Part 1 of 36 hour fishing trip out of Port Aransas, Texas. Thank you to the captain and crew aboard the LA PESCA! The captain put us on the fish and the deck hands were quick to grab and tag our fish. Highly recommend this fishing trip! Next time we will be out on the 60 hr. trip.

so cool! i wanna get a kayak but idk the kayak laws are in LB you mind informing me about it? I'm tired of getting snagged in rocks at pier j. great video!!
@@Axel-we5lw There are a few laws when it comes to kayaking. You must have a life jacket on board. Some areas may have conservation laws that limit where you can launch your kayak. These laws are usually marked on signs and maps near the launch points. Boating is similar to driving a car, meaning no boating under the influence. You also cannot launch in low visibility without lights on the kayak, similar to boating. There are different laws that pertain to yaks with electric motors (trolling motors).

do you use the scented or unscented version?
@@GurooGuy I use the scented hook up baits. I’m not sure if they vary in price from scented and unscented.
Hello I am new to fishing! How do I start?
@@trentthomas9022 Go to your local tackle shop. Give them a price range that works for you. I would start off with a combo, rod and reel setup. If you enjoy sitting and waiting, then bait fishing is for you. If you like moving around and looking for the fish, then get yourself some hookup baits. Your local tackle shop will set you up with the type of fishing that fits your needs.
Not any "good" spots anymore. Smaller bass, good halibut, other varieties are good around the opening of San Diego bay and along structures next to Coronado Island. I do catch a bit of la Jolla shores. I use hookup baits 3 ounce chovy green for biggest bass and even large mackerel and large rock fish. I cast and reel those and drop cut mackerel for anything on the bottom. I kayak fish la Jolla shores 4-5 times a month when I town. I travel a bit. Retired.
@@SDFishGuessWhoMeAgain Thank you for sharing. I am always looking for new spots to explore. I am having some trouble finding big bass. My most recent video is nothing but baby bass. I just got a new kayak, which is bigger and more stable. Hopefully I will be able to get out there more. The retired life is the way to go! One day I will be able to retire haha
That's the exact bouncing swim bait lure technique that I've used to catch halibut off the Newport and Balboa piers. One time, my plastic jig bait got hit by a big halibut before it hit the bottom once. Right on the fall. Otherwise, I just go bouncy bouncy off the bottom until I'd trigger a reaction strike.
I have never had any luck using plastics off the piers. The bouncing technique has always worked the best for me. Getting a bite on the fall is always exciting and rare. I will continue making videos. I will find some bigger fish. I just need to keep fishing different spots. Like and subscribe so you don’t miss any action.
@SparkyFishHead go 3 or 2 days before, or after, a full moon phase, or 3 or 2 days before a new moon phase. When they are stacking up in shallower water, waiting for the grunion.

I use your products all the time! It’s an amazing and simple lure. It catches multiple species. If you guys ever need someone to field test some products, or want some more promoting, I am your guy!
Dude, I think there's something wrong with the water you're fishing in if the one fish has parasites and the other has an unexplainable stain on its belly.
Oh for sure! This is Long Beach California. It’s known to have polluted water. That is why I don’t keep anything I catch there.
In Mexico, they say you’re not supposed to eat seafood from July to September or when there’s red high that’s when they have the parasite
Thank you for the tip. I have not heard that before. I will have to keep an eye on that next time I go out.

@ No problem at all! I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. Keep watching and I will keep making videos.
I launch at la Jolla shores. Late last year I launched at first light heavy fog couldn't see a thing. I know how long I need to paddle out for the preserve. I can hear the sea lions on la Jolla cove so know approximately where I am. Unfortunately the fog didn't burn off after 2 hours. A 2 manned motorboat came past very slowly. I decided to head back in. I ended up way off target getting to shore and the fog was so thick that I was less than 100 yards from shore and could barely make out the hotels. Never going to attempt that again.
That is the kind of morning that has you on edge. It’s never a comfortable feeling being on the water in fog like that. Glad you were able to make it back to shore safely. It’s hard to think about the dangers when the fishing is good. I have been wanting to make my way down to San Diego. Do you know of any good spots to check out?
why do pacific halibut get so much bigger in alaska. the biggest california pacific halibut is 40 inches but in alaska pacific halibut record is 93 inches 8 beileve over 8 feet long.
That is a great question. My guess would be water temperature, or food sources. I will have to do some research to answer that correctly. I bet that was an amazing fight! How long did it take you to bring in that Alaskan halibut?
It's simple. Alaska has a population of about 733K. California has about 40 Million people. If both state swap populations, I bet those Alaska halibut won't grow much bigger when 40 Million people lives near the coast and you got million of them fishing the area. The big halibuts will get caught and eventually you won't see them get that big anymore and then the State is forced to regulate the catches to 22 inches. And finding one that gets to 40 inches will be rare. If CA has only 733k people, the fishes are going to start growing much bigger and more abundant. A good case study is Washington. It used to have a lower population and catching King Salmon use to be easy and they get over 40 lbs easily, with a record king salmon at 70 lbs. But with the recent boom in population in WA, it's rare to find a King Salmon above 30 lbs, most will be under 20 lbs, with the ave being like 15 lbs. So overfishing can reduce the size potential of any species.
Where do you launch from?
I launch from south shore launch ramp. It’s where PPF jet skies launch their rentals. If you type in south shore launch ramp into maps it will come up. It’s across the canal from where the Catalina express goes out of in Long Beach.
@@SparkyFishHead Thanks. How does the parling work?
It’s $12 for all day parking. You have to pay before the gate will open. It’s a big parking area, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding a spot. I’m not sure if you can pay with cash. I have only paid using a credit card.
Were you on the water on Tuesday in the fog? I think I saw you! Recording violin player in front of the Queen Mary!
