I'm a rider. But from 2000 to 2010 undiagnosed SACROILIAC JOINT DYSFUNCTION painfully and progressively crippled me until I couldn't stand or walk without the use of crutches. Riding was impossible. From then until 2017 UA-cam creators became my only connection to activities I loved but could no longer do. I really missed riding. Those creators kept me going and I did my riding through them. I became their friend even though they didn't know me. 2017 brought me a miracle that restored my mobility, and in 2018, I was able to fulfill a life long dream, a 37 day 10,000 mile motorcycle tour of America. I'm blessed to be a rider again.
I know there are many people who can't ride for a variety of reasons. I was one of them.Through video, I'd like to share my blessings as others shared with me, by bringing those people along on my travels. I'd also like to make people aware of the misunderstood, regularly undiagnosed and crippling illness of SIJD. Come on, let's take a ride.

You really got over 50 mpg?
I did indeed. And not just once. The bike sips gas when run at normal (65-75) speeds. But, being a carbureted bike, the mileage is affected by speed and altitude. I don't ride the bike enough these days. I've got a Goldwing 1800 and I also bought a BMW R1250RT this year for my 70th birthday. BTW, the BMW consistently gets 50-60 mpg. Thanks for watching the video and for leaving a comment. I appreciate it.
@@HaveMotoWillTravel Which one out of the 3 is the most comfortable for long trips?
@C_MacC23 I'd say that the Voyager and the Goldwing are very close, with the Goldwing having the comfort advantage and the Voyager having the advantage on luggage capacity and ease of packing. I'd ride either one on a cross-country trip tomorrow without hesitation.
Hey Rich. If you’re an old grouch, what does that make me…….😂
A slightly younger old grouch, Russ. 😂😂
Well I happen to own a Voyager xii and gl 1800 .to me the gl 1800 is very stable on the freeway Voyager xii not as much but all things considered your not losing much with Voyager is a 1988 the gold wing is a 2005 both will get you across the country.
I agree with your assessment of the bikes. You and I are members of a very exclusive group. Not many who can lay claim to owning two of the world's greatest touring motorcycles at the same time. Congrats! Thanks for watching the video and for leaving a comment.
This is incredible! I can't imagine what those nearly two decades were like for you. You're a true warrior, master! That moment with Vicky… just speechless.
Vicki texted me last week. She wanted some pictures of me on my motorcycle so she could show them to a patient and give him a little hope. She's a gift from G-d.

Oh wait, what?😮 I feel I'm about to witness greatness. 💪Let me just get going with the other chapters. Thanks for sharing this!!
Welcome to the channel my friend! Mike Ranger from Canada watched the whole series yesterday and called me. I hope you enjoy it. Some beautiful country and some funny conversations. I'm honored that you would take the time to watch. Let me know what you think.
@@HaveMotoWillTravel I'm on my way to watch it all. This is a life changer story Rich, for everyone. You are such an amazing person. A hug in the distance, thank you so much for sharing this story. And as I've told you probably more than a couple of times already, I'm so glad to have met you and so much looking forward to see you again.
You are very kind to say that Ruben. My wife Sharon made me share this story. She said it would help someone, give them hope. She was right. I got contacted by a man who had lost his leg in a construction accident. He said that these videos convinced him that he'd ride again, and now he does. Several other people have said they were inspired to ride again because of this series. That's as good as it gets. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Thank you so much for watching.
What app do you use... my old eyes could use it 😊
@hijinx4u Hi Jason. That's an app called Car Home Ultra. I've used it for years, and it's a great way to organize apps for use on the bike or in the car. It's very visible (I have old eyes too), very customizable, and very useful. I did a review on it. Here's a link if you'd like to have a look. ua-cam.com/video/n1Wfygi1uGg/v-deo.htmlsi=zo28adOclrD8N6X4 Good luck, and thanks for visiting my channel.
@@HaveMotoWillTravel thank you. This app is great. I'll share it with my friend 🧡
I'm happy to help. Enjoy.
Careful with those test rides! I took one last weekend, then the next day I came back and bought it. Rode home on a state police edition R1200RT-P with the police electronics removed. Still has the slim side cases and the police crash bars and the radio box. Very sharp looking. Can't wait to go someplace on it.
BMW knows what they're doing with the test rides. After I did the 2016 test ride, a friend told me he was trading his 2022 on a GS1300, and he'd sell me the RT for whatever they allowed him on a trade. It's sitting in my garage. The last thing I needed was another bike, but after the test ride, I had to have it. Best of luck with yours, and thanks for watching.
very nice bike my grandpa just gave me his 2001 voyager 1200 with 13000 miles
Wow! Congratulations. What a gift! He gave you a legendary touring bike, and if maintenance well, you'll be able to give it to your own grandson. They're great bike and nearly indestructible. Thanks for watching and put some miles on that puppy. They're made to ride.
How many miles on it ?
It had 19000 miles on it when I bought it. It has about 32,000 miles on it now. 10,000 of those were put on on this Cripple 2 Cross Contry trip. I still have the bike and I still love it. Thanks for watching.
Im in the process of trying to purchase a 1988 Kawasaki Voyager here in town, if the bike and weather work out tomorrow, I should have the bike tomorrow evening. sub# 930
Hey Zombie, thanks for being sub #930. I appreciate it and thanks for watching the video. I hope you have your own Voyager xii by now. They're great machines, simple, dependable and easy to work on. Many 250,000 mile bikes on the road. Check out the American Voyager Association website. Great info over there including service and parts manuals that you can download. Good luck with your new to you bike. I hope it worked out.
I love Voyager. I've been looking for a Voyager
They're out there. Be patient, keep looking and it will show up. Thanks for watching.
I like a comparison with the Goldwing, I’ve always wanted and RT but feel it’s to close to my wing to justify having both.
I'm working on the comparison video. Stand by. I want to be fair to both and each have tneir pros and cons. I need to ride the RT more but right now id say that there are some very good reasons to have both. Thanks for watching and keep an eye out for the comparison video. Be well.
So now after a couple of months, whats your opinion?
Well Wayne, I'll tell you. It's a rocket. Fast as hell, and it handles like a dream. The lighting, electronic suspension, quick shifter, 10.25" digital dash, favorites buttons, trip computer, navigation, radio, bluetooth/wifi, adaptive cruise control, adaptive headlights, adjustable windshield, weather protection, heated seats and grips, wireless and wired glove box phone charging, central locking, removable luggage, single sided swing arm, Brembo brakes, etc.,etc. are all amazing features and rival any luxury motorcycle or car I've ever ridden or driven. Absolutely top notch! They all work seamlessly. It's a pleasure and thrill to ride. But............if I'm spending 30+ days and 10,000 miles on the road, I'm taking my 2007 antiquated Goldwing. It's smoother, quieter, and more comfortable. Especially 2 up. Dont get me wrong, I'm not sorry I bought the RT. Especially considering the deal I got. But, for long duration touring, you can't beat the Goldwing. Just one man's opinion Thanks for watching and asking.
One minute you cannot figure out how to use it, and a mile later you are an expert telling us Honda screwed up big time.
Well, Gary, you obviously didn't watch the whole video, or you would have known to which screw up I was referring. That's OK, I appreciate your half hearted view and your uninformed comment. Be well, stay safe.
I now own a Harley, in 1984 I bought a brand new Goldwing. Back when it was a 4 cylinder. I still miss the Goldwing
I can believe you miss it. I just bought a BMW R1250RT. It's a rip snorting technological masterpiece. But, I won't be getting rid of my 2007 Goldwing as I had planned. Goldwings, any year, are keepers. I have a friend with a 1987 4cylinder GL1200 that runs as strong today as it did brand new. It's still a reliable long haul bike that he'll ride anywhere without hesitation. Thanks for watching and commenting, Rick Much appreciated
Beautiful machine Sir, enjoy
Thank you so much, Ray. I have been enjoying it. I'm looking forward to taking it on an extended trip as soon as I have the time. Thanks for watching and commenting.
What you described the ride is exactly what I’m looking for! Off the beaten path back country cruising!! I’ll be purchasing one here pretty soon thanks
The Harley is definitely the bike for that kind of riding. Very relaxed and easy to ride. The sound of the big v-twin is so soothing. I've really been enjoying my Suzuki Intruder 1500 LC. Same kind of ride. You won't break any speed records but you'll enjoy every relaxed minute of riding. Enjoy your purchase and thanks for watching and commenting.
What type of phone is it
It's a ZTE AXON 7 but I'm not sure they are available anymore
Ive got a 250 vstrom and its smoother at 120 km per hour than the boxer 1200rt My hands were buzzing after 20 minutes on the 2009 rt they do look nice i will test ride another a 2006 model in mint condition soon and compare
I love that little V-Strom. I didn't think were available here yet. The R1250RT isn't as smooth as my Goldwing, and after a 4.5 hr ride yesterday, my throttle hand was a bit numb. I just put on the cruise control for 5 minutes and I was as good as new. It really is quite a machine. Test ride a new one just for fun. The dealers are pretty good about demo rides. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.

Good eyes, Steven. It's a nice feature. Not only was the electrolyte low, the battery was trash. It turned out that my battery maintainer was overcharging. It's all good now. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Im a diebetic i get sleepy too, but alittle cat nap will do the tric.! Nice bike
I discovered the 20 minute cat nap. It changed everything. Now I know the secret. Thanks for watching the video.
If you loved the RT, You will be obsessed with the K1600GT! I promise! Ive owned several RT's which I absolute LOVE! But once I test drove a K1600 it was a totally new ball game for me and so I got one. Oh man! The power is unreal! And like I said already, you can get a tune through Brets Tunes and the bike will easily hit 175 mph! an absolutely incredible bike! You gotta test one. Thank me later.
Your enthusiasm for the K1600 is obvious and infectious. I'm taking my 2022RT in for service. I'll ride the K bike while I'm there. Thanks again.
You have to test ride a K1600GT. They are speed limited but will easily do 136mph! You can get it tuned by Brets Tunes which will remove all limits. It is around $850.
Thank for the info and suggestion, William. Test riding the K1600 is on my list. Thanks for visiting the channel and for leaving a comment.
Of all the touring bikes ive had harleys are not ideal for two up. But alone on it seems much better. Yes my goldwing had power to spare. I love both bikes.
There are so many good two up touring bikes on the road. I think the newer Harleys are great bikes. I test rode a 2023 Road Glide and it blew me away. But, they all seem to need a bit of tweaking to make them just right. A Goldwing is right, straight out of the box. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.
I went on a Motorrad ride out last weekend on this bike. It's 200 pounds heavier than what I ride, but this bike was just as easy to handle and manouver, even at slow speeds (friction zone).
I agree. The weight just disappears once underway. But, I moved from a Goldwing. This bike is at least 200 lbs lighter. I i still own and love the Goldwing and find low speed handling to be very good. Thanks for watching the video.

Very cool idea you had with this, Rich!
Thanks Jody. If only yourube viewers felt the same.🙂
RT´s are simply perfect. In every single aspect they are perfect. Even the old ones are awesome bikes, they run forever.
Well it impressed me enough to buy a 2022 Option 719. The bike has everything! It's almost overwhelming. I'm looking forward to many miles on it. Thanks for watching.
The old ones are fantastic. I first test-rode a 1998 R1100RT, loved the power and wind protection, started looking for one. And now I just picked up a 2007 R1200RT-P, state police edition. The handling and power are amazing. Very plush ride too.
If this can help me, do you know where the solenoid is on this particular model?
Yes I do. It's on the right front tucked up under the tank. There's a wire cable coming out the bottom. Watch this video and you'll get a good idea of where it is and how to sync front and back cylinders. ua-cam.com/video/AJioDZjrsJ4/v-deo.htmlsi=14rgvIzqKZK2shf7 Have fun, thanks for watching. Nice to see you riding your B-day present!!! Looking forward to more fun on the Beemer on the Dragon!!
Good to hear from you, Tommy G. I've been so busy that I haven't ridden as much as I'd like. Plus, the weather has been crappy. Look for more videos soon. Summer has arrived. Be well. Best to Jodie.
@@HaveMotoWillTravel Thanks Rich Chat tomorrow ?
@PSPTommyG For sure. I'm available all day.
Congrats! You'll get used to it in no time. Coming from multiple GS and GSA models, I could not believe how nimble and stable the RT was.
Thank you. The bike has definitely impressed me with its performance and handling. I'm in the process of replacing the tires and then I'll be doing some real touring on it. I'm curious how it will compare to my Goldwing on a long-distance ride. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.
Happy Birthday to you sir! I just had one also and put down a deposit down on an RT for my birthday too!
Happy birthday to you too, Eric. I hope you get lots of travels and pleasure from your birthday present. It's a great bike worthy of its reputation. Use it in good health. Thanks for watching the video and for leaving a comment.
Nice! That bike seems to have it all! Your new audio set up is super clean although at times had maybe a little to much echo, but absolutely no distracting outside noises! I do think you need to add a little background audio, engine, road noise, in a second audio track. Well I am done my coffee, back to work, see you on the next one!
Thanks Rob. The bike has more than a bike needs. I'll see if I can adapt. I'm a bit old school as you know. I dropped the ambient audio track due to the camera picking up my voice. It caused a bit of an echo. I'm still working on the right balance. I too prefer some engine and exhaust noise. I'll get it right. Thanks for watching.
@@HaveMotoWillTravel A possibility is strap a well muffled mike to the back seat and run to the camera. It won't pick up your voice and will catch the deep exhaust note or in the BMW's case whatever exhaust note it attempts!
im really impressed with this bike! It has a ton of wicked cool features. You have come a looooong way since your Katana Days when it comes to sport touring and touring bikes! I bet this thing is comfy and fast as hell! I also think your reviewing skills are quite good too! keep it up! Almost at 1000 subscribers Oh...AND GO FASTER!!!!! Thanks Nathaniel. The 1000 subscriber thing is coming slowly. UA-cam doesn't like me. The fast videos will come. I'm replacing tires first and getting used to the bike. I hope you're well and thanks for watching and commenting. Love you.
also side note, id personally love to hear more bike and road noise if possible
I agree. But on this video, it created echo because the camera also picked up my voice. I opted to cut the camera sound in editing.
dope. but your title should be "BMW S1200 RT first ride " for maximum viewership
But it's an R1250RT. I'm not sure what I'm missing. Spacing?
Hey there Rich, I enjoyed your video and think you have a beautiful bike there. It sure has lots of good options. Have fun out there.
Thanks Larry. I'm not sure the options are necessary for a motorcycle, but we'll see if they become must-have items as I I get used to them. I always appreciate your comments. Thanks. Be well.

This was my first experience with the RT. As you could see, I was very impressed. In fact, I was so taken with the bike, I bought a 2022 with 7k miles on it. Stay tuned for upcoming videos. Thanks for visiting the channel and watching the video. Much appreciated.
What is the phone and the app please
The phone is a ZTE Axon 7. You must have the case for it to fit tightly. The app is called "Car Home Ultra" Thanks for watching the video.
All of them sound good. Cheers
Thanks Dave. The sound is so much a part of their personalities.
I’m partial to the voyager because it’s identical to mine. Be safe Aaron from Canada
The sound of the Voyager's in line 4 accelerating is intoxicating. It may be my favorite of all of them.
Voyager-1 Goldwing-2 BMW-3 Intruder-4. They all sound really Good and Tuned. Hope your enjoying your new Beamer!
Other than the Beemer, they're all old. I love the tasks of keeping them running well and sounding good. Keeps a smile on this old man's face. Good to hear from you Chris.
The motorcycle sounds never gets old. Love it! Thanks for sharing. Ride Safe.
Thanks Larry. I can't imagine not having those sounds in my life.
You are so right, and I feel the same way. Each sound speaks volumes in their own way from the big powerful thumps of a V twin to the refined and sophisticated power of the Goldwing. I do feel the BMW sounds a little bit like a Singer though, maybe just a little bit louder exhaust note.
I need these sounds in my life, Rob. I love the sound of machinery operating the way it's supposed to. I take pride in the ability to hear the differences in engines and being able to identify the type and often the make of what I hear.
@@HaveMotoWillTravel Exactly right! My Dad used to say "music to my ears" when hearing an engine he appreciated, I continue the tradition. For some of us we don't need that engine to physically move us to appreciate it, just listening to it doing its thing moves our souls!
@dryrockstudios3231 Well said! It's one of the reasons I so appreciated your videos when I couldn't ride. The sound of your engine put me on the bike and satisfied the longing I had to ride. The beautiful scenery and the sound of that big v-twin is the essence of riding. Thanks again.👍🙏
You need a v3 two stroke in your life! ua-cam.com/video/UelY30eSFl8/v-deo.htmlsi=C0rj1DJn1oCj-JhP
Just a tease!!
Tease is my middle name.😉
Happy Birthday! I say go for it, new bikes are good for your soul.
I went for it, Gil! I'm happy I did. Now I need a good long road trip to soothe my soul. Good to hear from you.
