On todays episode, we update the look of the Prado interior with new L.E.Ds! All you need for this task is 2 Phillips head screwdrivers (one long one stubby) and some led bulbs. The bulbs you need to suit the 90 series are: T10 wedge T5 wedge T3 bulb How many of each will vary from trim to trim but safest bet is at least 10 of each (that way you have spares too). Have you got a link to the adapter for the stock front hose to the airline adapter ?
@OMGitsathing unfortunately my adapter came with the kit but im sure it wouldn't be too hard to find its just a barb fitting to air line adapter
hey mate how do you dim the dash lights?
dash lights are dimmable leds, the factory dimmer switch will dim them
What socket is it for the middle dome light? at 10:18 ?
i believe its a BA9S bayonette
I wish i could share.the photo i took today of what happens when yr bottom nut somehow falls off.... Explains the clunking noise!
Well done mate, short and too the point
Looking good Noel , Keep up the good work mate , loving the content. very informative.
What does that yellow arrow mean 11:25
i believe it means you have to change the air filter. its never been blocked enough to come on for me
Thanks so much! I have the same beast with LPG and want to get if off back to petrol. Such a crap careless conversion back in the early 2000's.
Im having an lpg carbureted car, can I just remove it? and close the pipings connected into?
theoretically its easier but i have no experience sorry mate
@@NoelsysOutdoors thanks for the reply mate
Hey mate, Just ripping mine out But mine is different to yours or you didnt mention it but i have a water feed line in to and out of my mixer?
yeah should be a water feed for warming the condenser to avoid condensation on the outside theoretically should should be able to basically bypass the gas condenser with a brass fitting
Your videos are gold
Just an FYI for others; the manual for a JDM 1997 VZJ95 states 4.9L oil capacity without filter change and 5.2L oil capacity with filter change.
Super useful video thank you just helped me take out that centre console on my 97 Prado.
looks very similar to a kickass one at a better price
Yeah, id say its probably the same for like 90% of the parts. There'd be some extra thing that kickass adds to charge a premium. Maybe a floor?
Why have a never thought of that 😭
took me 10 year to work it out too mate haha cheers
Great tips but idk about buying a audi as a daily.. 😂😮
haha, yeah probably not the wisest decision but a starlet would do the same result.
После того как вы слили антифриз и залили заново, то как выгонять воздух из системы охлаждения?
sorry mate, ill have to reply in english as i am worried that google translate will mess up what i want to say. normally, the best way is by using a coolant breather, but since the prado doesnt have one, you will need to fill it to your best ability then, fill the coolant overflow bottle to the full mark. if the system works correctly, the coolant should bubble air out via the radiator cap into the overflow and you should theoretically have coolant dissapear from the overflow bottle. keep topping it up as the coolant level drops until it stops dropping. alternatively, buy a coolant fill funnel like i have and just run the car until you stop seeing air bubble out of the coolant funnel thank you for the comment i hope this helped at all
As an extra note from the vet part of me, the drip tray will also stop your pets (cats mostly) from trying to drink the coolant as antifreeze smells super sweet to them and it will kill them or cost you thousands in vet’s fees so ya keep that stuff cleaned away and sealed
YES i have been waiting for this.
Mate, could you tell me what bracket and mount type, you used for your Maxtrax please? I have a rhino rack xtray and trying to figure out how to do it. Your's looks great. Thankyou for the vid 👌
G'day Mark. i actually custom made my maxtrax mounts from a set of adventure kings awning mounts, the maxtrax board pins and a cut to shape piece of I believe 2mm aluminium sheet metal. I cut it out with a grinder after tracing the board with a tape measure. you could probably do it with sheet metal not ally but itd be pretty heavy i reckon my personal suggestion, 1. grab adventure kings awning brackets and maxtrax board pins (all in about $70 aud) 2. cut 2 strips about 2cm wide and 30cm long from whatever material you can get ahold of (preferably some form of metal) 3. attach pins at correct gap between board holes (27cm) 4. attach kings awning brackets at same spot on both strips 5. space awning strips apart on roof rack according to gap between front and rear of board pin holes (roughly 89cm apart) hopefully this gives you a good idea how to make relatively inexpensive multi fitment maxtrax mounts for your roof rack here is a link to the pins, the awning brackets and a diagram for pin layout on the mk2 recovery boards maxtrax.com.au/pages/mounting-pin-set-instructions www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/adventure-kings-awning-mounting-brackets.html www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/maxtrax-maxtrax-mounting-pin-set-mkii/625745.html thanks for the comment, sorry for such a long winded response haha
@@NoelsysOutdoors you're an absolute legend! I really appreciate your detailed reply, thanks so much, I will definitely do as you suggested 👌🙏🍻
quick question. I"m not taking my seats out yet, but decided to fold the rear seats up all the way up using the pull tabs, but now the seats wont go back down. Do you use the pull tabs to put them back down or is there another way ?
pretty sure you use the pull tabs but check your owners manual, and if you don't have one, there would be a pdf version online for sure
Onboard water storage? That's a bladder mate. Prado now has aftermarket pissing capabilities, choice mod cobs👍
loving the channel, partly because you are basically doing the same mods as me in the same car :D really hoping you swap out the side mirrors for 80 series towing ones before I have to figure it out lol
Might be on the list pending cost haha thanks for subscribing
Drill a hole in the tank lid, add a barbed connection, use food grade silicone to secure it, add a hose with suitable length and secure the end to a location which is higher. Extremely low risk of any water run off unless you flip the car, in which case you'll have worst things to worry about than wet carpet ;) Thanks for sharing. Cheers
solid plan, lid breather would be the go.
i've been using same system for while. I've two main issues. First, tank doesn't have breather if you don't open the lit to let the air in, it kind of bending inwards till runs out of air and stops working. Second, tank is kind of like n shape and tap is at one leg. So u can only use 2/3 of the tank. my next setup i'll change it with water bladders.
They must've updated the design as mine has threaded taps at both sides, but yes, a breather would be nice. I considered water bladder, but i wouldn't be able to secure it very well, and you can't place things on top Thanks for the comment!
what is the brand model number of the pump? Thanks, really like how you set this up
www.bcf.com.au/p/johnson-pump-pressure-pump-aquajet-mini-3.8lpm-12v/622708.html Pretty sure this is the one i used.
I think everyone is over this rain it doesn't stop here in Queensland
Good stuff man :)
Hey man where did you get that tank from?
Its a 40L tank i got from outback equipment www.outbackequipment.com.au/poly-footwell-water-tank-40-litre?srsltid=AfmBOorV3wFA8E8p5vMCT0UPtX4bdNXIDqaKGYI-LO2tk6FUt8Sp6v-0eaM
Leave a comment about where you think my "long trip" is going to be!
Rabbit hill surely
Ill never reveal it if i do mate only true burrowers will know
Awesome system 👍👍👍
❤
Hey mate, 24L per 100km sounds super high, mine doesn't even touch 20 and usually sits around 15-18 when it's loaded. Also have you considered or do you plan to do any exhaust or extractor mods? I've considered it for fuel efficiency and power.
Yeah, 24 to the 100 is about what i get, where i live is not only very hilly, but also has a lot of stop start traffic Funnily enough, where.i used to work was further away but i had to take a freeway so it was 100kms per hour and the car was using closer to 15 to the 100 Maybe i need to look into extractors or a new maf sensor or something maybe that will help Thanks for the comment
Hello Noelsy, found your dash upgrade video extremely useful as my high beam light isn't working and needs replacing. I'm also going to replace the main lighting behind the dash to LED's while I'm at it. Apart from that the other reason for contacting you is whether you've thought of doing something similar in relation to the removal of the plastics around the gear levers, as the rubber boot around the Hi-Lo Range gear lever has come unclipped and I need to remove the plastic to get at it from underneath. I'm assuming that it may just unclip, but I'm not sure where I should start, and how to get the plastic cowl over the automatic gear lever past the plastic moveable slides. While it's off I'd also like to have a look at the gear lever linkage as there's a bit of slop there and it may be that I can take that up somehow. Anyway, if you manage to look on line and see the message I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the process. It may be, too, that there's already a video on the process that you or one of your followers could point me to. In any event, congratulations on an excellent video, and keep up the good work. Cheers, John from Hervey Bay
Thanks for the comment john, i may have some info in my XRS upgrade video about removing the shifter trim, to help gain access to the lower portion of the center console. If that video helps you id be over the moon Best regards thanks for the support
Awesome addition to the mighty Prado, now you need to get out and do more camping trips in it 👍 Ps put some safety boots on when cutting steel, just some friendly advice that I'd give to my son.👍👍👍
Yeah the old safety jandal not something id advise haha thanks for the comment!
You must be a fellow kiwi if you call them safety jandals.
@@garethraven3933 nah mate i just work with one haha he calls his fridge a 12 volt chilly bin
The 12 volt chilli bin , that's a old New Zealand invention from way back 😜😜😜
Now waiting for toilet awning video thanks
Great addition to the 4by
first :3
Thanks for watching mate!
Hey mate, thanks for the video! Couple of questions, what was the reasoning did removing the LPG? I’m thinking of removing mine, I’m getting such bad fuel economy from bad tunes trying to balance performance of both types of fuel. Do you think removing and tuning the car for just petrol will help improve economy? Also on big road trips I am not even finding lpg anymore. How much is it going to cost to install a second petrol tank? 😊 thanks
Thanks for reaching out, cost of upkeep, efficiency, availability on remote trips, reliability theres a whole list of reasons to go back to petrol only but yeah id reccoment a retune if it is in your budget. Either way if you go the back to stock route or the long range route youll be better off in the long run IMHO Thank you for the comment
Regarding the cost thats up to you, if you pay someone to do it, it could be expensive to fit a long range tank, but if you just go back to stock the second hand parts are hard to find Personally since i did most of the work myself i think all in i so3nd about 1500 on all the parts and tools to fit a ling range tank myself, took me about 10 hours of labour so theres about 1200 for a shop to do it plus whatever the modification certification may or may not cost in your area Always best to get quotes from reputable mechanics and see if its in your budget
@@NoelsysOutdoors thanks for getting back! The lack of LPG is seriously frustrating on big trips, my petrol tank is only 60L. Also my LPG consumption has almost halved, I get 200km when I used to get 350-400 per tank. My mechanic said the quality of LPG has dropped drastically. Another reason to change.
Is there a link to where you got the shields
Mate do you know if you can replace a light in the digital clock to make it brighter
My D light has never come on. Thought it was just a function, as I wouldn't want bright lights at night.
That may infact be the case, some markets may need it others may not
Hey Noelsy, good day. Would you mind doing a video on how to operate the 4x4 system? can't really find a video on UA-cam that explains the mechanics of this particular Prado model. I'm getting the same one next week and really want to know how to operate it properly. Thanks and cheers mate! great vids! hope to get mine to the same shape as yours soon!
thank you for the suggestion, ill add it to a video the first chance i get.
cheers on that didint know bout slideing top for arm rest
I've just recently picked up a 2001 Prado petrol and I don't have a bullbar currently, find that this is a great weight reduction that not too many people seem interested in. Doesn't work for everyone, but I actually kind of like the look of the stock bumper and a good way to save weight. Great video and great tips, keep it up mate love the videos about the Prados, great rigs! :)
Tail lights are cool man
Thanks mate!
hey Ive done this but there is no orange indicator Whats happening??
is there a bulb in the socket? mine were missing reverse bulbs
Putting my prado back on petrol and this video helped a alot with the electronics, cheers!
glad to have helped, i'm happy that anyone can use my videos for something, over the moon thank you!
Hey mate, great work thanks. Im about to remove an lpg system also. Did you find a way to drain the gas tank? Or even use it to run the bbq?
If you're lucky, you can dispose of them full at certain refuse centres, if thats not an option i would suggest the ol 90L bbq. Do not just air empty it as not only is it terribly dangerous its also a huge EPA fine. Thanks for watching hope this helps
@@NoelsysOutdoors thanks mate
As a general rule, if you can get more HP from the same engine you should increase fuel economy. a performance air intake, tune, and exhaust can increase your fuel economy. also, especially if you're driving at higher speeds, SHUT YOUR WINDOWS. Your A/C might cause a 1% increase in fuel burn but open windows can cause 5-10% or even higher due to the drag
