kofola tastes good to people who don't like Coca-Cola. Those who like Coca-Cola often do not like Kofola. The taste has almost nothing to do with Coca-Cola, it has a taste of herbs and fruits, and it is much less sweet.
Are you planning on exploring some of the sites in kcd2 for us? :)
Very close to booking my flights already 😁
Oh Blue blooded. Cool
Wow
😊
Eyup cuz 😊
Now then 😁
Finally got round to watching this! Bloody brilliant G-man
You are a gent. Glad you enjoyed it😁 I think the digital to real world transitions get better each episode which is something I found particularly satisfying and phwoarsome!
I never realized 😮
HUZZAH! I'm not the only one 😁
What a holiday 😂
And to think I nearly went to sit on a med beach for a week. Pah!
Do you imagine when entering the Czech Republic, declaring reason of visit: KCD 😄 it would look fun in touristic statistics. Great video by the way! I hope I can visit these places myself one day
It's a great adventure, I hope you do ☺️
Henry could run around in full armor and not be effected by the heat for two reasons: a) KCD didn't factor temperature into the game beyond Henry's mother mentioning that 'today's a scorcher'; b) temperatures were lower in the 15th century. Part of that is due to the unusually high temperatures we are experiencing today, part from the mini-Ice Age they were having that ultimately wiped out the Norse Greenland colonies (the colonists seem to have starved to death because the local church wouldn't open their larders).
This is a wonderful series. Kudos to the man who made it.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it 😁
This video is incredible, it truly brings the beauty of Sassau from Kingdom Come. I was in the Czech Republic two months ago, and seeing places like these in real life gave me such a deeper appreciation for the country’s history and charm. I had an amazing time exploring the landscapes, towns, and hidden gems. This video really takes me back, thank you for sharing! CHEERS 🍻🫡⚔️🛡
So glad you enjoyed it and great to hear from a fellow kcd adventurer
The sign loosely translates to: Entry forbidden !!! Danger of Death.
So the notorious reputation of Vranik continues through the ages 🤣
Hello from France. Thank you for the visit of The Real Sasau. I too am looking forward to KCD2 😉. Only 3 more weeks to wait👌.
Thank you from Yorkshire, so glad you enjoyed the video. I can't wait for kcd2, I've avoided all the promotional material. I want to be as clueless as I was for the first game 🤣
Dogs spotted 👣
Now then Jambridge, Didn't have you down for a mockney!
Nice shirt and nice giggle
That's all well and good but when is Percussion Concussion getting the band back together?
@stepthroughhistory soon
Don't worry, we believe you😂
...join my top tier patreon to find out what really happened in Uzhitz 🤣
Flip flops are definitely not the best footwear on this kind of trip
Was I prepared? no. Would I plan better next time? Also no. Do I have any regrets? Definitely not 🤣
WHAT HAPPENED IN UZHITZ...
It has something to do with a honeycomb and a jackass...
@@stepthroughhistory you didn't forget Theresa did you...
You're telling me you cant just eat from any pot in the street anymore?
You can, but you can expect a mucky look or a punch in the face 🤣
@@stepthroughhistory really loving this series, I just completed the stone quest at the monastery tonight so it's nice seeing how it is today! Now trying to find the parish priest to fix up the wounded refugees at Sassau
8:17 i feel no guilt, i feel hungry 😅
@stepthroughhistory great video man thanks, great history :)
Really glad you enjoyed it 😁 there is still more to come ..
The markings on the trees walls signs etc. are official trails. They can be in 4 different colors Red, Green, Blue, Yellow. Each of this color means something. Red is for long or summit trail Blue means, that trail is in some way significant. Green is short local trail. Yellow is for shortcut, or interconnecting trail.
Every time someone responds to this question I learn another little nugget. I love the coding system. I am off back so i will learn beforehand
@@stepthroughhistory You can find this tourist mark system everywhere where Czechoslovakia was located in the past, even in Carpathean Ukraine where club of Czech tourists still keeps 100 years old marks and create new ones.
@@Pidalin and in Armenia, because Czechs helped there with developing tourism
@ and Armenian dentists now save us from having no teeth 😀
How long did it take for you to walk the whole trip? How many days did it take you? P.s. love the channel, keep up the good work
Great question and I will be sure to include it on the live stream. Cheers, glad you are enjoying my other content too ☺️
Those tourist marks are all over the country there are small woods near my house, impossible to get lost in but they still have these markings along the main trail.
Amazing, Love the idea.
I'm so glad that youtube recommended me this video. Thank you for sharing the experience. I'll definitely watch the rest of your journey. Jesus Christ be praised!
Thank you so much. I hope you enjoy....and it ain't over yet, not by a long way 😁
