Could be multiple reasons: a) Clearinghouse or Intermediary Issues Reason: Your system might be transmitting the claim to a clearinghouse, but it is stuck in processing or rejected before reaching the payer. Fix: Check your clearinghouse reports (acknowledgments, rejections, or acceptance reports like 999, 277CA, or 835). Contact your clearinghouse to verify claim status and ensure proper transmission. 2) Incorrect Payer ID or Routing Issue Reason: The claim might be sent to the wrong Payer ID or an outdated routing system. Fix: Verify the Payer ID in your system against the payer's official ID. Confirm with the payer if they have updated their electronic claim submission details. 3) Claim Rejections (EDI Level or Payer-Specific) Reason: If there is a formatting or data issue (e.g., incorrect patient demographics, insurance details, missing required fields), the claim might be rejected before reaching the payer’s adjudication system. Fix: Check EDI 277CA (claim acknowledgment) or 999 reports to see if the claim was rejected. Review your 837 claim file for errors and resubmit if needed. 4) System Confirmation Mismatch Reason: Your system might be marking the claim as "sent" based on internal logs, but no actual transmission occurred. Fix: Cross-check your EDI transaction logs to confirm that the claim file was successfully sent. Look for confirmation from the payer’s EDI department. 5) Payer Processing Delays Reason: Some payers may have internal delays before processing claims. Fix: Ask the payer if there is a processing delay and if they can manually check for the claim. 6) Firewall or Network Issues Reason: If your system uses direct EDI submission, a firewall or network issue could be blocking the claim from being transmitted. Typically the data to create the ASN is gathered at the Pick/Pack if using automation. If the office or someone at a company creates the ASN then usually done when the shipping has occurred or will be occurring. Big thing to remember most EDI Trading Partners need the ASN 24 to 48 Hours before the product reaches the shipping destination. Scanning systems at tied to the WMS which in turn connect to the TMS for scheduling shipping or pickup. That Connection could be through API or traditional EDI exchange of data. It depends how many companies are involved. Think of it this way alot of Trading Partners never want you to back order or short ship a Purchase Order. This is why they are not big fans of multiple ASNs for a particular Purchase order. Also some Trading Partner systems are old and can't receive multiple ASNs to the same Purchase Order. There are other reasons it really comes to your Trading Partner's requirements. Hope that helps you out.

Yes EDI Developer is not really coding. It is typically setting up a platform like Boomi to handle the EDI processing. You can learn Boomi for free using their Certification.

Building it out can be alot more expensive in not only money but time. Also if the build is not setup in a flexible way to add on new document types. Too many build their solution just for what is needed now and not for what might be needed. Too many build just for ANSI X12 than need XML or JSON as an example. I do agree the long term cost can be a money saver and time saver.

@EDISupportLLC yeah, the time it takes is obviously dependent on the skillset of the team. Higher skill means higher cost. Your point about other doc types is on point. EDI is about file transfer/translation and enrichment of ANY type... example IDocs, csv etc... modular design will be imperative for this to work.

Yes AS4 is similar to AS2. It is truly for XML transmissions based in the ebMS . It is definitely not something we run across in the North America market very often.

A Shipper can also be a Carrier. It all depends on who has the Transportation vehicles to deliver the Shipments. Sometimes a Shipper will also have their own trucks

You have to look at all involved. Change Healthcare is apart United Healthcare and Change has exclusive contracts with Insurance providers. There is alot of money involved in these exclusive contracts which also effect alot of pharmacies and Healthcare facilities. It is crazy how they all effect each other. Why would the hackers think to attack Change Healthcare? EDI processing is big but someone needs to be in the know to understand what an attack on Change would truly be able to do. That's why there is a second attack of Change already being reported.

If Sps management changed the mentality it would be great for everyone. I don't wish any companies pain. Sorry you are having to deal with issues
