5 Mistakes All Photographers Make
When starting out in my photography career, I made more mistakes than I can remember. But what's important about making mistakes is, as cliche as it may sound, the lessons we can learn from them.
Hopefully you can find some inspiration from this and if you're an experienced photographer yourself, what was the most important mistake you made in your career?

Here's What's Wrong With TikTok Photographers
Переглядів 6004 роки тому
This week I'm back with another vlog after quite a while, talking about how the TikTok photographer 'sensation' Alex Stemplewski aka @alex.stemp essentially shoved his middle finger up at another wedding photographer by interrupting their shoot and 'stealing' the bride and groom for his own personal gain. But before I go through all of this, I had to go for a little swim in the sea with Jay and...

Kids aren't getting slapped enough these days...
another way to export- use knife tool -> click the slice to layers option at top -> export -> export to web -> maximum quality, nothing else to really change, export -> done at first mine exported with small bars, so had to re-add the layers and it was fine
Is there a way to add a video clip to this aswell?
I’m coming up 5 years sober in Jan. I didn’t have a drinking problem either, just for all the reasons you said. Very relatable! Thanks
Hey man! Would love to know what lens hood that is? Great video btw
I keep running into this issue. How do I export my photos to add it to this canvas? Each time I do, my resolution drops and it pixelates bad. I’m stuck finding out what to do
i just started to run into this issue last night. i was able to do exactly what he does in the video on my previous work. all of an sudden i have the same issue too where i drag the photo and it’s pixelated so bad. i don’t know how to fix this issue /: it’s frustrating
This was a helpful workaround, you actually can't use the slice tool for the full insta portrait size as it forces you to scale down, so each of your images are less than 1080x1350, it even seems to mess with the aspect ratio somehow so autoscheduling platforms will kick up an error
Maybe so. Yeah, it's a fact that quitting booze not only makes your world a better place to be in, any good program or resource like Steffon Barkload's Quit Drinking Forever, that’s the best shortcut I go’ogled that took less than 2 weeks to work.
This is more helpful, thank you
Well done. Thanks
okay thank you seem really easy
hello all right, I'm looking for someone to do something similar to this for me, I intend to pay. Would you do a job for me?
The video was great, i enjoyed it
Excellent work! Thank you
Picked mine up yesterday, can’t wait to get out with it.
How did you add the border 😍
Not understanding this focus complaint, I’m no Fuji fanboy I got this camera to compliment using 4/3 for 18 years. The auto focus is very, very good, I’m consistently getting birds in flight or take off when I go to the beach. It’s user error if you can’t get it to work. WiFi works fine also, it connects just fine on multiple devices. Problem with it is you can only download a 115 jpeg at a time. My Olympus cameras I can download 4k, jpeg and raw with WiFi until the battery dies. Usually around 2000 photos. I love my ibis but surprisingly I have not missed it too much.
I'm curious as to what your focus settings are? The AF isn't terrible by any means but it's not fantastic. In terms of wifi, you must be one of the lucky ones! Every single person I know who uses one of these cameras has complaints about the wifi haha.
The AF is poor, its way off when birds in flight shots are even attempted. Show us some BIF shots with this camera (this focal length is not not for BIF anyways). The WiFi issue is also widely known, but you may have a phone that works well. iPhones dont work well, nor the well known Android ones.
@@alahad4723 then I must have the more advanced 100v😂😂😂 because you can consistently get them in flight within reasonable distance of course it’s a fixed 35mm. And just recently went the Scottish festival and got people tossing weights where you spin your body and release the big weight. People throwing 20 foot pulls. Taking a pitchfork spinning and releasing into the air and over a 20 foot rod. These were high moving subjects and it did a fine job getting the moving subjects. If people are complaining it’s you not the camera and that’s just about any camera in production today.
Hey Dean! Solid Video! Super concise! Love your photographs man!
Thank you man, appreciate it!
Agree with all of these! Especially ‘saying yes to everything’. 10 years later, I still haven’t learned that 😅
Will we ever learn? Who knows
This camera is really beautiful
I agree!
That gets to the crux of it doesn’t it. Many buy this for retro-cool, wheee the camera itself as jewelry is an importnt consideration. If the goal is camera as a photographic tool is primary, check the Ricoh gr3.
I would love to pick up this camera, but we can't get them. They are going on ebay for almost $2,000 USD for USED! No Way I'm paying that much.
Yeah crazy news that Fuji have stopped production this week because demand is so high, seems odd
Gorgeous colours on the slides here. That green & cream boy
I know the score mate, you know that
Do you like the silver or black top? Everyone?
Black
I had the silver one, i think i will get black when the new one comes out
@@KaramM I have an old Canon AE1 Program, which was one step under the AE1 which was the pro version. The AE1 was all black and the AE1P was silver/black so I've always interpreted the all black as the pro version. A mindset I suppose. But I've grown to like the all black, it's a bit more stealthy for street photography, and it just looks good to me.It all comes down to a personal preference.
The AE1 Program was my first film camera! I have it tattooed on my forearm :)
@@deanhindmarch_ I had a Mamiya Sekor as my first, then the AE1 Program, which I still have. :)
I have xt3 but x100v will be my next camera! ❤❤
A fixed lens doesn’t mean less expensive, take a look to the Leica Q. The X100V has a built in ND filter, a leaf shutter and its weather sealed, that alone makes the price, the camera can sync with flashes at 1/4000. Since this camera is more targeted to street and documentary photographers, IBIS is not that important. It is a niche camera, that’s why the design is focused on the “you control the camera” instead of “the camera does that for you”. I had the chance to buy this camera when the price was reasonable (at the end of 2020). From my perspective, the overpriced hype thing is focused on beginners who want to “look like photographers”, kind of a Leica thing. An experienced photographer is definitely not buying this camera right now.
Good points my friend! I know many experienced photographers who are buying this camera right now, but they are doing so just to have an EDC camera, something to document their life and boost their creativity a little. Myself included!
@@deanhindmarch_ Well, then they have to adapt to the camera, because features and problems have been know for a couple of years now. I mean this is a kind of rangefinder camera who wants to basically replicate the experience of an old Fujica from the 70s, so you get mostly that.
True. I’d say it’s an enjoyable experience adapting to this camera overall
an expirienced photraphers not buying this camera because they all have one. the hype is there because it's the only camera that has leaf shutter, built in nd filters and flash and tilt screen.
I think the fact that this is an enjoyable camera to use is more why people are hyped about it. I for one couldn’t give a sh** about the leaf shutter, ha! I’m sure a lot of other pros aren’t buying this for the specs and are buying it for the experience it brings.
Great video. Thank you! The pictures are lovely too. Do you mind sharing the recipe you used for the picture at @3:41 and @3:42?
Thank you! For sure, I think that was the Ektar 100 recipe from FujiXWeekly.
thanks for the video! Can you tell, please, it's worth theirs price? and it's better anyway, that iPhone's photos?
For me it's definitely been worth it's weight in gold!
Wow! Sounds great 👍 And did you have experience with Fujifilm ex 4? ‘Cause I cannot choose between this two ))
I've never used the XE-4! I think the main difference comes down to whether you want a fixed lens camera or an interchangeable lens camera.
@@katerynakalynovska6957 OK for interchangeable lens but X100V is really better for ergonomy, ND filter for photo and video, better evf and perfect combo with TCL + WCL and possibility to have 50 with TCL + digital zoom and it's not only a crop. Trust me X100V.
@@user-oq6de8sd6y so, do you have v100? Absolutely amazing? And for some portraits and for street photos will be perfect? 😍
Any recommendations for a cheaper alternative with decent focus? X
I’ve heard good things about the X-E4, it’s very similar to the X100V but you need to buy lenses for that one
@@deanhindmarch_ The ergonomic of X-E4 is horrible, X100v and X-E3 are really better. No back dial with X-E4, not possible for me I use it all the time and I don't talk about focus button in front …
Look into point and shoots by Sony.
Thanks for your insight!
Fully agree about the focus issues, AF isn’t THAT bad in my opinion, not great but not unusable, but the manual is awful, especially when it’s a rangefinder style camera. Wish it had a leica-like split focus (the digital split focus is a joke too) So happy to see you putting out videos man, very excited to see what’s to come!
Yeah AF isn't terrible by any means but coming from an R5 it's a bit lacklustre, for sure. Split focus would be so good man. Thank you for the kind words dude!
Thank you. Very well explained and very useful. Much appreciated.
2:31 where can i find this window? Its my first time using photoshop But im.doing this for my band
Really helpful
Thank you so much, this is UBER helpful. How do you drag and extend the images over each row?
very well explained ! thanks bro.
Thanks a lot for the tutorial. How do you get the particles effect in your photos? Or is that dust on the lens? thanks!
That's a film scan dust/texture overlay!
Are you cropping photos before you drop them on the template or just using original sizes???
It's up to you, you can crop to whatever ratio you'd like beforehand or you could use the frame tool to crop them in PS for the slideshow :)
💙
awesome, informative video. thanks!
Thank you! Can you add videos?
Typical foreigner's attitude
Thank you for this!
5:48 how to clear those guides forever? they just annoy me. xD
I was looking for this! Thanks.
THANK YOU!
Might be common knowledge, but you can just let photoshop calculate the width by typing 1080*5 (or however many you want). You don't have to memorize those widths.
I didn't know that but now I do! Always good to know the basic rules behind it all though.
Oooh, you could do that? Thats so great, im happy i came by your comment
how can we create a border around something like this
thank you bro! greetings from Panamá :)
Yes, there are groups, experts, products, and many other approaches that unfortunately are unsuccessful most of the time. Instead, googl Steffon Barkload's approach, for something that can help make it a pleasure to quit within just one hour, or less.
This was awesome! Thanks mate :)
Great!
