Installing LED Lights on John Deere X500 Snowblower
The John Deere X500 tractor paired with the 44" snowblower excels at handling substantial snow loads. However, one notable drawback is the tractor's built-in headlights, which prove insufficient for effective illumination. These headlights become obstructed by the snowblower and are poorly positioned for optimal visibility during low-light snow clearing sessions. To enhance your snowblowing experience in dim conditions, consider outfitting your equipment with these magnetic, high-intensity LED lights. With these additions, you'll enjoy ample, well-directed illumination, ensuring a clear path while operating your snowblower.

    Thought about doing this, but when I used the blower snow tends to build up pretty good on top of the blower where the lights are located, I am worried that they would get buried

      I was concerned about that too, but it is actually rare I needed to brush snow off of the lights. I've used them even in a Nor'easter with more than three feet of snow one season and they held up just great. Sometimes with really wet, heavy snow, I need to stop and brush the lights off since they are LED and don't produce much heat to melt the snow but even then it isn't often.

    I JUST installed my dock lights and they work great! One thing, when I opened the front console cover, I saw that my Switch already had the "Y" harness there and I simply plugged the lights into the available open plug.

    any videos of you using these lights at night? have you snowblowed in any deep snow yet? curious how well the magnets hold up to the wetness ....

    • @AspireinHope

      I don't have videos of my using these at night, but I have used them for multiple seasons and never had a problem. We had a Nor'easter with more than three feet of snow one season and they held up just great. I've used them on really wet heavy snow and powder and nothing seems to affect them. Even getting snow off of the lights has not caused them to move, the magnets stay put. The biggest challenge with them is they will sometimes get covered in snow and because they are LED, they don't produce much heat to melt the snow...so you may have to brush the snow off of them - but it isn't that often that I needed to do that. Thanks for the question!

    Did u rewire the stereo so it works without the sea doo engine running?

    • @AspireinHope
      @AspireinHope 2 місяці тому

      No, I didn't do anything with the stereo - but in my Switch, I can use the stereo without the engine running without making any modifications. The Bluetooth and stereo will work for a period of time until a timer shuts off electronics, but you can reset the timer by just hitting the ignition button quickly one time.

    The pig tail is not included, you should update this. If it came with yours the dealer probably added it to your order.

      Thank you for the comment. Ours did come with the pigtail, but you may be correct that our dealer just added it without us knowing.

    great vid and setup thanks! Not sure I would trust those stick-on cable stays with our tractor parked outside in Minnesota year round but def thinking of doing something similar.

      Thank you! I kept my tractor in a garage, but I was amazed at how well those 3M cable stays worked. I never had one come off, even after multiple uses and them being covered in snow. Good luck with your project!

    I just want to tell you that I have watched a lot of you tubers and you are the best. Are you a teacher? If not you should be. I purchased a John Derre x590 and have a soft cab on it. I have been all over the internet try to find something and found you. I will be doing the front and back ones because the back ones just came up. I need a strobe for the top. Any ideas? That will a little tricky. Shot me a comment if you have anything. Keep up the good work.

      @AspireinHope 8 місяців тому

      Thank you very much! I'm glad you found the video helpful. I did not do the soft cab on my x500, but last year I upgraded my x500 for a 1025r with the Mauser cab and absolutely love it. For the x500, I did put some flashing LED lights on the back to add visibility when I was dealing with snow at the end of my driveway. I don't have a UA-cam video on it, but I do have a blog post about how I installed those. The link to that post is here: aspireinhope.com/diy/adding-led-flashing-warning-lights-to-john-deere-x500-tractor/
