My Go To Short Barrel Rifle Setup - SBR
Received a couple requests for a parts breakdown of my go to SBR. This is my main setup that tends to accompany me camping, range trips and for use in classes. Video gives in depth breakdown from dents to stock. Couple details I think I left out were SOLGW Gas block and Tube.

Eotech EXP3-0 ~ Still my go to after 3 years?

Follow up on thoughts of the Eotech EXPS3-0 after three years of use. Great optic for day or night use. Yes it is a little heavier then some of the optics out there and battery life not a high as many. It makes up for it's weight with 20 day times settings/10 night settings and minimal to no parallax shift. Uses a common CR123 battery which many lights and lasers additionally use. The window si...

Geissele URG-I Build update - Surefire RC2 Enters the Chat

Next piece in the Geissele URG-I buildout the Surefire RC2. Why did I pick the RC2 over RC3. Lower flash signature with no restrictions on muzzle devices. Lower IR signature. RC2 maybe old tech but it is the most heavily tested and battle proven suppressor on the market. Two different camps out there with low back pressure and standard suppressor. I prefer the decibel reduction over the gas red...

    Do you consider Sons of Liberty uppers good? Or are they just ballistic Advantage barrels

    • @itsmillartime6916
      @itsmillartime6916 День тому

      So the Upper receivers and Handguards are both made by Zev is my understanding. So solid. The barrels however I’ve heard they use Ballistic Advantage and possibly Rosco as well. I own two SOLGW 11.5” barrels (one with front sight and one without) both of which suppressor alignment works but isn’t as centered as I’d like. Own multiple of their BCGs and while I have had issues with one they didn’t hold up to their lifetime warranty (gas rings that wore out very early) they are still great BCGs. However Brownells and others sell same Microbest carrier with no logo for less. So if you’re looking at their completes there are areas I feel they could improve but I’d still run one. If you are pairing with a SOLGW lower you’ll find the fit is normally pretty good.

      Got your IG message. Send on over build pics. I’ve been running an UnbrandedAR AR9 for years and love it. Have their lower parts kits in a few builds and my big complaint would be detents and pins feel super gritty. Recently got a complete factory built AR15 lower from them which looks great but pins/detents are a bit rough. Easy $10 fix for new springs and detents but I’m planning to just run as is for now. My recent go to kit is the SOLGW Semi complete and I snag a Geissele trigger. SOLGW has best feeling takedown and pivot pins imo.

      I did unbranded and it didn’t work out when I swapped from a 5.56 upper to 300blk. The BCG (unbranded) wouldn’t load subs into the chamber completely (supers went fine 🤷🏻‍♂️) so I swapped it out for a SOLGW BCG and no issues since. Everything was lubed fine. I’m only buying SOLGW from here on out.

Highly recommend their mags. Some of the best GI mags I’ve seen. Did you try their BCG on any other uppers? Curious if that was isolated to that upper? Did you try different kinds of subs or one particular brand?

      Recharging is going to vary depending on humidity for your area. I’m in a pretty humid area and probably should be recharging on a monthly basis. Horrible with consistency if recharging but do it as often as I can. I also use a small container of damprid as a second layer of moisture collection. Did just recharge the Dehumidier actually last week. Was roughly 72 hours before I’d call it clearly dried out (Purple).

    • @itsmillartime6916
      @itsmillartime6916 9 днів тому

      Is this question in regards to RUM mount in particular or Ruggeds mounting system? Haven’t have any issues with my Mirco30 or Razor 7.62 mounts but those cans are not hub compatible. Schedule has been insane so haven’t been able to get out with the Anechoic w/RUM mount. The function of the RUM is same as the mounts fixed to my other two cans I’ve been running for years so don’t foresee any issues. I’ve mounted the Anechoic w/RUM across 2-3 setups and it locks on snug latching over rear of muzzle device so no way it’s going anywhere.

    • @myelling7773
      @myelling7773 9 днів тому

      @@itsmillartime6916 The mounting system. Some have said their silencers start to unscrew themselves off. "My razor keeps backing off on multiple mounts. Not a fan of rugged at all. I even use a strap wrench to wrench the fucker down super tight." "My only issue with rugged mount is that if you don't lock it all the way, it can shoot loose the front taper and have a little play." But those were from 2 years ago and might have been user error. I was thinking of switching all of my muzzle devices and silencer hubs to RUM just to make things easier on me.

    @BigBear-- 11 днів тому

    I'd recommend you try out the Armageddon Tactical GMS-15 EVO charging handle, if you're running suppressed. They seem to currently have the best (or one of the best) designs for gas mitigation at the rear. The charging handle is designed to essentially envelope the rear completely, rather than just a lip, to redirect the gas. It also had a hard silicone seal underneath, along with additional gas channels on the bottom. All vent the gas forward, away from the shooter. Not up, like some of the other designs. They're often sold out, but if you can get your hands on one, give 'em a shot.

  • @BigBear--
    @BigBear-- 11 днів тому

    My issue with the Geissele CHs are that except for the largest size Super Charging Handle, all the others (Airborne and Government), the rake angle on the handles is too neutral to start, so thag when you pull back on them you end up with a negative angle (or larger than 90°, if that helps explain it). So that, combined with the fact that both the Airborne and Government have shorter levers, leads to potential slipping off, when trying to work them. Especially if trying to work just one side at a time. The BCM'S and others, the rake angle of the levers usually will max out at at least 90° when being pulled back, so there's less potential for slipping off. Generally less of a problem if you're always clawing/hooking both sides to charge at the same time, but an issue for one sided charging. Has anyone else had an issue, or noticed this?

      The steiner works no problem with the EXPS 3-0 I have the railscales leaf on my steiner 9007, makes for a nice lower 1/3 cowitness.

      No issues. Holo sits above with the EXPS3-0 since lower 1/3 cowitness. Actually just ordered another EXPS3-0 for this URG-I build out too.

    I need some help deciding on a weapon light for my Daniel Defense DDV7. The primary build purpose is home defense, with a focus on close-to-medium range. For optics, I’ve installed standard front and rear iron sights, along with a Primary Arms SLX 1X MicroPrism Scope (Green Illuminated ACSS Cyclops Reticle Gen II). On the rail, I’ve added an Indexer M-Lok and an Offset Scout Mount M-Lok for a weapon light, but I haven’t settled on a specific light yet. I’m considering an Arisaka light kit or light body, but there are so many options that I’m finding it a bit overwhelming to choose the best one, I’ve also looked at surefire and cloud defense again I feel that they both have their pros and cons and also different price points. Some of the setups I’ve looked at are quite expensive, so I’m wondering: 1. Is Arisaka worth the price? 2. Is there a comprehensive guide online that explains the different Arisaka light options, including the various caps and configurations, to help narrow down my choice? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

      For your use I think the Arisaka is a great option. The 18650 body coming in at only $50 is great starting point build out a solid light. I use a Modlite OKW head which has good throw to reach out to 100 yards or so. For your use you may want to check out Malkov light heads to find something that accommodates closer to Medium range. But also unclear what your medium range is? I spend fair amount of time in woods and fields so being able to light up 100+ yards is handy and light also works in CQB setting. In close quarters though that kind of out put can also splash back a bit. I dragged heels for years before jumping into the weapon mounted light setups so 100% understand your hesitation. My first was a Cloud OWL and from their I jumped into the Cloud Rein series. Reason for doing a Modlite/Arisaka build out for this setup is try something different and because of recently quality concerns I've seen with Cloud. Additionally after getting a Modlite handheld awhile back I now have a collection of heads to support the buildout and different head options for different needs. As far as a guide I have unfortunately not seen one myself. My buildout was based off feedback from buddies I podcast with and others I shoot with. Tailcap if you want a backup switch the Surefire DS00 is the way to go. If you don't care for backup switch or consistent on I'd get the standard Surefire cap. The Arisaka body is cheaper then the Modlite body so a little bit of savings to be had there and sits closer as well. From there it is finding mount to accommodate mounting to your handguard and light head that fits your needs. With Black Friday saves coming up Modlite tends to have some great prices for their holiday sales. Hope that helps a bit. Keep sending questions as you come up with them and I'm glad to help out.

      @ that was extremely helpful! Yeah, the part that was really confusing me was the Arisaka light kit is truly a build your own light, which I think is awesome but the amount of options you can choose from I had to write them down so that I can look up each one to see what they are and what they do however once again I do appreciate your feedback.

      The options are overwhelming for sure. I had to do the same of writing down the different options and weighing which ultimately fit the needs/wants from this build. After doing this one though I have greater understanding but still much to learn myself.

    How was the Barrel Nut install?

    • @itsmillartime6916
      @itsmillartime6916 27 днів тому

      Sorry not sure I understand your question. Barrel nut is placed over barrel down to barrel extension. Aeroshell 64 grease is used on the threads. It is then tightened up loosened back off then tighten back down to manufacturers torque spec. The backing off is to help season/prep the threads prior to torquing down. Not everyone does that step. Once barrel nut is installed you can slide the handguard over the nut center it and torque the screws to manufactures spec.

    I've been in the market for a ballistic helmet and found a lot of good reviews on this. Sub $500 isn't a bad price to try to get into a helmet build out. No NVGs but having some frag and ballistic protection along with built in ear protection I can hook in seems really useful.
