14 August, 2024 Day 53
Zero Day / 3,000 Miles for the Trip
Took a zero day today and went to Cedar Point. Was fun, but got pretty sick from riding roller coasters.
Rode “Raven”, which was probably a mistake. Inverted coasters make me sick and “Raven” is one of the biggest and fastest ones. Was pretty sick from then on.
Went back to the room about 4:00pm and took a nap to see if I could feel better.
Was originally planning to spend two days, but probably won’t. Need to get a new seat for the bike.
15 August, 2024 Day 54
Zero Day / 3,000 Miles for the Trip
Decided not to go to Cedar Point again today. Don’t want to feel sick when I head back on the road tomorrow.
Met up with Sue today. She lives just south of my motel. We went to a county fair and ate some fair food. Was a lot of fun.
She also took me to the birthplace of Thomas Edison. Was kind of amazing to listen to an old cylinder phonograph.
Was a nice day off.
16 August, 2024 Day 55
82 Miles today / 3082 Miles for the Trip
Huron OH - Willowick OH
Left Huron early. Felt pretty strong, but had to buck headwinds for 1/2 the day. Pretty much sapped all the energy I had.
Goal was Euclid, but the motel was located in the next town, so pushed to that.
Was the worst hotel room that I ever stayed in. It was cheap, but so, so bad. Learned a lesser not to rent hotels from brands that I don’t recognize.
Had pizza at a local pizza place. Was good.
17 August, 2024 Day 56
81 Miles today / 3163 for the Trip
Willowick OH - Conneaut, OH
Plan was to get to North East Pennsylvania to a bike hostel. Plan didn’t work out. Would have been a 113 mile day.
Got poured on for 1/2 the day and decided to cut the day short to get dry and warm.
Conneaut was doing a D-Day re-enactment and they had to cancel everything because of the rain. Lots of bummed out people.
Planning to just head to North East tomorrow and make it a short day. Hope weather is better.
