Your mama's bari is beautiful. Tragic how most of us can't devote enough time and resources to Bangladesh. Everything you said at 18:00 is facts. I think if all the youngers made the effort to visit and chipped in money to maintain everything our parents, grandparents etc made we'd be laughing in the years to come, the country will only become more developed and property prices will only go up in the long run. Problem is one person can't upkeep everything when they have a life in the UK as well. Everyone needs to be on the same page and chip in accordingly.

21:23 ... it's not because we are Sylheti, it's because we are British Bengali's. The airline staff are probably also over worked. I've had good experiences with people from Dhaka having stayed there for a few nights after flying in with Qatar airlines. Me and my family ventured out as tourists, everyone we conversated with were really nice to us. The choice is there ... direct flight to shave off a few hours but you get treated like crap but you'll get there direct. Or use Qatar, Emirates, Saudi, Gulf, Oman Air, have a connecting flight to Dhaka, chill for a night or two and then fly in to Sylhet with a great domestic airline like US Bangla. I know which I prefer to be honest. Biman need to up their customer service game.

Who doesn't love the village and lush greenery or small doses of the hustle and bustle of a over populated city. The issue is we all need to stay in the UK to run our businesses, work and put our kids through good schools. The only people truly benefitting from such properties are the uncles and aunties that couldn't settle outside of BD.
