Don't really like how you are forced to use there infrastructure and without your game is worthless. Also the most limiting thing is there's literally no low level access so when it comes to optimisation or you just want to make something cool like a shader its impossible and they do it for security reasons... which sucks. Apart from that pretty much everything you said is very true.
as a proffesional roblox dev 8+ years or more i can recreate EINTIER LITERAL GAME MWIII in roblox studio i can make module to make terrain grass for example custom an adjust everything from experience roblox studio is better than unreal engine 5 (but i love unreal engine 5)
3:13 is wrong
Something I notice about Roblox Studio to actaul Roblox is how for me the Studio never lags for me. But a game of the same quality in Roblox could slow down most of my devices.
Becuasw studio is in lower quality change it in studio settings if u want
I believe that Roblox Studio is the best engine for indie game devs since you have everything you need to make a game, there isn't anything that makes the engine too hard for nothing and with it, you can make your games very accessible. I've been a Roblox dev since 2014, i know pretty much everything there is to know about this engine and i can tell that you can do way better than what you see from others. There's some limitation suchs as the limits for cloud/toolbox assets data size but you can just split the asset in multiple pieces if it's too big. And i think games can only run if the memory usage is bellow 6GB, but using that much is excessive. Other than that, i don't really have any other issue, i guess transparent objects will look glitchy but you can make the effect less noticable. I hate the whole 'It's just a kids game' idea, i know that Roblox is filled with these cartoony kids game but Roblox is too good to be a 'kids game'. I think games should try to remove any content that will scream 'Roblox' such as the default materials, default character, default UI, Bloom and more. Not to sound like an old person but the Roblox community back then was better, it wasn't as childish and boring as it is today with these clicker gambling games or 'simulators' as they call it. I don't think there was any game that really shows the features Roblox studio has, like no game has physics as the main focus for example. I said i know pretty much everything about studio, well not everything, i don't know everything about lua, i haven't touched GUI enough to be a master at it and i think i will find something new about building and/or physics, they make updates once often so they might bring something new to this category sometime soon. Im not a scripter but what i whould like is the ability to use the camera, i think this will give some opportunity for specific games like that could be usefull for dancing games. I don't think Roblox supports VR trackers at all but i guess it whould be possible anyways by coding a 3rd party software that changes the data of the trackers to controller data tho can you use 2 or more controllers at once?
honestly you can make bank off the platform with a good enough marketing/promotion strat. either do comms for developers or hire an investor for a revenue cut and youre gtg. i have partnered up with many developers who are making a living off their games that reach 1-5k ccu. so its totally a perfect platform to make money from... one thing to note is its slowly getting taken over by companies/brands and its slowly getting much more difficult to get your games out there, so relying on other people that can invest into your games is important. but overall the platform does offer enough tools for developers to make outstanding projects, said projects are just usually hidden beneath the algorithm that only promotes games that make the most money, which usually makes a bad impression. take FRONTLINES as an example, the games really well polished and is a good example of the engines capabilities, despite its limitations comparing to the other engines. game developers that arent familiar with roblox see it as a childish platform since they only scrape the surface of it, if you really delve deeper youll see the good side of it
The map you show is actually no more than 1 hour work for a normal developer at roblox. Roblox have got a ton of limitations but this just means that there are a ton of work arounds! I have developed on roblox for more than a year and the graphics are not bad it depends on the developer's skills! Roblox supports good graphics but since it's hard to make and it takes a ton of time most of the games prefer the easier way and in addition the games which chose hyper realisum it's hard for them to edit the map once they built it! I'm currently working on a game which is based of GTA but with different idea and currently it's going nice! It's named Lost Sanches!
limitations is just de graphis lol (Its only the devloper who decides how good the game is)
@@Jackinbox19001 true but even teh graphics most of the times is not a problem
@@Jackinbox19001 but still the studio is like kind of limited with some functions missing
@@xx752xx nah disagree
@Jackinbox19001 maybe yes maybe no I still got new things to learn in studio everyday! :D
It is easier to promote Roblox game via social media if your country has a large audience, I can confirm this as I live in a country with small population it was hard to get it out but one of my games got viral because of the audience from neighbouring countries: Indonesia & Malaysia. Also making unique games is not as worth making compared to simpler games on Roblox nowadays so don't spend too much time on it because the chances are slim that it will blow up unless the idea is really good and you see a potential from it
true but you could also just promote the game in English to reach as many people as possible
@@k4sp Not true though based on mine and my other friend's experience (he also made a viral horror game)
I use roblox studio
roblox is the most easiest way to make money due to being able to devex robux into usd. I’ve made over 23K thanks to roblox. Live, laugh, love lua the best programming lang
btw u can change the grass color in roblxo
u cant put a gradient on it (thats when grass looks the best)
people always talk about how easy lua is, i've never been able to understand any kind of programming language, what's the best way to learn?
do projects on your own and when you dk something google it up, the knowledge will just stack up overtime
@@k4sp ok, thank you
Take a course in C at college if you can and listen and do well in it, after that picking up a programming language shouldnt be too hard. If that isn't feasible, watch tutorials and follow along with the teacher, i reccomend BrawlDev's beginner and advanced scripting series
@@amara7734 issue is I'm never going to college so that's not an option for me
So you can make filth!
Hey! I'm a Roblox dev since 1 year and half, and I was wondering if I needed to change my game development engine. I downloaded Unity, but my computer LAG on a template even if I have 8GB of ram. After watching this video, I'm not sure anymore: Roblox or Unity? My old Roblox projects did terrible results like 1.5k visits... I'm making a game since 5 months, I published a trailer on youtube and everything I got is 30 poor views. During holidays, I remember spending like 6 hours a day working on my game, but it just didn't work! I don't get any visits! Maybe my idead are bad... Do you have something to recommand to me?
an actual game engine would give you way more control over whats going on in your game but roblox is prolly easier to get players so it just depends on what you want to do. but you can try out both and see which one you like more. also to advertise your games dont do trailers because no one knows ab them in the first place, you should instead advertise them by making TikToks/yt shorts/interesting yt vids ab ur game cuz thats what most ppl watch nowadays, but you have to be very strategic with what you show/how to interest people to play your game
@@k4sp Thanks for your answer! I will try Unity deeper. For the "marketing side", you said that getting Roblox players was easier. How can you get players if you publish your game on plateforms such as Google Play Store? Do you need to pay ads?
you could pay for ads or do social media or pay other social media creators to play ur game and make videos ab it
@@k4sp Well, thanks!
yoo if you have any suggestions/ideas for my games/vids or would just like to chat, you are more than welcome to join our community discord.com/invite/ZWgFtGPMvX :)
just learn to use godot holy cow
If i want to learn c++ where should i start?
youtube tutorials, online courses and just doing lots of projects and googling when u dk how to do something, the knowledge will just stack up overtime
try to run realtime voxel raytracing in studio /j no but seriously roblox studio can be a very good engine but it does have it's issues (for example, it only has Lua, which can become an issue when you need to do more intensive work)
true true id prefer even c++ over lua
roblox uses luau not lua btw
whats the difference?
@@k4spversion and some functions

2d games: am i a joke to you ?
"2" + "2" = 4 and hard to read syntax(i mean any syntax that is not c like) is bad enough for me to stick to unity or s&box
yeah i dont like lua either
"2" + "2" would error out in lua lol
@@ImmortalSpelldagger does that mean there is no string concatenation?
@@SuperMegaToto u connect anything with .. Like "2".."2" "2"..50 "7"..true
@@ImmortalSpelldagger wdym print("2"+"2") output 4 in the online compiler i used also you cant make complex games with just lua
roblox has a huge problem: You cant use it on linux and you cant even use a virtual machine because its blocked there too (wine doesnt work)
oh damn
i mean, i expect that. roblox's anticheat doesn't really like virtual machines since they can be use for cheating.
@@SatokoHoujouOriginalRoleplayer yes and i think that they even mentioned this
that's not a problem for 99% of people and I can actually run roblox on windows sandbox
@@berendberend702 wdym what is sandbox
I would consider roblox more like 3d mario maker with code and ingame currency.
The only thing I hate about LUA is the fact that lists start with index 1 instead of 0
i hate that it doesnt have normal oop im so used to classes i just cant do shit w/o them
@@k4sp I've been using C# for 2 years now and started my journey with lua so I can code without classes but they feel essential to me
@@k4sp You can very easilly do that with metatables, OR tables themselves. There's two ways to make classes and objects with constructors, destructors, methods in them, you name it. The only thing missing is the class, public, and private keyword
@@fabimawn yeahhh ik but it still confuses me maybe bc of its simplicity
@@k4sp Ah ok, and you know the local table in constructor method? that might be the easiest to wrap your head around.
well, acctually there is game really well made specially one that is made to copy cod, if you search up for roblox cod game you find videos of a game that does not look like 99% of the roblox games, its so well made.
true true i meant that most games just dont look good
