    Thank you for sharing. Our cat probably also had lymphoma cancer. We discovered it quite late that he was not doing well as we had the same issue of one cat eating his food. He was always a calm cat so him sleeping a lot was not suspicious.We first thought it was FIP and had to travel to Netherlands to get legal treatment and diagnostic tests. When all tests came negative for FIP, my cat was already very weak. His tongue, paws and veins were white. He lost of lot of weight. He got food via feeding tube. That’s why we didn’t do biopsy, because we were afraid that he would die on the operating table and we wanted to be with him in his last moments. He was about to turn 3 years old the next month. It has been one month since we “put him to sleep”. The guilt is really hard to grapple with some days, could we have done more, should we still have gone for biopsy? But yeah, when you are running out of time it feels like there are no right choices. I want to give everyone going through this a big hug ❤ as a pet owner, it’s a big burden to carry in such moments to decide what’s best for you pet. You just try your best you can and that’s enough.

      Oh Eva 💔 we are so sorry to hear about the loss of your dear cat. It sounds like you did everything you could for him and in the end spared him any further pain and suffering. Sometimes we are put in a position where there is no right or wrong answer, merely an array of options each with their own pros and cons list. You did what felt best for you and your cat in that moment. 🫂 Guilt is such a normal emotion in grief, one that can quite negatively impact our healing. It sounds like he was very unwell and going through with a surgery for biopsies would have been a higher risk option for him. You absolutely said it best: You just try your best you can and that's enough ❤‍🩹 Thank you for sharing your story 💜🐾

    Imagine all this for a non vet who has to pay for all this? I took my Silver Bengal to an ER vet on Jan 1st. After xrays, abdominal ultrasound, fluids, B12, antinausea meds, etc. i took her to a holistic vet who did a fecal transplant. She passed away that night and it was awful. Im pretty sure she cane to visit me that night. A few hours later i found her lying on the bathroom floor, etes fixed but still breathing. Took her to the vet to get eitha ized but she died before they gave her the shot. There was a gush of fluid that i was NOT expecting. It was awful.

    Thank you for the review. I'm seriously thinking of getting an Assisi Loop. My 13 yo cat has severe arthritis. He has been on Solensia for a few months but I will stop it because he got bad side effects last time. He also has stage 2 CKD and can't be put on NSAID. Do you think he would benefit from the Loop if he has no other type of pain control? I am not expecting a miracle cure, but for him to be a bit better. Thank you.

    • @petcomfortvet
      @petcomfortvet 8 місяців тому

      We're so sorry that your senior cat is having these health concerns. Having both Kidney Disease and severe Arthritis is very common in older cats and it certainly makes pain management very challenging. It sounds like you've done a great job for caring for your boy. We are unable to give specific veterinary advice as we don't have a Veterinary-Patient-Client-Relationship, however in general, the Assisi Loop is a great option for pets who are unable to tolerate other medications as it most typically doesn't have any adverse side effects. But please note that for chronic conditions such as Arthritis and CKD, it will take at least 4 weeks of regular use before your cat would be receiving the full benefits of the loop and you seeing any benefits, and you're right, the benefits may only be mild. But, it is important to mention that it could make a significant difference in the Quality of Life of your boy, so it could really be worth pursuing. The purchase does require a veterinary prescription and I would direct you to learn more at the Assisi Loop website. On a side note, you may want to consider looking into the Assisi Lounge as opposed to the loop; with multiple joints affected by arthritis and the kidney disease, the lounge mat would have total body treatment, as opposed to the Loop would be limited to the area of the body that the loop is placed on, where as the entire body and kidney would receive benefit from laying on the lounge all at one time. We switched Porter over to the lounge and he uses it multiple times per day.

We placed the lounge inside his carrier that he loves to hang out in, so anytime we see him hanging out in there, we just turn the lounge on and he gets a treatment. It has been what is best for our family and for him. We will try and post an update soon - thanks for the suggestion!

My cat's stools went back to normal after about 1 month in taking chlorambucil and by now he's gained all of his weight back. He's not taking prednisolone any longer. Sadly we never got the chance. Satine was in her 4th year with kidney disease plus had pancreatitis and arthritis. Fluids every night, anti nausea meds every day and a host of other things to keep her comfortable. She made it to her 21st birthday. She ended up with a kidney infection that couldn't be cleared, on antibiotics for 12 weeks (amoxicillin followed by Veraflox then baytril, I wanted baytril to begin with due to her age and kidney disease but vet just wouldn't agree to it, it was a UTI to begin with but vet dragged their feet and the infection made its way to her kidneys) . Her USG was 1.008, infection wasn't clearing, her bloods were getting worse, I helped her pass. I miss her terribly.

    I used this back in 2019 when my dog lost mobility due to really bad joint inflammation. Recommended by my really great holistic vet. Watched how it helped a cat named L'il Bub so I pulled the trigger. He essentially stopped walking and would only go out to pee while I held him up him with a support harness. After 5 days of using the Loop, I took him to the park just to get some sun and a change of scenery even if he wasn't going to walk. It turned out to be a 15 minute walk, with some help from the support harness but mostly on his own. First long walk he had in many, many months. Not a cheap device but I recommend it giving it a try if meds are not working for you.

    Thank you so much for discussing this. Can I ask 2 questions? What’s the spelling of the supplement you get injected to help with your cat’s joints? Also when you mention this loop is non thermal, is low heat bad for cats? I let my cat sleep on a heating pad on low because she seems to enjoy it for her knee and hip OA. Thank you! Good luck with your kitty.

    • @petcomfortvet
      @petcomfortvet 7 місяців тому

      This message fell through the cracks, my apologies. Cartrophen (in Canada) was the name of the injectable supplement for joint health. Low heat is great for cats - many cats seek heat as they age and lose muscle mass. An important thing to remember is to have a barrier like a towel between your cat and the heat source and to check for skin redness often to ensure no thermal skin damage (burn) for your cat. Good luck with your kitty

    Great review. My cat had a serious hip/socket injury several years ago as a kitten. As an adult, she appears fine, since, but was wondering if Loop treatment could mitigate later senior age-related issues, now, as a preventive measure? And if "yes," how many treatments per day as a mitigative treatment? (and yes, I understand any advice is purley suggestive on my description given and that visiting our Vet is preferable [of which we shall, too]) 😃

      so sorry I am just seeing this now. That's a very interesting question. I would imagine the most healing that was going to happen on that joint occurred within the first several months after the injury. However, previous injuries can predispose the body to develop arthritic changes earlier than it would naturally, I could see this treatment modality as being beneficial. In terms of a therapeutic recommendation, I would default to your vet or the educated members at Assisi Animal Health assisianimalhealth.com/ - all the best!
