Fast Fast Street set up CR500. This day I could barely keep him in my sight.
Rolling again

A little quicker, still conditions are sketchy week to week. Always leave enough room for error and road conditions. There are corners that still have dirt and rocks falling from hillside. Thou I am open to ANYONE who thinks they can school me up this road??? Enjoy

Breaking in the CR250 on a nice sunny day in the Mojave desert. Along this ride is the "Fastest Fatman". He may not be fast in the dirt but for close to 50 and 360lbs he still gets out and whips boys/men half his age.

Riding up a canyon in Jawbone with some young boys half my age. Should'nt be riding this bike due to the rear tire is completely trashed, also playing with young boys brings out the "T" in me. This does happen dirt biking. No injury thou....
Three fun hill climbs and one fail on a CR 500.

Here are some more difficult hill climbs in Jawbone. Two of them are over a 1/4 mile in length. Few attempt these hills, but there are those who do regularly. They are very steep and sandy. Three successful climbs, one fail where I lost speed, at certain point I go into motor conservation mood. I.e tear down the CR250 just in time....

This is what I like to do. Cruising thru the Rockstore, upon exit I see the "trackday guy" and his buddy (you can hear me cut the throttle as I go bye, subconcious effort). I slow and ride as close to or if not on the white line until they go by. Then I gotta speed up to keep up with them "there so fast". Enjoy the sarcasm...

Fun times riding in the Mojave Desert... It is not a Fatman ride for sure.
Over heating the CR500

Riding with Fish and Brent P in Mojave desert. I have these aluminum guards that dont transfer heat very well. This was a fun wash and up the canyon run. I stopped to let Fish make the hill, look down to see a steam engine... Riding nice trails where we really should'nt be riding...
Jawbone Steel frame CR500
Переглядів 83312 років тому
I love this bike. 1995 Steel frame CR500. Fun fast bike that climbs anything in front of it... A fun down hill cross from camp. Listen carefully and you can hear me grab the gas on the way down....
Pretty fast. Good traction with those conditions back in 2013. . I found your video of the hill climbs out at Jawbone. Those are steep ass hills. Great job. There was a District 37 race that had you come down Butterball on the 2nd loop. That's a little closer in towards the highway from where you were doing those climbs. I just checked and its (Dove Springs/Jawbone) all closed down with this plandemic crap. I live in Simi. Have always loved the big 500's. Had several. Wish I would have kept a few (hell, I wish I would have kept my 71 Chevy Van). Namely a "88 KTM 500 MX and a "91 KTM 540 DXC. The 88 was the most fun bike I've ever owned. The 540 was a beast but the 88 rev'd much faster and you could hit the power band so easy and it was bullet fast. The 540 had this electric power band that started off low and continued forever. But the 88 was much more fun. It blew away all the other 500's in a rollling drag race. You ever ride from Dove Springs back into the Piutes in the forest? We used to do this 60 mile loop that you had to pack extra gas and there would be at least 30 miles of forest riding with a lot of single track. I've got an 05 CRF 450R these days. Great all around bike and easier to ride with the compression braking and awesome on hill climbs with the low torque. You can roll off the throttle when you need to on a hill climb and roll back on and the torque will keep you going. But proper gearing is everything in the dez.
Well good for you, yes a 250 can make these hills easy too. maybe you should spent more time reading what it says" more difficult" doesn't say they are hard now does it...
its funny how you call these hill climbs difficult because i flew right up them first try on my cr250 oh and btw im 13 :)
We got a badass
It is a fun place, well unfortunately they are outdated as most two strokes are. Oh trust me, I will always keep my steel frame 500 and my 01 250. The frame even on the last 2001, was more or less designed in the 80's. They are great bikes and love mine. Yes nothing like a two stroke and yes very bullet proof motor. Honda messed up on that one, because they don't die....
Cool, place looks like fun. I disagree about 500's being outdated, i have a 89 for my trail bike and a 92 extended for the hillclimbs, they are great all around bikes, just depends on the rider, 4 strokes do put the power to the ground easier and smoother. I love the violent power of my 5's and the cheap maintenance.
Scott's Steering Stabilizer...
What's that attached to the centre of your handlebars?
It depends on the hill. Usually hit them in third, shift to second and if need be hit first. Yes its sad. You realize what fun is!! It is a great work out, great scenery and a good way to enjoy life. Your parents just care about you. Just ride and develop your skills. These 500's are outdated. The new four strokes are the way to go. Two wheels are more fun than four tho. Enjoy
what gear was you in when you climbed the hills? id love to have one of these bikes it would be a big step from a xr100 lol but I got a trx450r too. I agree with you 100% about teens these days wanting things handed to em im 15 yrs old and ride when I can but parents restrict a lot of what I do when I ride like one of them has to be with me lol
Look at that front tire skate!! Pay attention haha
Thanks, he is quick
He is on a 95 CR500, set up for the street. I am aboard a K5 gixxer 1K
A hell of alot more...
They called me mad at the university...
how bad does your af vibrate compared to the old steal frame?
Fast!
Oh yes it is, yes he is, NO it will never happen. Thou in his day, I had seen it also. The sand is where the fatman rules. Yeah your point! Were all old. Gotta ride
looks like fun!your frnd needs a cr500 to haul the 360.and ill bet he will pass you.im 41 and ride cr500=the only way to fly=4strokecrusher! keep it smoking...brraaaaappp!
If you think you can Joey.... I heard you rode the Busa cruiser. But I am sorry your quick on the BMW, but really no match for the GSXR. Yes come ride again, sorry I missed you that day.
Let's ride then...I'll show you the lines on Latigo on a Beemer... :>)
Yep you got it. I am just learning how to ride. Enjoy yours
He is indeed fast, and you are not...probably why he pulled away from you.
Not sure! Maybe because its on a head mount that bob's more than a stable mount. Don't see that issue on my street bike vids. Mine is the hero 2.
Yeah, true words of the times. DId the same things as a kid. Kids just don't know what real fun is. The motorcycle manufactures are losing millions daily. But really what kid can afford 8k for a dirtbike or 13k for a street bike...
It is a dying sport. Too many computer playing couch potato kids now days. I don't even know how baseball or football will survive, because the kids don't practice all day long. I know growing up I either rode my dirt bike all day or played baseball all day. That's how I got good at what I did, was the amount I put in. Now days people just want shit given to them, well that's not going to cut it on a dirt bike. That's a good way to break your neck. Too many sissy liberalists now days.
Ohh No, I have it held wide open at times. Its just geared real low and I don't like to just hold it wide open to long...
Wow... yes I would say you have had some injuries. That's bitchin you got access to area''s like that as well as good old friends that ride like they do. It really is a dying sport, but the real men/boys know what real fun is, that's why we ride. On my street bike and on the dirt, it comes down to "how much risk you wanna take". These days, I still ride hard but ride for tommorrow and so on, so certain risk's ya just don't take anymore...
Well im only 33 and im over my crazy years too. Hip surgery and 2 ankle surgeries in my early twenties made sure I slowed down. Last weekend I wend hillclimbing at one of the hardest areas I know called 3 rocks. Its near fresno ca. Its all blm land that's least out to cattle farmers, so they don't allow people to ride their. Some old friends have been riding their since the 60's so they know how to get around all the hills and gates. These guys are in their mid 60's to mid 70's and put me to shame
Thank you Sir, I wish I would have gotten a Go-Pro years ago. As I am in my winding down years of doing real crazy crap. Got to keep riding thou...
That is some great riding! Its not your first rodeo! That's a steep, long, and sandy hill. Gets tricky when it turns to rock towards the top. Really have to be on your game, so you don't end up without a rear fender. Alsome riding!!
These are such cute little dirt bikes. i love to put around on the trails with my 86 cr500r and 01 cr500af
Thanks, just cruising these days. Always skeptical of the road conditions in winter and try to have fun street riding, which sometimes turns into dirt riding...lol, But mainly always try and leave enough room for error of other hazards we find along the way...
great pace! Nice vid!
You hit it on the pipe, loves to purr...
yoshimura? that bikes makes the same sound has mine does... :)
Enjoy, have the 250 top end apart and CR500's is in need of also. We'll ride!
CAPTEVEL100 ILL BECAMPED IN JAWBONE THIS WEEKEND.NEAR THE WALL(WIDOW MAKER). I DRIVE A GREEN 95 CHEV.MY BIKE cr500s #s 500 n 005.sons cr250 bike is 777. keep a look out for me. brraaaaap!!!!!
The Rear tire on the CR was missing most of the side Knobbies due to the chain being worn out! Also tore bike down to find out it was close to siezing. Really should'nt been riding it. Sliding left, then trying to ride the berm to correct. Last minute when about to correct front wheel it hit a rock or something, with no other option to either lay it down or try and "Go thru the bush" (did'nt work) Had speed of about 50 and no other option... Thanks Tear it up "GOTTA RIDE"
his rear tire had nothing to do with crash.he took eyes off best line and went to rt of trail/ shoulder,causing/forcing steering to go rt and wound up going totally off trail. keeping it smoking man!brraaaaap!!!!
Wow! that is one big guy haulin alot of ***. He is very smooth
The fat man rides again! A true legend!
Found a used Go Pro Hero 2. But now I understand the Hero 3 is $200. Paid less than that. Figured until I get it up and going with proper mounting and such. I aspire to have vids as good as yours thou...
So which camera did you end up going with? Nice video
