Dave, I want to first say that it is very encouraging to hear this from you. It helps motivate me to keep putting videos out there. I will be doing a couple more reviews probably out next week. I’m glad you enjoy by thoroughness, I don’t simply want to regurgitate facts about the Bible or details that you can find online. I want to give some feedback regarding the personal use of the Bible and things to consider when looking at other options. Secondly, in terms of your question on which I would prefer let me answer you. The heritage is an incredible Bible, however, after spending six months with the Bible I found that goatskin is more preferable. I used to think the opposite, I loved the marks and wear that come with calfskin and cowhide, but after research and handling the Bibles I’ve found that goatksin is more durable, lighter, and thus more enjoyable. Cow leather Bibles are often heavier and a heavier Bible is often not used as much. The Omega is awesome, however, I found the paper to feel very thin and not durable for long use. The 28gsm feels much more suitable for a midsized Bible, but on a full sized Bible the pages crinkled a lot and mine had one drop of water which ruined about fifty pages. Ultimately, if I had to pick one I would pick the heritage. If you have the wellington heritage than awesome, the goatskin is preferable to me for the reasons mentioned. It also comes down to prefered formats. They are comparing apples to oranges a bit. Some people much prefer a double column, slimmer bible. Think hard about which format you like best and commit to the Bible you have (if you can! lol.)

I hear you, I haven’t spent an extensive ammount of time with a trutone Bible.

Hey there, I understand your complaint on the ribbons, however, this Bible does not have a paste down liner but rather edge lining with a leather inner lining.

@@nateginsterblum ooooh! I saw another video that stated paste down and I was like “seriously??” Gonna have to grab this one thanks!!! Btw this was BY FAR the best on depth review of this Bible. Lots of great details and “things to notice.” Your vid (and then Confirming its edge lined!) convinced me that this is the one for me. Thanks brother!!

I don’t know of something changed w/ the covers, but had previously owned an heirloom Thinline and it was far superior. The cover was a bit larger, and would mold onto a semi yap, while the goatskin itself was super soft w/ very nice pebbling/grain while even the calfskin liner was way softer. Overall the covers were thicker and nicer… more akin to the evangelical limited runs of this same Bible which are about half the cost.

I’m sorry you’ve had this experience. Crossway heirloom is still top notch now that they are being produced in the Netherlands again; though the leathers have changed a bit through the years.

@ the Bible’s themselves, the paper… it’s beautiful. It’s the covers I feel aren’t up to par w/ what they were even when first going back to Jongbloed. Definitely still an improvement from when being made in China, but just not wowed by the goatskin or calfskin liners. Evangelical makes the same Bible w/ Schuyler’s goatskin & calfskin liner, and they are a lot nicer, or more akin to the Crossway one in black goatskin I had gotten after returning to Jongbloed. But yes, they are still beautiful Bible’s, I use mine most every day… I just wish they would go back to making the covers slightly larger as they used to mold into more of a semi yap, and they used to have better grain/pebbling and softer liners while still super floppy. I feel bad sayin it, as I do love the Heirloom series but when knowing what they were once like, it’s just kind of frustrating, let alone when half the cost for the Evangelical one’s.

@ speaking of the covers being a bit smaller and the quality compared to what Crossway had been using, which was very akin to Schuyler… I live in a very warm climate, if sitting outback reading my Bible, these covers shrink and curl upwards, the Evangelical limited runs and the prior Crossway versions, those covers did not as they were a bit heavier, and had more overlay and were softer, especially the liner. I think that and the lack of texture are what I find disappointing for a $300 Bible. I think they just need to go back to the prior leathers and make the covers slightly larger and slightly looser fitting like the Evangelical versions, of which I paid $155 for my green one through Evangelical. I’m about to purchase the purple one here before they run out like they did the rest of the limited colors. Another thing, w/ the covers being slightly smaller or w/ less overlay and tighter fitting… it’s not uncommon for the text block to even overlap the gold gilt liner which I’ve seen on quite a few which is another issue I’ve noticed w/ the changes Crossway has made. Which again, it saddens me to say, as I do still think it’s a beautiful Bible and am a big fan of the thinline in particular, it’s so easy for me to carry or pack in my bag when traveling, I absolutely love it and do still think the Heirlooms are amazing Bibles, especially the paper. I’ve kind of mentioned this to Crossway having difficulty finding a replacement for my original copy but not sure Crossway considers feedback or not, seem like really nice people working there though. I think it does get more difficult though w/ materials and quality when the Heirloom Series seems to have jumped up in popularity and are still nicer than most premium Bibles on the market other than maybe Schuyler & Allan. Schuyler unfortunately doesn’t make a thinline like this, although the new PSQ in ESV is very appealing. Allan, lol… beautiful Bibles but like a car loan haha

So far it still pretty similar to how it was when I first bought it. It definitely takes some marks and dents but it is a very high quality leather

Started using coconioon shampoo and the reactiivate serum a while back. Maybe it’s just me, but my hair feels a bit thicker and looks shinier overall. Only time will tell.

I haven’t handled horween but I used a Wellington regularly. Wellington felt more like a waxy leather. This calfskin is softer and smells amazing. I would take this calfskin over Wellington it’s also analine leather

It’s a bit larger of a foot print than the previous PSQ. If you are looking for a hand sized bible that may be your best bet. I believe this Bible is better all around and is a perfect size carry Bible. The readability will be better on this updated version as well.
