Disagree of not being pets. They very much are inquisitive of humans. We have one that visits us twice a day and enjoys us sitting on the ground and talking stupid silly stuff. He listens to the harmonica with fascination. Sunbaths, and loves small ground beef rolled up. Eats out of my palm than turns his back and sits watching for possible predators. Fun to watch.

I just caught a chipmunk eating my flame tomatoes in my garden. I have 5 other varieties of tomatoes but only takes the flame ones.

We have one that lives in an empty acreage behind our house and comes in our backyard frequently. Do they stray far from their home?

I don't recall where I read it, but you're right - they don't actually hibernate per se. They sleep a lot! In winter for weeks at a time (torpor?) but wake up at times, to hit that larder they keep for a "midnight snack." Even in summer they sleep 18 - 20 hrs most days. It's very important that they stock that larder to the brim and some obviously make that task #1. (that's why they have those pouches). If they underestimate, and the larder gets empty they will briefly lam out in winter to find something to eat. It's very dangerous. They are conspicuous in snow and there are hawks owls and eagles just waiting for them to show up.

It doesn’t cover the entire sun. That’s why you’re seeing the eclipse in the first place. When the moon entirely covers it you can still see it because the sun is larger. The moon is closer to earth.

Roadrunners will definitely get used to you after a while. They won’t seek you out but they’ll begin to ignore you and go about their business next to you and you can feed them seed and stuff So, in a way they can kind of be pets.

They are a huge pain in the arse. They are wonderful to everybody, until they grow up in your tree in front of your house and sing day and night. I hear those sounds constantly in my head. The bird in front of my house is crazy. I live on a golf course, with 1000's of trees for him to go enjoy. But he wont leave mine.

They only attack humans if u are in the area of their nest. They aren't dumb they defend their food source. ( especially when they have young). Mine are trained like pet birds inside, they are never aggressive to me, but i am kind to them. They come to my door and talk to let me know they want more food.
