    Did yours leak from the dust seal on top of the valve assembly? That is where my leak is coming from on my 16 STI and im not sure if that dust seal is what is leaking or its the seals inside like you replaced. Also is it 100% necessary to remove the entire rack for this job?

    • @kiku_sti4646
      @kiku_sti4646 3 роки тому

      Yes! It was leaking from the dust seal on top but that is only where the fluid was coming out of. It was leaking from the seals under that dust cover. The dust cover should have no fluid inside of it and it is just there to stop the seals from getting dirt and stuff on them. Yes it is necessary to remove the rack. It sucks a little but that's the only say to get the seals out! It may seem a little daunting but it isn't that bad! Just take it slow and you'll be able to do it!

Shipping was also quite fast considering I'm in Florida and they're in Canada! (That was before 2020 fell apart though so I don't know how shipping is now) I can't speak on their customer service only because I didn't have to deal with them. You don't neeeed to get new cotter pins but I say better be safe than sorry so I swapped them. I personally didn't empty the reservoir and didn't make a huge mess but that may have been because of how much I lost. It also may have something to do with the pump being between the reservoir and the rack. That may not let fluid through it freely. Regardless, it was very easy and wasn't messy until I got it on the table for disassembly lol. Don't let my complicated video worry you, it's way easier than it seems! You got this! Thank you so much! I will definitely sit down tonight and add the tools used in the description tonight! I didn't even think about that! Also, I did use a little ATF but forgot to mention it. Still new to this whole video thing so I've been learning along the way 😂 thank you for the advise and support!

    Great video man, i have a 17 sti as well and this same issue just came up at 33k miles. Gonna contact the dealer to see if my warranty will cover it, if not ill just do it myself. I am so pissed off that a rack can fail at such low mileage but whatever. Thanks for sharing to the community. "Update" dealer replaced the whole rack under warranty, all good now.

    Any drone on the highway? I do a LOT of highway driving and am worried about that. Is it possible to keep the car quiet? I live in a Canadian suburb and don't want to disturb my neighbours

    • @kiku_sti4646
      @kiku_sti4646 4 роки тому

      I've asked my neighbors and most can barely hear cold starts. And with the drone, honestly the only drone (if I can even call it that) is around 50mph or 80kmh. Highway speeds here in Florida are 70mph and it is surprisingly quiet. At 50mph, it's not really drone, more or less just louder. I had a mustang in the past that had ear wrenching drone and this has none of that!

      And if you want I can try and do some filming from inside the car at certain speeds to show the sound!

    My steering wheel is off center and my c diff was disabled as well as my hill assist, traction control and my abs Can it be be because I need to get an alignment for it to get back to normal?

    • @kiku_sti4646
      @kiku_sti4646 4 роки тому

      When I test drive mine after fixing my leak, my steering was one tooth off, it was so minor that I almost didn't even notice it. I pulled it back apart and moved it to the correct position and that was it. I'm not sure how any of that would be caused by the steering or alignment but I guess anything's possible. That sounds more like an abs or wheel speed sensor issue. I'm still learning these cars do I'm not 100% but I would start by trying to run a diagnostic scan to see if there are any issues! Best of luck!!

    • @BP-fx3qc

      Did that happen after doing this repair? Sounds like you need a full all wheel alignment and speed sensor reset.

    • @arturogalarza8451

      Yeah, it all happened after the repair so took it to get aligned and everything went back to normal, no leaks! Quick fix!
