I enjoyed this a lot, liked the typing room camera move and the pin-up/quintette sequence, but I was waiting for that last note and felt cheated I didn't get it. The orignal version you can tell it's adapted from the stage, which is fine, but having phrase separation didn't bother me. The voices are good.

Wait, they seriously cut the big final note?!?!? No wonder I never heard of this movie version before. SMDH

I sung this with an ensemble - I sung "Stewpots" part, the really low part that they don't do here. People got a kick out of seeing the absolute smallest guy in the group sing the lowest part of the song! :)

I don't understand why they did this. They didn't try to improve it. I guess if you just really love Harry Connick Jr's voice, but the original is just so much better.

honestly i like this version better... except for the last chord, all that build up and you end it like that why?!?!

Although I enjoy both versions of South Pacific, unlike most (all?) of the commenters here, I liked this rendition of "Nothing Like a Dame" better. The guys are not walking back and forth but actually going about their everyday business and military duties.

Hey, compared to Brodericks Music Man, this aint half bad. At least here they have a sense of humor. The original South Pacific, like the original music man, is crafted as if its for the stage. I can't totally fault an updated version using modern sets, camerawork and aesthetics. This version expanded on the general idea behind the song, and gave it a fresh take. Not great, but not trash can material.
