I love the content you made about a beetle that is the easiest to look after. Do you know if there’s any stores to get these?

Thanks, helpful but by hindsight though. Came across a very large, apparently stag beetle larvae just on the footpath between lawns. With no obvious place to return it to where it belongs, not lawns of course, I chose to keep it, also hoping t see what sort of beetle would emerge. Put it on the top of commercial compost and covered with decaying foliage. Covered the jar with paper towel for breathing, and sprayed once a week to keep it moist. After a month, decided to check how it was doing by gently removing foliage, and found dead rotten :(((. No idea what I did wrong - all seemed consistent with your advice ...?

Great video, I have some questions about heat and light. For larvae i would like to use a heat pad placed outisde the box, at a few cm of distance feom the side. For adults i was thinking about e heat lamp. Do they need a proper light simulating day and night for a proper survivaland reproduction?

Hey, do you know if I accidentally dig up beetle larvae in my garden, is it ok to just bury them again and they'll emerge when they're ready? Trying not to kill them, but this keeps happening.

I got a Stag Beetle recently. It's my first one ever. I put it in it's new forever home a week after it came out of its Pupa and I haven't seen it since. It buried itself in leaf litter and dirt and tbh I don't even know if it's still alive =[.

I keep tarantulas, frogs,lizards and prey mantis and had the exact idea yiu had when I saw the grub in a pet shop I thought how sad that these things are rarely pets and mostly food so I put some in my biggest tank and today just found my first adult . This bought me to your page. Thank you
