The Legion Flats Non Stop Action Fishing With Live Shrimp!!
On today's episode I waded the Legion Flats which is located on the Eastside of Gandy bridge. This area holds Trout, Snook, Redfish, Cobia, Sheepshead honestly all the Inshore species frequent this flat at some point throughout the year. We primarily used live shrimp today out in the flat and up against the seawall. Tackle check I used 15 lb test power pro braid, 20 lb fluorocarbon leader, 1/0 j hook and 1/8 oz split shot. If you're able to wade, kayak or boat this area will not disappoint. I hope you enjoy the video tight lines!!

on today's episode it was more of a prospecting trip I fish these areas quite often but I only fish them in the fall and winter months because the fish seem to stack up and as of right now they are there but not as great of numbers as I would like to see. This was an unexpected wading adventure that produced lots of Sheepshead and also open my eyes to an area I've over looked for years. This particular area was absolutely covered with Black Drum BIG ones at that. I used fiddler crabs for bait free lined for most of the day.

I used to live near blind pass in the 70’s. Fort de desoto was ALOT less built up back then. I use to wade ( up to my chest) east of boat ramp. There used to be a pull out on that side of bridge. Gone now. 40 lb snook on 12lb test. I had to swim because I almost ran out of line. Landed it though.
The worst day of fishing is better than the best day of working.

@@Hookemjay they say its risky. I think if you park on the opposite side of the jail somewhere and walk over you should be good. Obviously if you park at the sheriffs office they could try to mess with/trespass you
It’s technically not legal to fish here, unfortunately because SWFWMD sucks. Back in the day we used to get it after it out here like 10-15 years ago. You might be fine, you might get a massive ticket, maybe arrested . Whatever they feel like.

Hi CJ new subscriber here. Where’d you get the crabs please? What time of the day was it?
I normally get my live bait from Gandy Bait and tackle if they don't have any 4th St bait and tackle is my back up. I think on that day I started fishing around 830am but to be honest in that area it doesn't matter the time of day just make sure you have moving water.

If you walk the left side mangrove edge it's about 3 ft at high tide

yeah I see lots of guys fishing that Pier and the one thing you cannot do is move the jig too fast if you're too far off the bottom you won't get a bite I can be fishing right next to you moving in nice and slow on the bottom and get hit back to back and if you're bringing it too far off the bottom the trour won't come up and get it so you have to slow it down.
