Powder Skiing - From the Ski's Point Of View
I got to fly this bird in 2024 where it taught me how to use my flaps properly.❤
Does it account for g load? It seemed to in another video.
Isn’t flap about angle of attack?
Really neat idea. What happens if someone decides to retract the u/c whilst on tow (they shouldn't, but if they do for some mad reason and I had an instructor years back who thought you should be able to!). I've never flown with flaps so trying to understand why they are in a different setting at 70 knots on aerotow compared to the same speed off tow.
So you made a high performance Duo Discus from your Arcus ;-) How does the fail safe work? I tooks like one can lift the metal bracket to uncouple the actuator?
Probably 3 to 5
I own an Arcus M 2.0 - do you offer this system for the Arcus?
I'm currently surveying the market to see if that might be possible as a commercial product. How much do you think it's worth to pay?
I assume if there is a failure you can left the flap locking onto the flap lever handle.
Yes, that isn't shown in this video. I need to make another video to show that feature.
Is it safe to fly that high without pressurization or an oxygen mask?
When young and healthy it's usually safe.
@@MarkShinnick Airliners that lose cabin pressure above 10 thousand feet AGL typically embark on a rapid emergency descent down to below 10 thousand feet, so I was astonished to see this glider pilot casually cruising around above 15 thousand feet with no oxygen mask and no apparent concern about hypoxia.
@@riverbankfisher they are using oxygen. You can hear the pulses from the system and see the canula up his nose! I'd like to know what glider it is because the Duo doesn't have them...
@ Ah I see. I had no idea one of those ER oxygen nose tubes would suffice as a substitute for a full aviator's oxygen mask. Also, I am encountering the word "canula" for the first time, which confirms my sterling credentials as a landlubber in good standing.
@@riverbankfisher Yes, at those altitudes simply increasing the % of oxygen offsets the reduction of atmospheric pressure. Without such supplement, depending on youth and health, one must force strength making lung pressure as the means to preserve oxygens ability to push into the blood.
You should mention over ride procedure in case of failure
Does it take g load into account?
Oh yes, totally. That's one of the most important features of the system
@@FlyDuoDiscus 1. Spins? 2. Entry into a thermal?
what kind of input do you use for the flap setting ? Only speed or also g-load ? What linear actuator are you using ?
Im vorherigen Video demonstriert der Autor die Bedienung der Klappen durch Beeinflussung der Geschwindigkeitsanzeige.
It uses dynamic pressure (also known as indicated airspeed) and G load plus it must know the weight of the glider, the area of the wings and the airfoil flap requirements
Cool system especially for young pilot ) Great Job!
It's also good for old pilots who have more important things to focus on than the flaps when a computer can do a better job more reliably.
thats a drainage ditch......
It's Gardiner's creek. Originally a natural creek but it's been concrete for as long as I've known.
Wow! What a great video on a practical solution for an esoteric application 8^)

No, I'm pretty sure it's the phone recording the audio. It would be nice if it was the beacon. That's easier to stick in a top pocket and get it close to your mouth.
is that audio coming from the becon? btw I liked how you land it with out getting out of the the car lol 😆
Do you guys have a rotisserie attachment for roasting a whole chicken?

Hello from Germany, Minden!
thats a plane1?!?! How cool!
This 150lbs plane has been around for at least 15 yrs and still no jet version... This should inspire : ua-cam.com/video/LrXZD-G-PJc/v-deo.html SparrowHawk is a beauty btw :)
why is every skier compelled to add horrible music to their video
Very nice glider designed by Warsaw University of Technology (Poland).
Hola!! que gimbal montó en ese avion???
How do you model the wave lift. I thought x-plane didn't have this ability or did you just get altitude by setting it in Local Map.
That was at HVGC!
Low Tow safe as thermal lift strong in Aus,where there is strong UP there Will be strong DOWN--Keep the Tug Pilots ALIVE
Love this new technology! I have the Kodak PixPro SP360 and it is pretty bad at video quality. Thanks for sharing, sub added.
uhm... cool
Awesome!
Nice skim on those narrow skis! I remember you! Going rice patty!
I loved it. Congratulations-Jamie. Nice work Morgan.
Music is a little hard and that shot of Steve hooking up has been used before but other than that good job jamie.
Great filming Morgan!
I can tell this was at lake keepit....it has the yellow tug and the quaddies :P ahh I love that place
Well its very new to me. Here in the uk it never that low. I would love to fly one of these. Gorgeous looking glider and so light. How does it handle? And whats its penetration like?
Whats with the extreemly low tow position on takeoff?
Now available on DVD and Bu ray combo ," This is Cinerama ! Read the review on I.m.d.b,by the worst blogger I ever encountered ,Cynthia Host She needs writing lessons
What is the Serial Number of your Sailplane. I am building a registry of the 23+ made at simple2code.site50.net
Very interesting, thanks for posting this! I've been looking at the HQR-C2 for that very purpose: shooting 3D, since the cameras are synced. And due to their small size they are easy to mount and configure, even for head mounting, to make interesting "first person" 3D video. Wish I could find a HQR-C2 set myelf somewhere....
Hi, great video, whats that white material at 0:41 after the first layer of carbon?
glass fibre?
lookout it going to rain
Love the way you present this important topic is such a hilarious way! Very nice.
crap
Well done video, and neat sailplane!
Hi Clarissa, I am very proud of you dear. Well done and congrats! Your aunty!
looks like you need some small on board HD cams Landing i will let you be your own critic !
