Not sure if you're still looking for recommendations for pens that work with black paper, but the new Pentel Mattehop gel pens look amazing on black paper, and seem to come in a colour palette that's a little brighter and more primary than the other gel pens you bought for your black paper journal :)

I would recommend posca if you aren’t familiar with that brand! I had a black page bujo and the pigmentation was awesome

I'm also a slow reader with a reading journal! I ended up separating all of my reads by genre instead of month. so I can still be creative but I don't feel tied down to a year.

The opening "non functional just pretty" spread is wonderful. When I have a spread like that just to fill space I set up the lower corner on a separate paper scrap then glue it in as a corner pocket for all the random monthly receipts and notes I collect...

I don’t know if you’ll see this but the Gelly Roll Moonlights in 417, 412, 415, 440 and 444 would probably suit you very well. Also maybe 422
