Back in the days of VCRs, I used to record almost every sporting event I attended and others that were significant. Now I'm finally getting around to putting those videos on DVD, and I'd love to share them with sports fans everywhere. Being a Chicago guy, I have Blackhawks, Bulls and Cubs games, but there's plenty more I haven't uncovered yet. So, as they say, stay tuned.

The White Sox' hiring of Tony La Russa has me nostalgic for his first tenure with the team. Here's a game from 1983, when the Sox won the AL West with 99 victories. In front of 46,000-plus on a Saturday night at old Comiskey Park, the Sox beat the Yankees 5-1 as Richard Dotson went the distance. The video starts in the second inning with scored tied 1-1. The Yankees' Andy Hawkins was the tough-luck loser in a 4-0 decision on this Sunday afternoon, holding the White Sox to zero hits but allowing four unearned runs, all in the eighth inning. After retiring the first two batters in the inning, the Yankees committed three errors and Hawkins walked two. Barry Jones earned the victory in relief of Greg Hibbard. Harry Caray called his last White Sox game on TV in the penultimate game of the 1981 season (he called the season finale on radio). Caray, who joined the Sox in 1971, would move across town to the Cubs, whose games he called through the 1997 season. He died Feb. 18, 1998. Before coming to Chicago, Caray called Cardinals games for 25 years (1945-69) and A's games for one.

Bartman was a scapegoat. CUBS LOST THAT GAME THRMSELVES.
Loved listening to Harry as a kid growing up in Chicago!
Afternoon Baseball was the best when I lived there.
My wife and I created the king size bedsheet banner that said "no flag burners here, God Bless the USA! We did it because we were tired of having the media being filled with protesters and we wanted to support the troops and to support patriotism. We stayed up till 4 AM the night before the game with magic markers and the giant king size sheet in our kitchen making the giant banner. Little did we know how much impact that sign and others would contribute to a feeling of patriotic values the kind of which had not been seen in Chicago or nationally until then. General Schwartzkopf reported that when he saw the national anthem, he told Bill Wirtz, " hockey game? That was no hockey game, that was the greatest display of American patriotism and support for our troops that I've ever seen". I knew from the moment I saw that, but I had no problem with the American public. I still have the sign today. Thrilled to cut through all of the media propaganda and to show patriotism even when it's being suppressed nationally. God Bless the USA.
Immediately after this, Cubs shortstop Alex Gonzalez committed a terrible error on a routine grounder, which he bobbled letting miggy Cabrera get to first base. That was the real turning point.
And you still ain't got the 15 inning game from the day before. Shame.
11:38 Geez - Steve Lyon's comment about throwing the fan on the field....totally ridiculous and irresponsible. Gonzalez blew an easy double play. Also, they left Prior in too long. He was struggling in the 8th after 100+ pitches. Why didn't they bring the reliever in after the walk?
I hate my friggin’ allergies.
Should have fired the manager after the series was over (if the team loses in 7 games)!
Cubs choked. End of story.
Crying now, just went to a game and felt so good; Cubs win!
Double, walk, single, error, 2 run double. Blaming Bartman is pussy shit.
why sox fans hate cubs fans
Penny knew it as soon as it was hit. He didn’t even have to look.
Man those crowds were something else. I sure miss this era.
DELETE THIS VIDEO
At 11:56 of this video is why the Cubs lost the game. The shortstop booted a tailor made DP ball. Steve Bartman didn't lose this game for the Cubs. The shortstop did. So for the Cub fans to blame him is beyond ridiculous.
Dusty and Gonzo lost the game for us! Juan Pierre was the most damaging bat he worked Prior!
Dusty not taking mark our seriously was a huuuuuuge mistake so many things did go completely wrong after bartman interfered
Kerry Wood was a dog. The guy carried the team in the 2003 nlcs.
I remember feeling bad when they kept showing the fan in left field, who we didn't yet know the name of. I was wondering why that mattered so much to the TV crew since Prior was so legit I figured he'd get out of it. But then I remember tripping out when Gonzalez made the error. It was so easy getting that first out, it makes sense how it would all unravel after that. Cubs style. 2016 was a good time for the cursebreaker but the 2003 team is the one that would have been really special to see win it all.
It was only the 2nd inning and you had road warrior pop going on
110 plus pitches is ridiculous. Baker blew out the arms of two future hall of famers
No he did not say that he said I'm not having a good time
These losses still annoy me 😢😢
Just realized this is the same announcer who would later call a drive into deep left field by Castellanos
And they lost the series to a better team, the Florida Marlins, who went on to beat the Yankees and win the World Series
1993 players gay slap fight
Wonder where all these guys are 20 years later.
Prior pushing 130 pitches. Not a word said about pitch count. What a different game
Steve Stone was a great broadcaster. A lot of knowledge, and told it exactly like it was.
Woods gave up seven earned runs in this game. His two-run homer was exciting, but we needed him to throw strikes and miss bats - and he couldn't get that done. That's what I remember about game seven in 2003.
Old Man Leyland must have smoked 3 packs of Cancer Sticks in this game.
Sosa all Juiced Up like a Muther
31 Years Later..Cubs still Suck
Ugliest cubs home uniforms ever
Trash fan base. Cubs are garbage.
I remember racing home from school just to watch the Cubs, Sammy and his kiss, along with Harry! I remember this game like it was yesterday. I would vcr tape the games just to capture these moments. Holy cow!!!!!
What a call ! Man i miss 90s and 2000s sports
Dusty baker a mouthy racist coach wasn’t worth cursing at.
33 saves for one guy! I’m not sure this year’s (2024) whole pitching staff will get that many.
I never knew they had a camera in the dugout.
OMG At 25:35 a 1-900 number 😅!!! Todays kids wouldn't even have the slightest idea what a 1-900 number is lol!
Why are umpires allowed to touch managers and players but if you touch them it is instant suspension.
If you're standing THAT CLOSE expect bad things to happen...
110 pitches! Maybe you should have someone warming up?
I think his name is Brian S House
If you're gonna fight... FIGHT! DON'T TALK! 🙄
Short stop should have gotten the soap in the pillow! But they pushed it on Bartman poor guy! And he still gets shit till this day! When the shortstop could have ended the inning!
Just rember this, Sammy was a White Sox player 1st before he got on the juice and was a pretty decent up and coming even before the peds. Sammy had a cannon as a right feilder and was like the one fastest guy as a White Sox player when it came to stealing bases. The peds just enhanced the power game. He had a sweet swing before he went to the Northside.
