    Thats really neat! If I could buy a DB tractor or 2 with all the common implements I'd probably something similar to this or like what montgomery ward did with their 2 wheel tractor. Think they called it the power trac? Would have to figure out how to use plows/discs/cultivators/and other stuff between the steering wheel and drawbar.

    I would recommend going to a half trailer width pivot for the axles instead of the short pivots just because as they wear in the tires will start to lose alignment toe and camber causing the tires and bearings to fail prematurely

    A unique method for hydraulics. You think outside the box, so to speak. Good job!. And if I may give a serious thought about that wood burner against the shop wall; Gasoline fumes travel low along the floor. An open flame burner like that can cause an explosive ignition situation in your building. The combustion draft that the stove produces can suck gasoline vapor right into the stove. Be safe, stay well.

    Do you have a materials list? I'm wanting to build one for my little garden tractor. Originally I was going to use 2x3 steel tube for the lift arms and 3x3 tube for the vertical posts.

    • @kurtscustoms
      @kurtscustoms 9 місяців тому

      I think it's all 1.5" or 2" by 3" inch rectangular, I'll have to check again. It was just free steel from old machines they were scrapping at work is why I used it. It sounds like what you had in mind would work great.

  • @jimthvac100

    You did a great job. Is there any way to speed up the hydraulics? that seems way to slow that would really annoy me.

    • @kurtscustoms
      @kurtscustoms 9 місяців тому

      Thank you. Yes it can definitely be annoying depending on what your doing with it. Especially if it's colder out because the hydraulics move even slower if it's below about 35-40 degree's like in this video. I think I could change the mounting points of the cylinders to gain more speed albeit less lifting capacity, but honestly for what I do with it I'll probably just leave it be. It was more of something fun to build, and I mostly use it as an adjustable height work bench. I've torn down small engines in the bucket, I use it to service the chainsaws so your not having to do it crouched down on the ground, I've clamped boards to it for cutting, I pick up the push mowers for repairs so I can stand up comfortably and work on them, etc. And I've found it's super handy for breaking tire beads. So yes I wouldn't recommend these hydraulic cylinders if you needed to actually scoop and pile dirt all the time, it does a great job of it but it's very slow.

      For awhile I just used a normal interstate garden tractor battery, it ran everything fine. I did end up putting a Werker deep cycle battery in it from a power wheel chair which is physically the same size as a normal lawn tractor battery. I did that for peace of mind in case I used it for extended periods. But honestly the alternator i put on the tractor kept the interstate charged no matter how much I was using the loader so there were never any problems. Also I have the same Werker deep cycle in my side by side that's 5-6 years old that's been flawless so I like the reliability.
