What a lot of hard work you have put into your beautiful garden. And the harvesting will also be hard work. But as you say, the rewards in the excellent food you produce is so good. I hope the bugs are few and the harvest great! I too often practice gratitude; at 70 years of age, I lose things and abilities more and more; but at the same time, this offers a chance to focus on the beauty around me and the things that bring me joy and peace. My perspective changes as I enjoy nature. Cheers!

Where I live is just parched sand that really doesn’t support anything other than things that can live in a desert. So bagged dirt & compost must be brought in to replace it. Then the extreme heat kills it. Lol I will have to move to be semi-self sufficient (my dream)

Like you, I started a permaculture food forest in 2016 but am doing it by myself. Besides the benefits you mentioned, I also support the pollinators such as bees. I’m not only doing it for myself, friends and family but to connect to Mother Earth and support the animals and insects. That’s what makes it all worth while

A really good reason. In my garden I also support the bees and more. :) And I am doing the work myself too. My husband works 100%, so he hasn't the time to dig in the garden. But he is there when I get sick. That's a huge benefit. :) I wish you the best for your garden! :)

Working full time from home and taking of the garden oh no. I need to care for myself as well my health comes first. Trying to do multiple task at once will drive me nuts! I save our own asparagus seed from heirloom established plants, 2 years running now I have sown a seed tray full of seed in a greenhouse in mid spring, they can take up to a month to germinate, once large enough to handle I pot up in 3" pots and grow on in the pots for a year, early summer the following year they go in a new bed, we get around 40 to 50 plants from each sowing.

I love Asparagus too. I'm in the U.S., Kentucky, and have had better luck of late starting with seeds. But the sprouts take forever to show. Two weeks? Don't give up! Keep them evenly moist. Might be better to start them in cups first from seed if you still have some seed. And if I were you, I'd go ahead and plant those crowns that seem like goners. I've had some come via the mail that looked like trash that I just planted anyway and lo, and behold, the next spring, there they were. Plants want to live. You have a beautiful farm!! By the way, I'm 67 and have MS, so I'm encouraged by your fine work there. Thanks for sharing.
