Warm-Up Routine Overview:

    I found this on my own after suffering a lot from sciatica from multiple bulging discs in my lower spine. This + squats I believe is what treated my problem. Plus some meds probably helped with flare ups.

    I have found that I can get a deeper stretch by doing this on a soft surface like a bed. You can sink into it without putting unnecessary pressure on your knees.

    Some good tips, although with the minimal amounts of legroom the airlines give you today I don't think you could cross your legs easily unless you are a petite woman or something. I tend to try to do exercises in front of the exit row/door. There is some decent room there at least on the international flights. And one other thing that I do on the really big international jets is just simply walk all the way down the aisle on one side, switch sides and make a big circle I am amazed how many people do not get up on these 13 hour flights except to use the bathroom. The other thing for me is I keep a water bottle filled. I stay hydrated at all times, and it also forces me to get up to use the bathroom more often. Extra magnesium for me seems to help with muscle cramps. And while I'm not proud of it, I will usually bring some xanax. If you get really nasty muscle cramps there is nothing like a tranquilizer to soothe your muscles. valium works even better, but makes you really tired. I have to fly a total of 26 hours one way every three months, so anything you can do to make the situation better I'm all for it.
