Flower Art Photography - Introduction Light
Without light there is no photography and it is the quality of the light that has a huge impact on the feel and mood of an image. In our flower photography we aim for a soft light on the flower, but next to that also the light on the background plays a very important role on the picture. Flower Art Photography Post processing Fast and quickly
Переглядів 2,7 тис.4 місяці тому
I create my images in-camera but that doesn't mean that they don't need any post processing. Although most magic will happen while shooting the macro pictures they mostly need some minor adjustments. The post processing I perform is mostly limited to adding contrast correcting color and dodging and burning certain areas to make the images more alive. In the flower art photography masterclass We...

This means focusing on the details of the flower while blurring the background, creating a soft and artistic effect. Where to put your focus point - shallow DOF
Переглядів 2,3 тис.4 місяці тому
Where to focus and how much of the image should be in focus? It can be a difficult question to answer, especially when you are shooting flowers with the selective focus technique. We want to create a dreamy painterly look straight out of the camera. And to do this we use a shallow dapth of field. Should the focus sit on the front of the flower, the center, on the stamen or on the petals. It can...

Poison dart frogs are the jewels of the rainforest. Beautifully coloured and, on top of that, they have a very interesting biology. They come in all colours of the rainbow and can be found in the centr...
The key to good photography: time!
Переглядів 2,4 тис.5 місяців тому
To take good pictures you really have to concentrate and take your time. It takes some effort to focus and find the best frame, and with the distraction of the many choices we have to make, like, camera settings, lens choice, subjects, possible angles or compositions, vertical or horizontal, we often lose track. As a photographer, you have to be patient but with today's fast pace, it's not alwa...
Low noise high ISO when shooting hand held
Переглядів 9 тис.7 місяців тому
Low noise at high ISO or even extreme high ISO is possible without losing image quality. Just by shooting a burst of images at the same settings and averaging them out in photoshop. This gives you more freedom when shooting hand held in low light conditions. On a tripod you're able to set a longer exposure, but hand held your shutter speeds need to be fast enough to avoid camera shake. So you o...

Maybe my question is "odd", but I wonder about the color temperature of the flashlight that is used? Does it matter? Are they all similar or all very different?? Do adjustments need to be made in editing for different light temperatures if they vary?? (again, I'm referring to the light coming out of the flashlight)

If you use Helicon Remote, you don't have to worry about any of your mushroom being out of focus and you can keep a shallow depth of field in the background.

    A small correction: Nifty-fifty is 50mm f1.8, costs about $100. 50mm f1.4 is a better, more expensive lens, it costs about $400.

I've been taking photos for YEARS - mostly of architectural abstracts. I've recently moved to the countryside and have had to change things a bit. I have a macro camera and have a few florals that look...ok, but this video changes everything! I can't wait to get out there again and do things very differently.

It’s always hard in a place you don’t know to find compositions. I felt you did extremely well, Dirk, and yes, you need the time and effort, especially when things are new. Learning about a place beforehand helps considerably. Love your flower and woodland images! So much easier using digital than film, which I remember very well and I’m not returning to it!

Glad it was helpful! Post processing is part of the game. For me in-camera doesn't mean that you don't do any post processing. Post processing's always involved, you can choose to let the camera software decide how to do it or you can take it in your own hands.
