Don’t worry about the hateful comments girly. I yap a lot IRL so I just get it, plus, it helps me to feel like I was able to converse with someone after data analysis all day. 😢 Especially since I watch the episodes so late lol!
Your amazing and your doing great! ❤ the check of them! Just switch off! Why actually take the time to comment!😢 anyway you keep going hun and sending love from UK 🇬🇧 💗 thank you for all you do and for being you! Don't change!
are you worried you're not going to get your thesis finished and accepted by the time job interviews etc roll around? It seems like more time spent on job applications atm, than the thesis
OMGGG you talked abt my comment!!😁😁😁 I’m so glad I was able to help you think this through
Y'all have Aldi in the US? I'm shocked!
"you talk too much" bruh it's a vlog
Re: what hiring committees are looking for in terms of "fit" - teaching is a not insignificant part of the job, but it's not the most important consideration they're looking at. They need us to simply just teach the courses, but they also want you for your research interests and capacities. I teach in a program that I don't actually have a degree in, but there's enough overlap between fields where I can teach these courses comfortably. I will also say that there is SO much that goes into hiring, and here I'm talking about background issues (department politics, budget constraints, in-fighting/competition between programs for new hires, petty personal grievances, what Chairs want vs what the Department wants, etc) and I would venture to say that these factors have more to with who gets hired than anything else. I know that may not be super helpful to hear! But hopefully it takes some of the pressure off, as in you can only control what you can control!
I'm at the beginning of my phd/diss process and I really appreciate your vlogs and hearing you work out your ideas <3 also sooo appreciate how you deal with work/life balance and stay aware of how you're feeling, it's so easy to ignore everything except the work
I’m on the market this year too and had a similar moment with feeling stressed about tailoring apps this week. Greetings from my “burnout prevention weekend” haha. I took Friday off too. So necessary. Take care and good luck!
Applying for jobs right now alongside you, and it's so tough. I completely get that feeling, where it's like, why am I doing this work when nobody is asking for it?? I'm in literature, which has even fewer positions (ugh), and I read every job listing and just go "well, *maybe* I could fit here *possibly* ": I've only seen one so far where I feel as though I could ACTUALLY be a great fit. It's all so hard, but we're in this together!
These chatty bits are the best bits! Keep them coming 🙂
I think the succinct way you recapped things at the end of the research chat bit was really good and I do think you can do it! But very challenging and mentally taxing for sure to figure out!!
Morning from Hawaii just watch this video just say good luck for find a job for you
Thanks for this new video! I hope to finish my MBA this year and start teaching in college. Take care!
It was such an beautiful incredible vlog Sarah ♥️♥️♥️!!! I enjoyed it alot... thank you for making my day😀.. lots of love to you✨
your research topic is so cool!
I'd love to hear about your process developing a website! I work in library science and think it'd be a unique but relevant way to showcase my CV
stop talking so much
thanks for the feedback, but I will use this channel in ways that are most useful and enjoyable for me ❤
This is like inviting yourself to somebody's home and then walking around the house freely. With all due respect, you are being the person that nobody invited, but invaded anyway. I love her, all of us as her community people love and accept her the way she is. Gosh, people please start using your brains and have some manners!!!

Hi Sarah , I really love your content and Im a third year PhD student in water treatment and I 'm searching for group writing , can you suggest for me some groups ? Thank you and keep up the good work and good luck <3
I suggest getting bloodwork done. I felt exhausted often and would even wake up exhausted sometimes and found out it was B12 deficiency and low iron.
Is Megan your roommate or do you live alone? Did Megan finish her PhD because she already defended it?
Great video Sarah, your vdeos motivate me a lot to be productive. thank youuu for that
Thank you for watching! ❤
you are so pretty and cute😊
❤
The AT/THROUGH bi-oscillation example made a lot of sense! Is there literature on this about vlogging? Or are you the first to think about it?
Thank you so much for the validation! 😅 I have not seen anyone apply it to vlogging specifically… it’s interesting bc I’m thinking about it in terms of the creator’s POV not the consumer’s…
I used to work at lululemon in undergrad. Align leggings (size down) are great for yoga and lounging, but working out in them causes them to pill. My favorite leggings are the wundertrain (true sizing)!
This is so good to know! Thank you so so much!
omg dyingggg to try the cherry cola poppi!! I'm so jealous
It is DIVINE
As a fellow anxious girly, I would recommend you stay away from energy drinks lol they give me the worst anxiety. Honestly I think the best thing is to try and eat a good amount of protein, carbs and good fats. Apparently that combo is a must for energy so I try to be mindful of that every day 😊 Also I'm so bad with checking my email on weekend mornings when I'm supposedly off PhD work but during the weekdays I never check it on my phone in the morning -- I religiously wait until I'm at my desk to open it and I feel like that's such an important boundary to set ❤ Edit to add that your diss talk made a lot of sense and it's becoming more & more apparent how you're progressing theoretically. Everything is coming together, I'm so happy for you!!
This was the sign I needed that i do NOT need an energy drink 😂 tysm! And omg 🥹 that made me tear up about my diss progress! I love sharing this journey with you all!
Ngl, when you said you immediatley check your email when you wake up, my soul left my body for a moment. I get it, and it's a hard habit to break, but the stress you must be feeling from doing that! Also, love your yap sessions about the diss!
trying so hard to break this habit! 😅
You are so inspiring, Sarah! Your vlogs are my constant companion when I work on my dissertation. You are awesome! I wanted to ask you about the research statement component in job applications. What are the elemetns to keep in mind when drafting a research statement for academic jobs, more specifically tenure-track positions?
Thanks so much ❤ different positions specify what they’d like to see in a research statement, but typically I talk about my research interests as a whole and how they manifest in my dissertation and my publications, and I outline a brief trajectory of where I’d like to go next! (Future publication ideas and a potential book and maybe sometimes 2 books depending on the school!)
Morning from Hawaii great job. Keep you busy
❤ thank you!
I love lovee your consistency with making videos!!!Keep going we love you Sarah💖💖💖

Haven't even graduated my final year of high school, but I absolutely love these videos, and I'm so excited to maybe become a PhD student one day🤩
Omg that makes me so happy to know that these videos help you plan ahead ❤
Congrats on getting those apps out! I have a long list of them that are going to be due starting next week, so I am in crunch mode with them. Job apps contain such horrible genres to write, and I don't think I have had an easy time with any of them (minus maybe the teaching philosophy or research statements). Seeing you get yours out already is lighting a fire under me to finish my first few!
Thank you! Good luck with yours, you got it! 🫶
These are great and well-balanced tips! I also just made a video about finishing my Master's thesis while working full-time in the past, but PhD is on another level, haha.
Thanks so much! Working full time + grad school = yikes 😩
always watch your videos before i start doing my schoolwork and it gears my brain towards starting!
Aw! I am honored to be a part of your routine!
Sarah your vlogs makes me so calm and peaceful, Thank you so so so much for making such a wonderful beautiful vlogs for us and I will always be your supportive🥹❤❤
❤🧡💛
Sarah, I wish you good luck in your two job application and I am sure that you will find a job.
Thank you! 💕
Oof, your diversity statement feels are too real! Good luck on the apps you submitted!
Thank you! Glad someone can relate :')
Hi Sarah, I hope you're doing well! I'm Halima, a first-year PhD student, and I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your content and vlogs. I've been meaning to ask you about the workshops you attend on writing and publishing papers. Since I plan to write and submit my first paper this semester, I'd love to know how I can join those workshops or if you could share any useful links that might help. Thank you so much! I'm a big fan, and I wish you all the best. Keep up the amazing work! Warm regards, Halima
Sorry for commenting 3 months after you posted this, but I have your videos on autoplay and you mentioned something in this one that got me thinking. It seems like your dissertation is super grounded-theory heavy. My master's thesis was also, and I got quite a bit of interesting pushback from both theory heavy academics AND practice heavy academics. Like, there was too much theory for it to be practical but too much real-world-grounding for it to add anything interesting to theory. Do you think you experience the same thing?
Best wishes on your job search. Wherever you go you will do great!
Thank you so much 💘
Yay! So excited for this new vlog, I have been binge watching your vlogs from 4 months ago 😅 Currently in year 3 of 4 in my PhD programme, thank you for sharing your journey, it makes me feel so motivated and less alone!❤️
I'm so glad that these vlogs help you feel motivated and less alone! That is a huge goal of mine! Thanks for watching 💞
Video Idea: This would be Academia Job related and essentially going through things you should consider when applying for an Academic Job and like go through your own thought process or requirements. For example: Certain Pay, Location, Housing Prices in the Area, the Department, Research Opprunitites, etc.
This is a great idea! Maybe I can make a video like this after landing a job :')
Morning from Hawaii just watch this video good lucky on your job app here to support you
Thank you <3
I'm currently getting my second master's in English Education, grades 7-12 to be an English middle or high school teacher and I have to take English and Education courses. One of my required English courses this semester is Rhetoric and Composition.
Hey I am also doing PhD from English literature from India. Feeling good about watching same stream PhD people. 😅😊

Omg thank you so much ❣ The Shark Flexstyle is THE BEST EVER
How many chapters are you writing in your thesis? How many pages is it supposed to be? Did you write out the chapters or are you just brainstorming?
Dissertations in my field are usually 4 chapters, and each chapter is typically 40-60 pages double spaced! I am always doing a mix of writing a current chapter and brainstorming for the next hahaha
