Make Jack-O-Lanterns With Swapable Faces Without Using a CNC or Laser Engraver | Halloween 2024
Last year, I showed you how to make Jack-O-Lanterns without using a CNC or Laser Engraver. This year, I will show you how to make Jack-O-Lanterns with interchangeable faces without using a CNC or laser engraver. You can create one Jack-O-Lantern from one Cedar Fence Picket. With the interchangeable design, you can upsell these Jack-O-Lanterns for year-round use. I also explained how to get these templates for you to use.

Do you sand the pickets before cutting to size? or do you use a planer?
Nope.
If anyone's curious those fence pickets are 5.5" wide, 5/8" thick, and 6' long.
Be careful, some of the cedar fence pickets are thicker than others, pick them out well.

What's the difference between the acrylic and MDF material for template? Is it life span of material?

Good job man. You’re braver than I am. Thanks for the video. I like your process. I made two of my own templates last year for these and was over it by the time I got finished lol.
Not sure how you make interchangeable faces when the colors of each season is different.....
I choose not to paint mine. Though it doesn’t mean you can’t. Red can go with with almost any seasoning. Green too.
Just don't paint them. Just let the customer decide if they want them painted or not. This also gives the customers the option to paint it themselves if they so choose at a later date

Awesome idea. We started making some this year. Slightly different design. When do you normally start seeing these sell?
For me, September was the prime time for lanterns last year. But I relied heavily on local Facebook groups.
I highly recommend buying the templates from Wallace. I purchased three so far and I will be ordering a couple more. I have #20 fence slats cut up and ready for the nail gun and glue, just have to finish the cut outs. I also took several fence slats and painted them yellow, I will be using the yellow ones as the back panel so when the lantern lights up at nite it will reflect a little more, at least that's what I'm hoping for. Thanks for everything Wallace...

This is a great video with clear directions. I am going to try making and selling these this year. I will check the templates you offer on your website for sure. I contacted Delta directly and they sent me out the parts I needed. Not sure if they included a part list. You might be able to do the same.
Mr Wallace, thanks for the three templates I ordered. The buying process was easy and fast. I just got back from the Orange Home Improvement Store and the journey starts today. Amazon has the double-sided tape, compression router bit coming today. I also ordered an aluminum router table insert to get me started properly with the router. The table will be in today as well. Either would work for me…. I would offer both and that way the thrifty guy can get the MDF and the guy that is willing to invest for something that’s gonna last longer will buy your acrylic. What do you think?

Just a suggestion-use tree branches instead of dowel rod. They look cool and you might be able to get the branches for nothing.
I used drift wood from a local river on my first batch. They looked great.
Starting this project today love it only question is in the video they look way bigger then 8” am I crazy or is it just n illusion thanks😊

Apparently you dont have to discharge the capacitors right? I understand sometimes they take a screwdriver from the pos.. to neg.. to discharge?
Would really like to see how you removed the wires they are not all plug and play
I have this same saw. I don’t use it as much as I would like to but I just recently found out that these capacitors would stop working. If mine does go out, I now know how to replace it. Thank you for the video.
