I thought the falls visible from the old railroad bridge were the main attraction. and they probably are. But the simple parklike setting along the middle branch of the Ontonagon River just downstream of Bond Falls is so relaxing.

My First trip to the UP included a visit to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Current rules prevent me from shooting any video while on park property. So this "Video" if comprised of photos taken on the ground with commentary taken off park grounds. I hope to return if the rules for filming on NPS properties change and revisit this wonderful property.

I hope people are not allowed to take the dog there like at high Cliff, how sick people. Do you take your dog for a walk at other cemeteries among the graves? Why can't a person be getting something out of their car without a dog coming from around the back and into your back door? Why is your dog near my car?

Thanks for exploring Welcker's Point Campground. I have two questions: From your video it appears that the shoreline around Welcker's is rocky /smooth stone. Is that correct? And my second question is, do you know if you can launch a kayak or SUP from Welcker's? I know there is a launch area near Tennison Bay, but I was just curious. Thanks for your channel! It is such a great resource!

I stayed in one of the walk-in sites last summer, they are very secluded and you can see alot of stars and the Milky Way on clear nights, great birding spot too. You will have to bring your own shade as it is in a prairie and be mindful when storms and lightning come through.

Thank you for making an updated video of this park. It’s one of our favorites. We never knew there was a waterfall at quarry lake! We’ve always been there in drier years when it wasn’t apparent. It’s nice that you posted what’s changed since your last video of the park. Glad to see the shuttle road repaired. We were there during its devastation. The power of water is amazing.

I spent two summers working in maintenance for Big Foot Beach State Park in the late 70's. At that time the road was all gravel. I had to grade the road every so often to keep the ruts from forming. I dug post holes, put up new signs, repaired the old ones. Ran the garbage truck through the park and cleaned the toilet and shower facilities. The two men I worked for, the Ranger and the Superintendent where both nice fellows, teaching me all they new about Park maintenance. The main use was on the weekends, when people would drive up from Chicago and the park would get jammed. Thanks for the video. It brought back fond memories of my youth.

@@SconnyWandering Yes, but not all the way. My family lived in Williams Bay, so one day when I was about 10 my brother and I and a couple friends decided to ride our bikes around the lake, not telling our parents. We only got to just past Fontana when one of the bikes had a flat tire. We had to knock on someones door to call our parents. They were not thrilled. This was in the 60's. In the sixth grade in Williams Bay, I also spent one week for outdoor education at George Williams Collage camp, also on the lake. I spent alot of summers swimming at the beach and fishing off piers.

There is a trail to go below the falls. Walk around or under the viewing platform and you'll be on it. Soon after you round the corner the trail splits very temporarily, I recommend just going straight, don't take the high route, then stay on the trail. For whatever reason, 90% of people decide to just head straight down the steep hill when the trail is faster/safer (depending on your fitness level, I've watched A LOT of people struggle down that hill, and a few even get trapped due to high water) stay on the trail, takes like 2 minutes.
