More Power Than You Can Imagine! - 200Ah Custom Lithium Battery Installation
Welcome to Build EP 04.
In this video, install a Custom Lithium 200ah Kit into my N80 Hilux. I've always wanted a lithium battery simply because of the capacity and usable power you have out of them. Coming from my previous setup, I'll have 4x the power I had in my previous Hilux. 200ah is a lot of power and I intend to run big a big inverter for induction cooking but also to run all my eletrics and also charge up things on the go
Whilst I've got the rear seats out and the rear wall exposed, I might as well sound deaden and insulate it whilst I'm there.

Welcome to Build EP 03. In this video Sean and I install a Front Runner Slimline onto Big Betty. Having a roof rack allows you to install driving lights, side lights, max track holders, shovel holders...the list is endless. Most roof racks use a pop rivet style mounting, which after heavy 4wding or corrugations can lead to failure and damage your roof or others. Front Runner use a bolt-in style...

HOW TO INSTALL UPPER CONTROL ARMS - Caloffroad UCA's - Suspension Install Part 2
Переглядів 3,3 тис.3 роки тому
Well following on from my previous suspension install video, I high lighted the fact that my upper control arms were rubbing against my brand new coils. I gave the suspension the benefit of the doubt and let it settle in to see if the rubbing would stop. Well it didn't and here we are. Part 2 of my suspension upgrades, caloffroad upper control arms. Firstly they are beastly, so much more weight...

Fox 2.0 SUSPENSION LIFT KIT - Toyota Hilux

The Toyota Hilux finally gets treated to some brand new Fox 2.0 Suspension w/ Phatbars Series Black Coils. After rolling around on what I thought was a 2" lift (it was very sagged) now I've got a proper 2" lift! How to DIY Chassis Repaint

I have the same suspension fitted to My Hilux this week, and wheel alignment done all by a reputable dealer. impressed with the fox/ cal product, but it is driving rubbish not handling good on open road/ highway, brought it to my local mechanic, he won't touch it as it's modified now, should i replace UCA
Any brand-new suspension will ride super rough until it's had some time to 'bed' in If it's still riding rough you have of selected too heavy springs
Hi mate, i hope you painted the drilled holes. Otherwise, they will rust very quickly. Using house silicone will also help it rust faster, so is a big no no. You need automotive silkaflex
Does this unit require a aerpro antenna adaptir and camera adaptor?
What grit sand paper did you use ?
No footwear was definitely a decision 😅
100% it's just the aussie way, wear thongs when working on your rigs!
how come all the things that "protect the paint" on your truckbed, just destroy or remove the paint?
Just love how he did this next to all the other cars in an open parking lot area of an apartment complex. What a joke.
I have a long bed c10 how many cans do you think 4 or 6 cans beds length is 8ft
Is this lifted? And why need of BMC? Does it rub to the body mount?
does it turn on without car key inserted? i have yellow wire connected to constant power, red wire connected to acc, but it does't turn on without car key inserted. i have kenwood dashcam, because when the car is turned off, it doesn't have power, thus it does not perform parking monitoring ( why would it even need the yellow wire )
no the car needs to be in acc for the headunit to turn on
Is this stuff just as hard as Linux or rho Gard?
This one of the best videos i've watched as I've gone down this rabbit hole of DIY bed liner jobs. Excellent video.
@@JefferyThomas-h7s thanks mate Appreciate the positive feedback 🙏
my 2005 car has ground (0v) and positive (0v) for the reverse light with the old head unit(when i put gear on reverse, the positive wire becomes +12v), after i replace it with the new kenwood head unit, the reverse light has ground(+12v) and positive (+12) all the time (when i put gear on reverse, the ground wire becomes 0v ). do you know what's happening?
How did this install impact on audible road noise, due to removing the back carpet? Has it made cabin noise noticeably louder since installing this? Fwiw its massive, I'd like something smaller in size for my hilux.
honestly that stock carpet would have done bugger all for road noise, but since I was there sound deadened it up to make a difference
Any rubbing issues with the p12 offset ?
no rubbing issues at all!
Hey Mate, did you end up using both boxes of the sound deadening or just the one box ?
from memory yes
Hi I am really struggling to get the roof console out. Tried on 0.25x speed but stiöl can not see what you did. Are there just clips? Did you pull from the back of the console? Would very appreciate your help
no clips from memory it's all held into place with the sun visor mounts and all the top handle grab mount points + the rear wall ones it's abit of trickey and I did have to bend it a little to get it out
It cost me $159 with 4 bottle kit and gun. I had tape and drop cloths. Bought some etching spray from HF. It took 1.25 hours to prep including going to the store to get a wire wheel(they nylon ones took forever). Spraying was around 20 minutes each coat x2. The cheapest I found around Philadelphia was $650 and it would be 2 days in their shop. I love how it came out AND I saved almost $500 bucks. Now all my buddies want me to do theirs.
hell yeh brother!
2 days in the shop that shop is crazy, line x only had my truck in the shop for 3 hours
Did you have to do BMC?
Yes I do have a BMC Chop, that was done by superior engineering with their SSM kit
Hey mate, what does SSM mean?
Second Stage Manufacture so technically on paper my ute is a superior engineering hilux and not a Toyota hilux
What offset are these?
Offset of these wheels are +10
Nice work. The only thing I would had done differently is I would have covered the bare aluminium of the mounting plates with something that would insulate the wires from ground. I realise that it is paranoid but I figure on the off chance that a positive wire loosens and moves if it touches the mounting plate, it won’t short the battery. I have the same battery myself in a Landcruiser with the same dcdc charger BTW and love it.
I'm no battery expert but would the Internal BMS of the battery prevent a short?
@@AdventureN Yes. As in, the BMS should cut power if the current draw or heat goes too high but I hate to rely on it. Certainly in my set up I’ve preceded on the basis that it really is the very last line of defence. I accept that I am probably very cautious. The thing is though, in a 4WD there is plenty of vibration which can loosen bolts and let insulation rub through so I just like as many failsafes as possible. As I said, it is a very neat job.
Well, those look horrendous, but - to each his own 👍
What would you have put on then?
How many quarts
I want to do the roof of my camper but not sure how it will bound to the roof now.
What offset are you running?
These rims are +12 I think they come in a negative offsets now but double check on ROH’s website
How do you remove the seat belt trim. I habe everything off but cant work out you you took the plastic trim from the front and rear seat belt assembly.
if it's the area I'm thinking about, it's just clipped in. if you have a trim removal tool you should be able to get behind it and pry it part. As they are held together by trim clips
Not worth all the time, effort and materials when you can get it professionally done with a warranty for around $300
Where the hell are you getting a spray in bed liner for $300? The local crackhead?
750 for around here.
Use auto motive sikaflex, some silicones can eat into paint work
Roll-on is where its at. Just ask project farm
Gonna do this in June on my 95 tacoma
Get it done professionally trust me
Excellent! I also set myself up for June to line my entire F-150 although I pushed the start until today. Will be done with the paint project by July 4th
@@JayGBee let me pull 400 bucks out of my asshole.
@@sostrongineedmoreofyourmon974 nice bruv. I haven’t gotten to it but I will very soon
What psi do you recommend for this. I see the instructions say 50-60. I just want to know what you use. Look great by the way.
It kind of depends on what texture you desire. The higher the psi you will tend to get finer/flatter texture whereas with the lower range you tend to get a rougher/chunkier texture. Today, I sprayed my vehicle plastic trims at 55 psi (with the raptor shutz gun) and got a decently rough texture which is what I was going for. I plan on doing the same for the entire bed tomorrow, but when I raptor the exterior of my truck I know I’m going to go for 70 psi (depending on what my test sprays give me at that setting that day)
Nice work! How many bottles did you use?
The kit came with 4, I used 3. 2 got a coat on everything but the third I went extra thick on the base of the tub
@@AdventureNthanks for the reply! I’m about to coat my bumpers with raptor. Great video. 🤙
Wash the bed with Dawn let it dry. Wire wheel on a grinder (buy 2), staying away from edges. Sand as you would by your hard line. I apply Primer sealer first.
Great tips!
@@AdventureNyou as well. Good on you for doing it yourself. The factory jobs aren’t even sanded before they do this, and you did a much better prep job than line-X.
Defo primer indeed
Hey how was the fox suspension planning to buy one on my n70
hey mate, the fox is still going strong! 11/10 rate it for the n70
Dont waste your time on this shyt in 20 years its going to look like azz and to restore it its a fukn pain
I certainly won't have this tub for 20 years, that's for sure!
I have Rhinoliner on a 22 year old truck. Good as the day it was sprayed...and it's seen a lot of abuse.
Does your coil conversion have to be pre rego to fit? What’s the process and cost?
A coil conversion can be done, pre rego or post rego. The GVM upgrade with superior has to be done Pre-Rego as it's a SSM (second stage manufacture) The progress was purchase a new vehicle from a stealership, get it sent to superior, they do install and work + paperwork. The vehicle gets sent back to the dealership where you pick it up ready to go
Doesn't it rub off with minimal use ?
no it doesn't, it's a very durable tuff coating
How is the noise, and if you did not do the sound insulation, can you comment on how noisy that platform would be?
no wind noise at all. I just did the deadening and insultation whilst I was there. I can tell you from experience the insulation does help on those hot summer days
How is the noise, and if you did not do the sound insulation, can you comment on how noisy that platform would be?
i am curious like you mate, i hope he answers :)
How is the noise, and if you did not do the sound insulation, can you comment on how noisy that platform would be?
How is the noise, and if you did not do the sound insulation, can you comment on how noisy that platform would be?
You crushed that. Definitely not fun but so worth it.
thanks mate! no it isn't a small fun job, but definitely rewarding!
What sprayer are you using?
@@AkumaQiu it's called a shultz gun!
The new AS/NZS3001 Regulations are not applicable to inside vehicles as they are not classed as habitable areas. Thankyou for your detailed video!
I was going to say....there are more and more people doing behind seat installs now!
I'm about to paint a whole ass RV with it. I'm nervous
How did it go? Wanting do a van
@boocatdog it went really well, it has a very modern look, and is an easy fix to an ugly vehicle
By chance are you on meth?
Me too
@@wilenHave pictures?
I wish you did a tutorial just for dropping the roof liner lol. Going to install this roof rack soon but dropping the roof liner is by far the hardest part. Even at 0.25 speed I have no idea what's going on. Is there any manual online that I can use for this? I can't find any. Otherwise great video though.
Its pretty simple but fidly Remove all the grab handles and the plastic trims from pillar between the front and rear seats. Trim from the A pillars Remove the roof console etc and then slowly remove / drop the lining down You will have to bend it bit to fully remove it form the cab, I’d suggest removing the front seats to make your life much easier
@@AdventureN cheers mate.
Nice install mate, does it conform to the new battery regs? I think it needs to be in a sealed box and vented to the outside as it's in a habitatable space.
I’m not aware of the battery regulations where could I find them?
@@AdventureN custom lithium should have advised you.. renogy has it on there website.. it's todo with caravans and having batteries in habitibal spaces. They need to be in a sealed box which is vented to the outside. So I'm guessing yours would be the same as you're in the drivers seat
Mate do you know what the actual fox part numbers are
I honestly could not tell you! It's all a kit that is assembled by phatbars
@@AdventureN ah right yeah thought as much, sadly phatbars doesnt send to my part of the world
Mate, How did you remove the door handle sticking to the door pillar?
There is a little window that you pry open to get to the 10 or 12mm bolts
Yeah, can you get away with taking the sides down only of the roof liner? Would it be enough to get to the nuts. I have the same rack to install.
Ooooohhh you could bend the liner. But you could leave a crease in the liner if you bend it too much. Unfortunately with these sorts of installs you gotta take the longer route and proper route. As I said might as well sound deaden and insulate the roof whilst it was down. Lets us know how you go if you do end up getting it done without dropping the entire liner
@AdventureN thanks I'll take the liner completely out..
