    Sad to see this using pressure treated wood. It's not safe for use around food crops. 😢

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld 2 дні тому

      This is a building that needs longevity, and the wood is not in the soil that will affect crops. I primarily do organic gardening, but with building, sometimes you use what you have and can afford. Additionally, treated wood is not as bad as it was 20 or so years ago thanks to some changes in how it is processed.

    If I store seeds in the freezer ( in an air tight container ) will they keep for many years and stay viable ?

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld 2 дні тому

      Freezing isn't necessary. As long as they are in a cool dry place, they should be good for years (depending on the variety and type of plant). Some plants can benefit from some freezing of the seeds, but in general, just keeping them in a cooler area (like a basement) in an airtight container where they will stay dry is fine. I have grown seeds successfully that were just kept in a tupperware container with a locking lid that were anywhere from 3 to 8 years old with good germination.

    I’m already thinking of how to keep my flock cool this summer. It gets really hot in Texas. Are you still happy with this system? Average 108° daily. Last year they really suffered.

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld 4 дні тому

      I don't use the system anymore. I never had any issue with it though, with the exception of occasionally having to tighten a leaky nozzle. And it worked really well for me. I stopped using it because I ended up tearing down this chicken run and rebuilding it in the lower back corner of my yard that is much more shady and cooler in the summer so I haven't had a need to use it since then. I had some chickens that didn't like to be near the misting area when it was going, but overall it would help cool the air and the ground and made a difference for my flock on those hot days.

    By one week, i had 5 hens. Out of which 2 are rooster. One of them got flu and passed away. Now, the other rooster also got flu. I went to the vet. On the second day, when I visited the vet, they told me it had mycoplasma. They give him 2 injection and something in mouth. They told me this injection is the final injection for treatment. If it gets better, come tomorrow again. I hope and pray to Allah that it will get better. These 4 chickens sleep together in a grate. What should I do? Do other hen also got mycoplasma?

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld 4 дні тому

      Because mycoplasma is so contagious among birds, if one has it, you can normally assume any others in the flock will have it as well. Some birds will just be carriers though and never show any symptoms. I have had in my flock for I think almost three years now and I have 5 (4 hens and a rooster) that have never showed any symptoms or had any problems. Others in the flock died from it, or had symptoms I had to treat off and on over time. You may want to check with the vet to see if giving your other chickens the vaccine will be worth it.

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld 4 дні тому

      One additional note is that feeding your chickens foods and herbs that help boost their immune system can be helpful. Mycoplasma will often exacerbate other health issues they may have, so the healthier you can keep them when immune boosting foods, can also reduce future issues.

    Hello, I have a question: why do the seeds need to ferment? I found potato berries last year on my crop. I had never seen this before, and was very surprised about that. So in my mind, because i'm just very curious, I took the seeds out and dried them . Just to see if I could make them sprout. Of course, I did not know that they needed to ferment. (I'm just not that experienced, and have not enough knowledge) So, I guess I have two questions now: will my seeds sprout without the fermenting process? If not, can I do the fermenting prosess on my dried seeds before put them in the soil? Many thanks for your answer 🥰

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld 12 днів тому

      Its not absolutely necessary to ferment the seeds. The gel that surrounds the seeds has a natural germination inhibitor in it. Fermenting the seeds helps break that down and can improve germination rates. You can plant your dried seeds, you may just have lower germination rates.

    You said is toxic but birds eat this and the only problem is spreading the seeds? Stop the nonsense please.

    • @oneseedoneworld
      @oneseedoneworld 2 дні тому

      I go over the toxic properties in the plant. This is not nonsense. Its how plants work. You cannot base what humans can eat on what birds and animals can eat. Birds are not sensitive to the compounds that can be toxic to humans (i.e. the white berries of poison ivy that birds eat, but would be fairly detrimental to a human). Birds and many other animals are able to process many plants that would make a human sick (or even die). It is not nonsense to discuss plant properties that can be toxic. Poke is edible when handled and cooked properly, but people should also be aware of its chemical makeup and how it may affect them. Maybe do a little more research before trolling.

    If you can get to hold and play with the kittens they will be use to humans and more able to be adopted. I have a colony of 4 and 3 are fixed. They are all use to me and want to be held but only use to me. I have a new male now for a couple of years but he will not come to me or let me touch him. The live I my garage with cat boxes and two possum to eat what’s left over. If momma cat comes back with another litter you need whet her fixed to reduce the population of feral cats. I also have two feral cats who live in my house as house cats as they were humanized as kittens. I will trap the possums and take them away 4 miles and release them to the woods. Same with the raccoons. Thank you for your kindness in taking care of them but don’t get overwhelmed with them as they will be around for years.

I was hoping to trap the momma cat first, but she avoided the trap and since I haven't seen her in a while, not sure if I will get her. But I'll just keep setting the trap and see who I can get and hope that the SPCA isn't too full on the day I get one.

They have never bothered me as long as I don't become a threat to them by as you said wrecking their nest or trying to swat them. They pretty much leave me alone as I do with them. I bought a natural green producing breed of cotton. Planted the seedling into a 5 gal bucket with sandy, heavily composted soil. It loved it. I moved the bucket late in the summer: discovered it had a tap root that got snapped in the move. It survived that. It produced bolls. I have brought it into the house for the winter (western NY) to see if I can keep it and put it back out next year. Cotton gets to be small trees down in the deep south. Will also be attempting to sprout the seeds from this plant.

      Sorry about the delayed response, I missed this comment! I didn't really pay attention with the one I had on whether the spines were longer at first. In doing some more research, it will also depend on the variety of the Datura plant. I did find this info from the Wisconsin Horticulture Extension website: "Flowers are followed by rounded fruits that are walnut-sized capsules that are knobby (D. metel) or covered with sharp and spiky spines at maturity (D. inoxia and D. stramonium)." So based on that, I would say that some varieties don't have the spines at all while others do (the one in my yard was D. Stramonium I believe), and the spines may larger as the pod gets closer to maturity.

      @oneseedoneworld Thanks a lot for the info, don't worry for late. I saw the plant and I had got the fruit, but it was green when I cut it. I don't know if the seeds will be fertile. It has dried and open slowly yet, so I'm waiting for it. Sorry for my English, it isn't very good and I still learning...

      @@alanbustamante7338 If the pods have dried and popped open the seeds should be mature.

    We eat a lot of beans and this was the first year I tried growing dried beans. I will definitely be growing more next year.

      I've been growing the scarlet runners for a few years, and now the Cherokee Trail of tears, but I want to add more varieties. I think beans (for dried) take the least amount of work in the garden with a decent payoff.

    Yay a new video! I've been eyeballing the Cherokee Trail beans for a few seasons - your informative discussion inspires me to make next year be the year I finally grow them 😁 I'm harvesting a great crop of Beauregard sweet potatoes here in central MD, some straggling Lima beans (including dried pods for next year) beets, figs and a few snacking strawberries from my everbearing plants 😋 For some reason we haven't had a frost here yet...

      Definitely try growing them, they did really well for me this year. I can't believe you haven't had frost yet! I'm about hour west of Baltimore and we have had multiple days of frost here. Guess its the higher elevation.

    Well hello, stranger! Congrats on the tunes 🎶 I’ll go check it out. November 15th is my 51st birthday! 🎉😲🥳 Perfect date to drop an album 🤘 We got close to 90° today. No frosts for us for awhile 👀 I didn’t know Dr. Wyche’s was a modern day dude 😮 I thought he was from the 1800’s or something 😹

      Sweet, thank you! And happy early birthday!!! Wow, still 90 there?! We had frost again this morning, although by mid week its supposed to be 80, its been a lot of back and forth here for the past 2 weeks. I thought Dr. Wyche was from a long time ago too. I might do a video about him now that I've done more research. Think he was a pretty interesting guy.
